Toxic Masculintity And Privilege Seen On The Interwebs!

Renna @RennaW

Toxic masculinity and privilege.

Today, I thought, rather than focusing on the negatives, I’d accentuate some positives.

Yes, some people are going through some horrific times in Texas, right now.  Fortunately, there are thousands stepping up and doing.

The Tweet about “toxic masculinity” was sarcasm.  The threads related by Twitchy demonstrate how people, particularily females, view this sort of heroic behavior.

Here’s a video of another man stepping up!

Here’s another pic of a couple of men stepping up and doing what’s necessary and right.

image

It’s stuff like this which confirms my belief that man is basically good.

Now, I don’t know the background of the people in the pics and vid.  I know the guy at the top is a SWAT cop.  One of the guys in the bottom pic is sporting the Stars and Bars, and the guy in the vid is a Black guy …….. all MEN, coming together for a common cause and a common purpose.  As you can see in the pics, noone cares what color the people are saving people nor caring what color the people are being saved.

People, you need to contrast that to the lunacy which has recently happened in Charlottesville and Berkely.  The media tries to portray those events as indictative of what is happening in our nation.  Abhor the violence and hatred, and lift up the heroes demonstrating love and kindness to strangers!

This, my friends, is America!  And, that, my friends, is Texas!

God bless and watch over Texas, and God bless America!

No ANTIFA thugs or CNN staff stepping up? their to busy rioting and destroying America!

Another fun moment in view of some stupid claims of “cultural appropriation” :

“The study found that ancient Egyptians were most closely related to ancient populations in the Levant (modern day Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Israel and Lebanon), and were also closely related to Neolithic populations from the Anatolian Peninsula and Europe.”

Ancient Egyptian mummy genomes suggest an increase of Sub-Saharan African ancestry in post-Roman periods

Interesting it does not seem to be as it was previously thought that with the desertification of the Sahara all people gathered in the Nile valley gradually…

Which makes a whole lot more sense…..I never bought into that out of Africa thing….while at the same time they tell us how advanced middle easterners were

  3. philjourdan says:

NO fake men – let’s see them try carrying 2 people at once. And of course no fake women. They might damage their nails.

  4. Latitude says:

Question you guys might know….I can’t figure this one out
What’s is Kim Jong-un’s game?….does he somehow benefit from getting his doors blown off?

    • Crazy doesn’t usually worry about a valid reason. 🙂

But he probably still believes he’s under China’s umbrella, and may be. And he looks like even more of a god to his people.

      • Latitude says:

dunno, I don’t think he’s crazy…at least not in the biblical sense 😉
He’s got to know he’s going to get his diaper dusted….the other countries will have no other choice

        • philjourdan says:

No, he has no conception of reality. HIs life has been one of privilege and insulation. He does not know the value of hard work, nor where things come from.

That is why the 3rd generation is always the most lethal. The First generation earns it. The second is there to see the first earn it, so understands where it comes from. The 3rd comes along and thinks that is the way it has always been.

        • Latitude says:

          Well….Trump’s going to bomb him

    • suyts says:

He’s a 3rd generation totalitarian atheist ruler. He has no grasp of reality. He’s treated like God in his country and doesn’t understand why he’s not in the rest of the world.

      • Latitude says:

I thought he went to school in Bern? I just don’t get it at all…..if he keeps throwing those firecrackers….he’s got to know he will be stopped….and with that goes a humongous risk of him being de-powered

      • suyts says:

        Yeh, he’s not very bright.

        • Latitude says:

or maybe brighter than we think….NOKO has always been rewarded for pulling these same kinds of stunts. He might be betting that everyone will back off…because the risk is too great.
If that’s what he’s thinking…..he’s not taking into account how weapons have evolved

Personally I’m about over all this crap…..I would just drop a few bunker busters on him, put him out of business….and let the cards fall where they may

        • suyts says:

Yeh, I’m good with that, too.

        • leftinflagstaff says:

Chips falling where they may most likely means Seoul is gone. But maybe that’s the price to end this finally.

        • Latitude says:

dunnno…..NOKO has had more missiles blow up than they have been successful
and SOKO had THAAD ( or something like that) installed months ago

If NOKO sends one in their direction…and it blows up before it gets there..
Half the countries in that area will be dropping hardened leaflets on them

        • It won’t be one. They’ll send thousands of conventional. And probably even a nuke if they can. I think their mindset most likely is, once it’s on, it’s on. Seoul with suffer greatly. But that’s sometimes what it takes.

    • The trouble with appeasing dictators is that they then think they can get away with anything. The missile over Japan was a shot across our bow. Trump now is really on the hot seat. A missile towards Guam would have been an act of war against the US. This is essentially an act of war against one of our allies. Old rules of warfare are really not in play anymore. Since Trump is constantly under fire from the press, Kim must think he has a free hand. He’s testing our resolve. He assumes Trump will give him fair warning before doing something really serious. Trump may surprise him.

      Jim

      • Latitude says:

True…and NOKO has a long history of pushing the envelope too…..and they have been rewarded for it every time

  5. Latitude says:

This hurrican in Houston is just over the top…..I’m willing to bet most of those people did not have flood insurance either…
    ….It’s a two fer now
On the one hand it’s going to set Houston back for a long time…
…on the other, you’re not going to be able to find a contractor in the rest of the country for a long time either

    But stock in Home Depot….

  6. Latitude says:

Billions and billions of dollars on computer models…
…and the NHC doesn’t even believe their own models
Next time you see them bragging on how accurate their computers are…
    …remember this
Every model has it going out to sea….the bright red line is the NHC forecast

  8. Lars P. says:

I must confess that when first the term ‘libtard’ was used I was not comfortable with it, but the reality is that it is a well deserved epithet: I understand it as representing people whose logic and ideals change depending on a perceived opponent, see for instance:

    http://www.breitbart.com/video/2017/09/01/dem-rep-admits-trump-derangement-syndrome-oppose-mothers-day-trump-endorsed/

He added, “If Trump takes a position, then you must take an equally extreme and opposite position. He’s for Mother’s Day — you must be against Mother’s Day. He’s for a wall — you have to be for unlimited immigration from all places.”

How can one have a logical conversation with a libtard? The answer is: it is not possible … 😦

  9. Latitude says:

Looks like Irma finally got it’s act together enough so the models have finally grabbed on to it….

    • Lars P. says:

Yes, keeping the path so far, looks like it is headed for Florida

      • Latitude says:

…and making landfall on my house

        • Latitude says:

This morning they have shifted west again….Still way too close for comfort
..and they’ve moved it out a day now too

        • Lars P. says:

If it’s coming your way probably best thing is to pack and go camping for a week somewhere where is warm and dry…

        • leftinflagstaff says:

Funny thing with my storm experience: 35 years in FL and never bore the full brunt of a storm till Brooklyn, and Sandy. 4ft of water in the stairwell for that one. No power for two weeks.

        • Latitude says:

ditto on that one…..we have two generators….1000ft of heavy duty extension cords…and lots of chocolate and cashews < real survival food
Here's our problem, they have it going right up the middle of the state….there's no where to evacuate to..those roads are going to be a mess and you won't be driving them until they are cleared….and we all learned our lesson with Andrew, they wouldn't let anyone come back for 2 weeks. Our bottom floor was built hardened for a cat 5, and it's 9ft above MHW…..we're going to ride it out here……unless we panic!!

        • Lars P. says:

Uh, oh, it is 5++ now…
“Update 3: The Irma hits just keep on coming, with the NHC Atlantic Ops twitter page reporting that as of this moment, Irma is now the stronger hurricane in the Atlantic basin outside of the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico in NHC records.”

        • cdquarles says:

One of the things that grinds my gears these days is the reporting of modeled estimates as if they were facts. Let me see the buoy data.

Even Tony Heller is guilty of this when he adds the CO2 was under xxx ppm. 😦

        • Latitude says:

Lars, here’s what’s going on…..Irma has spun down to a very small eye…it’s only 25-30 miles across….smaller eye, spins faster, lower pressure

  10. cdquarles says:

I am going out on a limb and say that it’ll head more west and reprise the mid-September 1979 cat-3 Frederic. We shall see. That means it’ll miss Lat and hit me ;p, though I am well inland. Nevertheless big hurricanes do lots of damage over a very wide area. Though I am well inland, Ivan damaged my old house (falling limbs).

    • Latitude says:

That’s the double whammy….if it hooks more west…it’s going to loop out in the gulf
      …and head straight for you!

      • cdquarles says:

Frederic made the turn in the gulf then started moving almost due north and moved up Mobile Bay, turning more NNE and NE later. Before the storm, it was fairly warm for mid-September. Afterwards, it was fairly cool for a week or two. I want to say that Foley was hurt badly. Foley is much bigger now than it was back then.

      • Latitude says:

well……the latest models have clustered up the east coast again

  11. cdquarles says:

Hmm, there is a cold front headed my way and there is a disturbance in the SW Gulf on the tail end of the last one. Rain is expected in the next 24 to 36 hours with a notable drop in temps. Position and timing of that will affect both tropical disturbances.

    • In weather, likes attract, so that cold front (it’s a trough really) will act as a magnet.

I remember back in ’74 and ’75, we were Hurrevac-ed from Whiting Field. The Air Force tells (or used to tell) everyone where to go for a Hurrevac. In ’74, they sent us to England AFB in Louisiana. The eye of the storm (I think it was Hurricane Carmen) came to within 60 miles of England AFB. In ’75, they sent us to Moody AFB in Georgia. There was a cold front just north of Whiting, and it was aligned perfectly with Moody. The hurricane (I think it was Hurricane Eloise) just followed the front up to Moody AFB.

Afterwards, we said, “If you want to know where these hurricanes are going, just find out where they are sending VT-6.”

      Jim

    • Latitude says:

We almost froze right behind Wilma….And AC cold….but way too cold for us down here

      • cdquarles says:

Remnants of Harvey spun up an EF1 and an EF2 tornado some 100 to 120 miles west of me. The areas affected were areas I am familiar with. Eoline, near Centerville in Bibb County has been hit a number of times within my lifetime. Reform, in Pickens County, and points north and east of there, have also been hit a number of times. No known deaths from these at this time but the EF2 did cause a number of injuries. The Bibb County storm tracked northeast into Tuscaloosa and Jefferson Counties, but it wasn’t on the ground at that point.

  12. Lars P. says:

Interesting, if I correctly read this, 2 years of models & papers based on those models were busted with one experiment:
“A longstanding theory describing what happens to matter before it is consumed by a black hole is wrong, according to new experiments ”
    https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.119.075001
    http://www.redorbit.com/news/space/1113418670/experiment-changes-everything-we-know-about-black-holes/

  13. Latitude says:

The NHC is driving us all nuts down here…. 4 days ago the believed their models and put it right on top of us…..now today, all their models have it going way east of us…
….but today the NHC doesn’t believe their models and put it way west….right on top of us again!
Idiots have moved landfall out 4 days now….four days ago if the front was going to put it on us…four days later, the front has time to get deeper, and it will move it further east

Still haven’t found anyone that’s evacuating…tree guys said they will be here this afternoon to trim coconuts

    • cdquarles says:

The cold front I mentioned passed through overnight. It is not, in all likelihood, going to crack 80 here today. Overnight lows are forecast to be in the low 50s. Where I am, it might get in the upper 40s, depending on the local dew point. Winds are fairly strong right now.
Timing and position of fronts, which as Jim mentioned are elongated areas of low pressure either at/near the surface or at altitude, affect tropical systems. They tend to go around the edges of ridges (high pressure) and toward areas of weaknesses in them (low pressure).

    • suyts says:

      Stay safe, Lat!!!

      • Latitude says:

We’re trying to….but the NHC needs to be taken out and horse whipped.
We’ll make up our minds Fri night….everything…even Ventusky..is moving it east.
If not, we’ll leave early Sat morning

        • cdquarles says:

Yeah, it is looking like the cold front and its associated upper level low may pull Irma more north and make it pass somewhat more east right now. Okay, my westerly push forecast was wrong.

        • philjourdan says:

With hurricanes, there is no “right or wrong”, just misses and near misses. The track is turning north. But each day they move the turn a little more east. Hopefully by the time it makes landfall, it will be just a 1, or at worst a 2.
