Emergency Gun Confiscation!!!!!!

Seized: With Hurricane Irma Bearing Down, US Virgin Islands Starts Confiscating Guns From Residents

Hurricane Harvey has passed, but as communities along the Gulf of Mexico recover, there’s another storm heading into the area. Blessedly, it’s not projected to strike the Houston-area, but Hurricane Irma, which was upgraded to a category five storm, is projected to wreak havoc along the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republican before slamming into Florida. It will then proceed up the east coast. As islanders and Floridians alike prepare for the worst, the U.S. Virgin Islands are also enforcing another measure, and it’s not making sure all windows are boarded up; they’re confiscating its residents’ firearms. The National Rifle Association is considering filing a lawsuit against the island. The Daily Caller also obtained a copy of the seizure order (via Fox News):

You can read the order at the links.

I don’t have many reasonable words for this manical ursurption of basic human rights which is being perputrated against American citizens.  What I have is this …..

The Governor needs removed.  Now.

If you are so afraid that the people with guns will harm other people during a time of crisis, then, you are doing governing wrong.

Hurricanes, I know about, but, have never lived through one.  Other disasters, such as floods and tornadoes, I have.  Never once, even during most desparate times, have I seen legal, law abiding gun owners turn against their fellow citizens.  Indeed, it is those very same people you need to turn to when all hell is braking loose.  They will protect you and defend your property.

The NRA rightly states this leaves the most vulnerable people defenseless.

Further, this insane action causes unduly, unnecessary, and additional crises.  These people already have too much to think about.  They shouldn’t have to worry about some idiot lunatic wanting to grab their ultimate defense against looters and other criminals.

Also, were it me, they’d have to kill me first.  I assume their National Guard would have other priorities, at this time!

If there are any deaths or harm to come to legally, and law abiding citizens because of such ursurption, then, the Governor should be personally held responsible.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s any more law abiding citizens in Charlotte Amalie…or the park for that matter.
You would not believe the crime there. People will not go out at night….and you don’t drive at night because that’s when the car jackings happen. There are definite no go zones everywhere…and drugs, lots of drugs.

Used to be Jamaica…now the USVI’s are just as bad or worse

    • suyts says:

Then, they’re doing it wrong. It isn’t hard to lock up criminals.

      • Latitude says:

believe it or not…they have been moving toward a culture of crime for decades. Honest, you would not believe how corrupt they are.

        • cdquarles says:

Bad culture does that. It does not help the culture to make commerce a crime. Just as making gun ownership make criminals out of people who wouldn’t, necessarily, act badly, the logic applies to drugs as well. Drugs are not evil. What people do with them may be evil. Don’t treat vices as crimes. Attack vices through the culture. Save the police for real crimes, that is rape, robbery, murder and the like.

        • cdquarles says:

Argh, read ‘making gun ownership a crime makes’

        • Latitude says:

..It’s no different than our inner city black culture….they have alienated themselves and created their own world, language, habits, what’s “normal” and what’s not….and culture

        • I wonder if we’ll ever accept that reality concerning drugs. Some things just make too much sense. Or should. Whether we like it or not. We like to talk about the obvious examples of failure with things like Socialism. Well, look at the obvious example of Prohibition.

I’ve said before, give me more Anheuser-Busch corporations than Pablo Escobar corporations. Yes, some will abuse it’s legality. But thats obviously going to happen, legal or not. Stop pretending to fight it. Keep the money in our economy. Let it pay for it’s own negatives.

        • cdquarles says:

Funny thing about drugs, though is that they were all legal, while abuse of them was handled via vagrancy and drunk & disorderly statutes prior to the rise of the false religion of Progressive Socialism. No one now, or very few now are alive prior to it and can remember it. Given that ‘progressives’ read the book “1984” as an instruction manual, they zealously erase that history. They’ll live to repeat it.

        • I’m about as conservative as anyone. But some things should be as obvious as a slap to the face. Unless we can someday program the desire for drugs and alcohol out of our DNA, a certain segment of the population is going to want them, and abuse them. Legal or not.

      • Latitude says:

I honestly don’t know…..the guys are here cleaning the coconuts right now and hauling it off…We still have at least two days work prepping and getting ready….NHC is still calling it Miami…but all the models are split…everything from up the west coast…on top of us….and Miami.
We’re going to make our call Fri night….stay or get out early Sat morning. But the only place for us to go is up and head to the west coast……along with everyone evacuating from Miami…75 is going to be a parking lot….95 north already is
Our downstairs is built for this…..it might be safer than the road…..but it’s 7ft above high tide….a direct hit would put us under
Dunno…it’s going to be a hard choice either way

        • I know back in Red Hook with Sandy, timing was the issue. She came in with the high tide.
IIRC, she wasn’t even hurricane strength at landfall, so without the already rising tide, we wouldn’t have had near the flooding. But, as it was, cars on my street became submarines.

A Cat 5 is a whole different animal of course. Irma can probably push enough water over you even at low tide.

        • Latitude says:

          well…..we’re thinking that too
First floor is hardened for a cat 5…..but! it’s not water proof
If this thing goes up the Keys, over Homestead, and on to Miami/Ft Laud….it’s going to be a long long time before you can get anything fixed

…buy stock in Home Depot and roofing material manufacturers

        • Yep. First apartments in Red Hook were devastated. I was fortunately 3rd floor. Lost a few things in the basement. The worst was the long recovery for power, heat, hot water.

I fortunately had a friend just few blocks away that I could stay with. Was kinda crazy the lack of damage a few feet higher off the water made, for the short distance away that she was. I called her to check how she was doing, as my streets were becoming rivers. She look out her window, people were walking their dogs on her street. A few blocks difference.

        • ‘First floor apartments….’

      • Latitude says:

Plans have changed a little……have reservations for Fri night on the west coast…north Naples…leave here around 5…get there around 8-9pm
We’ll look at it Sat morning and decide from over there….run, hide, or go home

        • Probably smart. Good luck!

        • suyts says:

Don’t wait too long to make a decision, praying for you, bro!.

        • Latitude says:

Thanks….we’re all sorta freaking out right now….NHC moved it west again….right over where we were going…and just found out there’s no gas on the west coast
Still have things to do tomorrow….but loading up the car and out of here as soon as we can
Not supposed to be here until late Sat night, Sun morning
….after that I have no idea

        • Latitude says:

…..filled up 5 gas cans for the generator….taking them with us

        • Latitude says:

…and if those climate models are as bad as their hurricane models
They are all full of CRAP!!!!

        • I’d think more inland anyway, Lat. Naples was still too close to the coast. I’d think higher ground. Fl doesn’t have much, but the center is still better than the coast. Even if it means sleeping in a car, that’s better than a car submerged in a hotel parking lot in Naples, IMO.

        • Latitude says:

I agree…we’re going to call it as we go…….have an option to stay with friends in Hernando, inland from Crystal River…..we can keep on going north to Birmingham if we have to
…it’s the getting back that’s going to be a problem

        • Latitude says:

Then there’s the after hurricane party….the one where it goes right up the middle of Florida….and Wind Insurance runs out of money

        • leftinflagstaff says:

Yeah, I was actually gonna mention Brooksville, just south of where you’re talking. Hernando County. Lived there a couple years. Some fairly high ground, for FL. Actual hills! 😊

        • Latitude says:

NHC has landfall on my front door now…..

        • Lars P. says:

Looks like it is going to pass through mid of Florida. Cat 4 now hopefully will decrease further.
I learned that there is a gas buddy app showing where there is still gas:
          http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-09-08/deadly-devastating-hurricane-irma-closes-florida-millions-expected-be-left-without-p
“Not surprisingly, the mad rush to evacuate has left about 40% of the gasoline stations in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale region without fuel. Floridians have turned to the Crowd-Sourced ‘Gas Buddy’ App to determine which stations still have gas.”
          http://wusfnews.wusf.usf.edu/post/facing-fuel-shortages-floridians-can-use-gas-buddy-app#stream/0

        • Latitude says:

In Bonita Springs now….the new ground zero!….I swear this thing is following us
Had a great Italian dinner, found gas no problem…and the hotel has all you can eat breakfast.
Tomorrow morning we run harder and faster…..probably up to Hernando….or even back across to Miami Beach..depends.
Track now is right over Key West….or at least below the 7 mile somewhere…we might even have a house to go back to after all

        • leftinflagstaff says:

          Maybe you’ll dodge the bullet.

        • suyts says:

Then go to Birmingham! ….. Go north until you reach high ground! ….. Getting back is always a problem which always gets resolved, one way or another. …… be safe, my friend. If you’re not safe, get safe.

        • cdquarles says:

All this storm needs to do, at this point, to make my forecast more correct, is for it to keep heading west a day or two more.

        • Latitude says:

LOL don’t think we didn’t think B’ham…and now they have it heading right there! Dropped to a Cat 3 on Cuba..when they predicted 4-5…going around the edge of Key West….We’re in Hernando…highest point in the state…and highest winds predicted for here are about 50mph if it stays inland….70 tops if it hugs the coast.
cd, everyone in Florida is sopissed right now, you wouldn’t believe….
Jump to left, no jump to the right, no jump back left again….no no now just try to jump back right when everything is full and there’s no room anywhere..including shelters
New is reporting 5 million….it’s more like 20 million..and they are not counting tourists…
We’re in Hernando, highest place in Fla….I75 was a parking lot Tampa north…we took 41 back road and had a great trip
We’ll be fine here…getting back home, I have no idea

        • suyts says:

Glad to hear that you’ve gotten yourself to a safe place! God bless, Lat.

        • leftinflagstaff says:

Ah, good ol Rt. 41….smart call. You drove thru/by a lot of my old stomping ground. Another lifetime ago. I probably wouldn’t even recognize much of it now.

Sounds like you’re good…. at least til the return trip.

        • Latitude says:

Lord knows…me too! I was so glad to get here…
Left you wouldn’t believe it…other than throwing up a few new stores at the intersections…it hasn’t changed one bit….and it’s one of the most gorgeous rides in all of Florida.
In a way, I’m glad we came up….I needed a reminder of how absolutely beautiful it is up here.

        • leftinflagstaff says:

Well, that’s nice to hear. 41 itself must be far enough inland to still avoid much of the sprawl. I know when I did make a return trip through the area ( several years ago), west of 41 to the Gulf had become one housing development/ strip mall after another.

  2. leftinflagstaff says:

    There’s a storm coming, alright.

  3. TG says:

    A Warning.
Read about the same gun grab that happened in High river, Canada. The Police and Canadian Army went completely rogue! Smashing down locked front doors leaving them hanging off the hinges and then trashing homes to find old collectables such as flint locks antique guns and hunting rifles! Since then they have done nothing but lies and coverups!
“In all, 2,210 homes were left damaged by the RCMP, and they should not have gone into those homes in the first place. People’s rights were violated, and that not only upsets me as a former member, I’ve heard from many RCMP veterans who are upset as well.”

National Post View: Gun grab in High River was a serious RCMP …

The Governor is back tracking fast – http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/09/06/u-s-virgin-islands-gov-order-seize-guns-not-mean-seize-guns/

He is saying basically they can “buy” them at retail if they lack sufficient arms. Makes you wonder where all those bullets went to that the Obama administration purchased. They sure did not have any for Charlottesville 2 weeks ago when McAwful said they were outgunned.

  5. lance says:

    Stay safe everyone.

  6. Me says:

Not saying there is anything wrong with the carrington call of your faith, but you need to address it!!! And you wonder why the main stream media harps on the dog whistle thang!!! And if you can’t address the PPM thang with in your own faith, then don’t expect others to do the same! Climate change has been called a religion for a reason! I didn’t do it, But I heard most of you out there say it!!! But when I hear of others being dissed on cause they are atheist err something???? Remember some of them are with you, and agree with you, and don’t like the shitty end of the stick they are being stuck with! Remember that!!!!

    • Me says:

So do you understand the lesson here?????

    • suyts says:

Me, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of a belief in God, especially as Christians view it. What happens on this earth, and in our lives is not that important. It is what happens afterwards which is important. ……. So, I have some temporary pain on this earth ……… so what? Everyone does. I have a much better life to look forward to! ….. Do bad things happen to good nice people? Yep! We live in a corrupt world. (And, you know this is true). In a corrupt world, what could one expect? No one was ever promised a great life on this earth, except for Adam, which he corrupted. There was never a promise that if you believed in God that suddenly and forever that great things would happen for you on this earth, indeed, the promise is opposite.

But, there is a promise that you will be provided and cared for, until the Lord calls you home …… and, then, things are great!

      • Me says:

Great if it makes ya feel better and sleep better at night, But the bottom line is you know it is BS!!! And there is a reason I stopped following that christian belief, because it is all the same in the end!!!! Just be truthful and accept it!!! I already have, and the freedom is from that crap is good! Remember that freedom thang right???? 😉

        • Me says:

And it is like I said before, I just don’t understand how someone like you can see the corruption in Climate science but yet can’t or put on the blinders with religion???? They scared you that much that you can’t get pass that????? That fear is a strong motivator isn’t it??????

        • cdquarles says:

Well, Me, it seems that you have the same kind of faith. You rag on Christianity’s founding premise; yet you know that if said premise is false, said religion is vain. That applies to yours.

That said, you are literally swimming in evidence of God. God IS. God is existence. He is all that is necessary and proper for life. You blind yourself. May you find faith in That Which Is True. So far, you haven’t, again it seems to me.

      • suyts says:

Me, Cd is right. I see God everywhere I look. I don’t know why you can’t see Him. Believe it or not, it sometimes doesn’t make me sleep better. The book of James teaches us that faith without works is dead …… so, I often wonder if I’m working properly, and try to straighten my walk.

The “freedom” of which you speak came from God. He is the Father of Freedom. You have the freedom to choose between good and evil, right and wrong, Heaven and Hell ….. it’s all your choice, your freedom.

        • Me says:

Yep, that is why I said I am alone, why, Because I am afraid err somethang!!! No!!! It’s because everybody else is working on a crutch to look good in someone else eyes!!! And I will continue to stand alone and not follow the social norm until I see no corruption in that!!! Bottom Line!

        • Me says:

So in the end , you can see God every where and claim it to the end but it still doesn’t make what you believe any different that all the other religions out there!! And you can say what makes me think I am right and everyone else is wrong!! Well First I am not making a claim of something, and Second look at how many different splits of Christianity there are, Third what about all the other different beliefs??? PPM is what it is!!! Bottom line!!!

        • Me says:

So in the end if you choose to ignore all of that, then you are no better than all the AGW\ACC types out there, same shit different pile!!!! I didn’t just want to become an agnostic for shits and giggles, there is a reason why!!! And in the end, I may have to face the maker you claim, I don’t know, and thus far neither do you!!!

        • Me says:

And as for this freedom thing!!! You really don’t want Me to go there, now do you?

        • Me says:

And I am not saying this because I don’t like you, I am saying this because I do, And personally I am not trying to change your mind, that is up to you! And you will not change my mind!! But I like what you are doing here!

        • cdquarles says:

Look, Me, I don’t give a flyin’ fig about how I appear to others or what they think of me besides trying to be the best person that I can be. They’re in the same boat that I am in. I care about what He That Is wants. I exist because He exists, and without Him there is No Thing (no existence).

A question, how can you know that there is no corruption in the human world (society) when you and they are the product of flawed parents? You try to live, it seems, by the Christian code; but you deny the He That Is which makes it Be. That’s why we pray for you to find what you seek. Once you accept the Reality of Him, despite Him not being material and yet He Is, your life will change.

  7. Me says:

This woman is awesome, We need more like her!!!!!

  8. Me says:

This is what I mean! I guess I chose the wrong words way back when when using the L word!!!!! I won’t make that mistake again!

    • Me says:

Right Kim???? Cause I know how that looked after the fact but, this was what I was thinking??? But you couldn’t help but make it look the way you wanted it to!!!! I learned that lesson very quick???? So it isn’t just the progressives it is the conservatives that does that too???? Unless you have something else to say????
