August 12 Scripture Selection: Psalm 133-134
Food for Thought: Ps. 133
Unity and anointing (the manifested power of God), represented in Psalm 133 as precious oil and life-giving dew, always go together hand-in-hand. If we want to see great things happen in and through us as the Church, there must also be an appreciation for unity. Unity among the brothers and sisters in Christ must never be neglected or regarded as secondary.
Jesus expressed the importance of unity in His prayer spoken in John 17 just before He was to be arrested and crucified. He prayed in verse 11, “Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.” Further, He added in verses 20-23, “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” We being one was obviously a priority for the Lord.
And just before He ascended back to heaven, He gave His followers the instructions to wait together for the infilling of the Holy Spirit, the anointing (Acts 1:4, 5). As a result of their remaining in one accord as they prayed and worshiped the Lord (Acts 1:14; 2:1-4), they received the gift of the Holy Spirit, and many marvelous signs followed them immediately. What’s more, because of their unity, they were in a position to receive the wave of all the new believers who entered the faith that day and soon after.
Often times, people sacrifice unity for really petty reasons, and pride is at the bottom of it all. They would rather get their way than see the marvelous benefits of unity and the anointing. They are the ones who, sadly, lack an appreciation for the Body of Christ and its true purpose on earth. But when they receive the revelation from the Word of the immense value of unity as it pertains to the anointing, then their priorities change and reflect the Lord’s. And that is when great things begin to happen.

The Church,the Body of Christ is a Living Organism.
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ…..
Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
The church the organization is man made. It has a lot spots and such things.
So even if it has unity………
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said * , I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate , saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean
