Or, rather, they did. I don’t hear these songs, much, anymore. It’s a particular sub-genre which doesn’t seem to exist any longer, and I’m sadder for that.
Gladys is a great singer, but, Dusty had a diversity of music which is notable.
For those who played the songs, you sang along, didn’t you?
as long as we’re hanging our heads in SHAME…

Interesting. Now government competes with drug cartels for the big stashes of cash, putting them on equal moral footing. Louis XIV anyone?

Asset forfeiture in the USA is equivalent to becoming an AK-47 wielding thug in Syria. A friend of mine calls it the MONEY ON THE TABLE approach – there’s money on the table, you take it. So instead of becoming a real or pseudo Jihadi in Syria, in USA you become a cop; and take what you can.
This is of course the opposite of what a lawful society should look like – it is a regress to pre-Hobbesian civil war.

Can’t be bothered???
These weird laws together with draconic prison terms make the USA appear as a post-rule of law fiefdom. I had a coworker who rescinded his US citizenship over things like this. Became a German, he has family here.
There are weird prohibitions in Germany as well but you get a slap on the wrist for breaking a regulation you never heard about, usually, not 2 years in the locker.
Reason: WE HAVE NO CORPORATIONS RUNNING PRISONS.

I was looking for something else and I couldn’t find; but I found this and it’s rather nice. Wonder whether this is a Moog guitar.
Ah, it looks like the guitarist plays a Fender coronado II and uses an E-bow for the continued sound. Didn’t know that one. Nice gizmo.

…and via various associations I arrive at this, which has nothing to do with anything but is way too beautiful to be forgotten; Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins.
Nja it’s a playlist. Song To The Siren, of course.
Yes I sang along!
I am the son of one preacher and grandson of and two preachers, with more in past generations.
I only sing along in my head. My voice does not allow me more than that.
