Germany seems to be caught between to goals….. one is to have the bestest every renewable portfolio…… the other goal is to have actual reliable and usable electricity. As most of us know, Germany shut down their nuclear plants. So now they need some energy. They’re all over the board on this, sort of. Obviously no plans for new nuclear power, and no major solar projects…. which they don’t do much of, theirs is mostly small rooftop installations. But, they’ve got a lot of wind coming on line. But, they’ve got more coal coming on line, and natural gas as well.
Of the ones beyond planning stage, they’ve got 20 off-shore wind farms with a stated capacity of 7154 MW. We know they don’t produce near their capacity, so they expect much less than that on the average. They also seemed to have found room for some pumped storage, coming in at 2730 MW. Will they stock them with fish? Then they’re bringing 13 gas fired plants on line with a capacity of 8410 MW. They’re bringing two different types of coal plants 3 that burns brown coal and 12 which burns hard coal. Don’t ask me which the nutters think is worse, I don’t know. I suppose I could care enough to Google it, but I don’t. The total capacity of these plants will be 16,471 MW. I sure am glad their going green! I was worried about all of that CO2 they would have emitted!
So, there you have it, the renewables are so successful in Germany that even their new installs won’t have a 30% mix. I’m not sure why they bother. Eight of the coal plants are coming on line this year or next. As are two gas fired ones. And can someone explain to me why digging a giant holes in the ground, filling one with and then pump it up a hill to collect power when it goes down the hill is better than just putting in some hydro plants on existing waterways?
My thanks to SEPP.
It looks like they are still in pursuit of a perpetual motion machine somewhere, but the only thing that is perpetual is the hypocrisy.
I don’t know why they’re bothering. Off shore is the worst of the worst. The installation is horribly expensive, that have to run it as high voltage DC and then invert it to AC at a huge cost in both equipment and energy. For what?
It only works when someone has the knowledge to do it them selves, and then they must have the papers that qualifies them for insurance purposes to make it cost effective. Then they have to live the life style that brought them to do this in the first place, you know, to have to deal with no power at times because they are not really having to depend on it. There are saloons of different environmental factors to that one. But overall on a mass scale is isn’t cost effective and doomed to fail.
So what do you think of what’s going on at Real Science?
It seems pretty clear to me that the guy who offered his servers for the web site went stupid and took Steve’s site. Treachery and betrayal is an awful thing.
I wonder how much incentive that cost?
Quite a bit, I suspect, but I think he’ll continue and bounce back. He was trying to monetize his site, and making some decent progress, I think. WP isn’t a good format for that, which is why he moved in the first place. I feel bad for him, and I’d help if I could…..
I don’t mean to Steven. It’s kinda like the Colonel with KFC if you know what I mean.
Hmm…. ok, I’m slow tonight. I’m not following.
Somebody bought them out, and they are a spokes man now with a silent partner!
You know. Not that is what happened here because the AGW crowd hates Capitalism so they say. 😆
You think so? I didn’t think he got that far in monetizing it.
No, I don’t know. But something crazy is going on there.
And no one is talking about it until now.
Well, Steve’s been pretty tight lipped, but I’ll take him at his word. I think my scenario is probably right.
Yep, I agree.
Again I don’t mean Steven but the servers as you said earlier
So can you see it now, maybe, or not? Just throwing it out there.
Yeh, I think I see what you’re throwing out there, but I don’t see Steve giving up control of something he worked so hard to build.
He can’t if it wasn’t his servers.
And now I see something else going on, but I screen captured it and have it saved.
Well, it would be more of a domain ownership thing, rather than the physical servers….. sure, the servers would have all of the stuff, but, it could be taken down if Steve had the only password to the domain name stuff. Steve could still force this issue if he paid for the domain himself, but I don’t think he thinks its worth it to have it back. It was pretty wonky.
I don’t know, just what I see.
What are you seeing?
Did you posted this?

Lol, yep! The story is the one under this one….. I figure it could be fun to torture some alarmists with for a bit. peer-reviewed and everything! 🙂
I posted this, but there are post above missing there now?

Because of the trust issues at Steven’s sites lately, if you are a warming alarmist, and take this the as scarcasm, then good, if your not a warming alarmist, then it means what it means. I’m happy to see everyone here too.

And I responded to that with “who is this Me you are referring too?” Then Eric Simpson said something about “hey it’s Me, nice to see Me again” but sorry, I don’t have the of Eric Simpson’s post screen captured just my response to him????? So I don’t know???
Yes, I remember the posts.
Hey Goofy…..Steve made Fox News!

That’s really neat!
