Nevada’s Second Largest Daily Drops Obama, Endorses Romney

On Saturday afternoon, the Reno Gazette-Journal — the second largest daily newspaper in Nevada — cut ties with President Barack Obama and endorsed Governor Mitt Romney for President of the United States. Here’s the most salient excerpt from the devastating editorial:

However, while he had to contend with a Republican Party that was determined to deny him a second term at any cost, Obama cannot avoid the consequences of poor decisions and misplaced priorities.

Foremost among them was his early focus on an overreaching health-care reform plan that wasted 12 very valuable months of his and Congress’ time and cost him precious political capital. The manner in which the legislation was drafted violated Obama’s pledge to govern openly, and its passage — leveraged through a supermajority — served to further galvanize the partisan divide in Congress. Fear of the impact of that reform and the costs associated with it continue to play a major role in preventing businesses from hiring new employees at a time when nearly everyone agrees that jobs must be the president’s foremost goal.

A vote to re-elect Obama promises four more years of the same. In the two debates between the two candidates so far (a third, on foreign affairs, is scheduled for Monday), the president has shown little understanding of how his failures are affecting the nation, and he hasn’t offered any tangible proposals to change course.

That about says it all.  Monday will be Obama’s last chance to stop the bleeding.  Momentum is swinging hard for Romney.

  1. America doesn’t like feeling like a loser. We left loser Europe to be the winner we dreamed of being. Obama makes us feel like losers. Romney may win by more of a landslide than even you and Dick Morris are predicting.

Obama stood in front of Americans and said he lowered taxes on the middle class. He’s a bold faced liar.

If you work for a small business (and some large businesses), guess what? You aren’t getting the pay raises or benefits you would have received had this empty chair not spent his first four years passing the largest set of tax increases on businesses in the history of our country.

Your employer is spending your ex-pay increase (around $3,600 per employee per year) on 22 new taxes and tax increases, new fees, and new regulatory costs. In 2013 and again in 2014, a new wave of taxes on businesses take effect.

When Obama should have been focused on creating jobs he was focused on screwing the job creators.

Based upon Ads (which is purely subjective without any quantitative data to support the conclusion), I would say Obama is scared of losing Nevada, and has already given up on Virginia.

Tonight, the rest of the undecideds find out if Romney is a war monger (he is not). So Romney just has to continue his debate performance, and nothing Obama does will make a difference.
