RIP John Coleman …… And, Thank You So Much!!!!!

My heartfelt condolences to all who were close to this giant in meteorology, founder/co-founder of The Weather Channel.  While I never knew the man, he helped shaped part of who I am, today.

For those who don’t know, this man was one of the brave voices skeptical of man-caused global warming, or AGW, as many of us came to know the notion.  Learning of his passing has caused a flood of memories I have.

Readers here will know I don’t post on climate much, anymore.  But, we all used to be very engaged in the discussion.  I don’t post on it much because it’s a dead issue.  Sure, we still have the same tired old people babbling and blathering about it, but, it’s over.  And, to be sure, John Coleman had no small part in getting it killed.

John Coleman was one of the many voices which really piqued my interest in the issue.  It wasn’t the fact that he was a meteorologist, it was the fact that he was a meteorologist for 60+ years which caused me to think about the global warming issue.

Of course, John Coleman wasn’t the only voice, nor, was he the most prominent voice.  But, like all of the other great voices skeptical of AGW, his was of reason and facts.  And, like all the rest of the voices, his arguments were easily referenced.  That is to say, he didn’t appeal to the authority of his expertise or experience, but, rather, stated verifiable facts which supported his arguments.  You could look up what he was saying and discern for yourself if it was true or not.

And, so, we at Suyts set out to do just that.  From monitoring the sea-levels to the snow and ice coverage and the temps …. and all the other outrageous claims of the lunatic fringe, and the accompanying historical data (most often ever changing historical data).

Because of the voices such as John Coleman, we looked.  And, we found the data incredibly wanting.  Imagine where we would be were it not for voices such as John Coleman’s!  I shudder to think.  I don’t believe it is a stretch to think the world will forever be in debt to John Coleman and people such as himself.

Godspeed, Mr. Coleman, Godspeed.

I’m sure there are many, many blogs and websites wishing him good journey and the best for his family and friends.  Here are a couple ….  here and here.  Marc Morano has a couple of good vids to watch.

Wow, like many I was rotted with the news, so I just found out about it here. I still watch the news a bit just to see what derangement syndrome they are on next, But never saw anything about this. But eventually this is everyone’s fait! If there is an afterlife then I hope John continues doing what he did.

So now the IG says they have recovered the missing texts….well kids, what does that mean?
If it was a software glitch…they wouldn’t be there….if someone tried to delete them and claim after the fact that they were not saved in the first place

For the north americans interested to see a combined super blue-blood moon 😉 (first chance since 150 years)

“A blue moon, a supermoon and a lunar eclipse will all fall on the same night at the end of January in an event that hasn’t happened in over 150 years.
These three lunar events separately are not uncommon, but it is rare for all three to occur at the same time. The last time that there was a blue moon, a supermoon and a total lunar eclipse at the same time for North America was on March 31, 1866. “
