Well, wow! There’s a lot to say about the Trump tape, so please forgive me if I miss an aspect on this.
“Grab them by the pu**y” …….. yes, a horrible thing to say. Here’s some quotes from the tape.
At that point in the audio, Trump and Bush appear to notice Arianne Zucker, the actress who is waiting to escort them into the soap-opera set.
“Your girl’s hot as s—, in the purple,” says Bush, who’s now a co-host of NBC’s “Today” show.
“Whoa!” Trump says. “Whoa!”
“I’ve got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her,” Trump says. “You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”
“And when you’re a star, they let you do it,” Trump says. “You can do anything.”
“Whatever you want,” says another voice, apparently Bush’s.
“Grab them by the p—y,” Trump says. “You can do anything.”
Later, it was documented that Trump and Zucker “air kissed” when they met. Apparently, there was no “p—y” grabbing at that point …… or, for that matter, at any point.
Now, raise your hand if you are entirely surprised to learn that Trump is a cad. Whether you’re pro-Trump or anti-Trump, none of this should be a surprise.
At this point, most of the faux outrage seems to come from the establishment Repubs. This was an eleven y/o hot mic tape of a private discussion between two guys having some locker-room chat.
Now, for me, this is a huge nothing burger. Trump is exactly what I thought he was. For the Dims, well, they have always characterized Trump in this manner. This shouldn’t move the needle in any manner. Sadly, it will, mostly because of the low-information voters who are/were undecided at this moment. It always fascinates me about the amount of people who are supposedly undecided at this moment in the POTUS race. How can one be undecided at this point? At any rate, there’s no sane person who is going to change their vote in this election because of a character issue. If character matters to the individual voter, they would never support Clinton. It’s laughable. They were entirely okay with Willie shoving a cigar up the privates of a young intern in the oval office, and to this day insist that in no way disqualified him from being POTUS, but, to hear some horrid banter is just a bridge too far? Get real.
As far as the caddy statements, I hate to admit this, but, I’ve engaged in locker-room banter in the past. I grew out of that sort of thing decades ago, but, I did. If we’re all perfectly honest with ourselves, I suspect most of us have at one time or another. And, it’s not just men. I’ve had women openly comment on my posterior. I’ve also had women who literally grabbed my crotch and let me know what they wanted. It’s not that I’ve ever been a hotty stud type of guy, it’s more likely that the women were really, really drunk, or something. My point is, it doesn’t do us any good to pretend this is confined to only males. My immediate thought when I first read about the outrage on this quote was to wonder how many of the supposed outraged women really, really, really enjoyed the “Fifty Shades of Grey” book.
My very second thought was “nicely played”.
Wait ……. did I say an 11 y/o tape? It has been in the possession of NBC this entire time. But, suddenly, after holding onto this information for 11 years, now, one month before the election NBC decides the public has a right to know this all important stuff. It also happened to be on the exact day that Wikileaks dropped thousands of emails from John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chair and life-long Clinton lackey. This is also after Trump has stated that he was going to go after the Clintons on the behavior they have had towards women. This is absolutely a brazen attempt by a LSM outlet to alter the course of a US election. This destroys any notion that the US has free and fair elections. We don’t. Unfortunately, media outlets such as NBC have great sway on the American public. They are functioning, simply, as an extension of the Clinton campaign.
Unfortunately, that’s the state we’re in, today. That’s what any Repub candidate signs onto when they run for election.
Now, as to what Trump needs to do …… even before the tape revelations and especially now, I don’t believe Trump should engage in the relative comparisons between his words and Bill’s actions. The sad fact of the matter is, it doesn’t resonate. Currently, the electorate doesn’t care about character. Sure, they have a lot of people pretending it does, but, it doesn’t. Now, I would counter-punch, exactly as I’ve written here. They’re going to hammer in his words but, forget the deeds of the Clintons? When they try to hammer Trump on his words, hammer back with the words of Hillary. But, circle it back to the issues. Benghazi is perfect for this. It calls to mind the dishonestly of Hillary, while reminding the voters of what a disastrous foreign policy Hillary executed as SoS. And, then, it easily circles back to our security and immigration policies. This is what he needs to do. This is what resonates with the voters. Once we’re on security and immigration policies, then it’s easily segued into the economic issues the average US worker faces today. That’s just for the rest of the campaign, in general, but, also as well for the debate, tonight. For the debate tonight, Trump needs to be much more pinpointed and focused and ready to exploit the openings that Hillary will give him. Last debate, he just let too many opportunities go. He needs to be sharper and reactive. He needs to talk about the specific actions and inactions of Hillary. Sadly, according to Trump, he’s still shunning to work and preparation most people do before a debate. Hopefully, he’s just playing coy and did do some prep work. Else, his performance will probably be on par with his last one, which, could lose the election.
Well, those are my thoughts. What do you think?
