Sigh …… “Leadership”, Dumbasses To The Left And Dumbasses To The Right

the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country: “the leader of a protest group” synonyms: chief · head · principal · commander · captain · superior ·

I was going to put up some snarky photo-shop pic, but, I thought, what the heck?  This is a pic from a recent meeting of the two heads of state.

Some fallout against Trump, last night, was that people seem to think he “praised” Putin by saying Putin is a better leader than Obama.  Today, Pence doubled down and stated, “I think it’s inarguable that Vladimir Putin has been a stronger leader in his country than Barack Obama has been in this country”.  Now we have people’s heads aspinning!!!!

To this, my mouth is left agape.  I’ve thought about how to form these statements to make people understand what is being stated and what isn’t being stated.

Now, I’m going to have to reduce my verbiage as if I’m talking to one of my grandchildren.  For most regular readers here, please don’t take offense.

Being a good, effectual, and even “strong” leader doesn’t mean your are a nice person, or even a good person.  It simply means one is a good, effectual, strong leader.

When Trump, Pence, or anyone else for that matter describes someone as a good leader, or a strong leader, they are referencing their capabilities to lead.   Both Trump’s and Pence’ statements are ….. well …. inarguable!!!!!  That doesn’t mean they think Putin is a swell fellow, it means they believe him to be a much more effectual leader than Obama.  By any measurement of leadership, he is.  Putin remains popular among his people, he has united them in the cause of Russia.  He projects strength.  Contrast this to the divisive nature of the Obama administration, to the weakness Obama projects.

Can anyone imagine Putin going to foreign soil and calling his Russian citizens “lazy”, as Obama just did?  You see, that’s not what leaders do.  You extoll your charges!  If correction is needed to don’t broadcast it to the world, and you definitely don’t criticize your charges to other parties!  If words and actions mean anything, and they do, then one knows that Putin is dedicated to the cause of Russia and the Russian people.  We may disagree with the way he goes about his leadership, I certainly do, but, it is unquestionable that Putin puts the causes of Russia above all else.  Obama, OTOH, has left millions of Americans wondering if he even likes us or this nation.  I’m pretty sure Zero has a great disdain for many of us.

You know who are some of the people world history regards as great leaders?  People like Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, even Ghangis Khan, in many, many ways can be regarded as a great leader.  I could name countless more, and we can all argue each effectiveness and debate various metrics of the people listed, but, I really, really, really hope I don’t need to beleaguer the point.

You know something else which strikes me?  Both leftards and supposed conservatives alike seem to have forgotten that long ago time when George Bush and Vlad Putin had a decent relationship.  Why?  Because they had a mutual respect for each other and each other’s perspective.  Vlad didn’t play with George because he knew George didn’t play.  George didn’t play with Vlad because he knew Vlad doesn’t play.  Vlad clowns Zero at every turn.

One of the things mentioned as people recoil to the concept that Putin is a better leader than Zero is the Ukraine/Crimea debacle.  I find this particular line pretty interesting.  As reader may recall, I adamantly opposed the Russian actions in this regard.  But, their actions are understandable.

To quickly recap the events.  The West, (with the US’ knowledge, encouragement, and aid) was responsible for the ouster of a democratically elected head of the Ukraine.  He was pro-Russian.  Corrupt?  Perhaps.  But, we inserted a pro-European Ukrainian head of state, who seems no less corrupt.  There are millions of ethnic Russians in the Ukraine.  There is a military port Russia uses in Crimea.  It’s their only military port which is ice-free year around.

Again, I thought there were much better ways to resolve this issue, but, I understood Russia’s actions.  If one can’t understand a nation acting in the interests of said nation, then, you’re probably not going to vote for Trump anyway.  But, there’s the explanation of someone asserting that Putin is a better leader than Zero.  Vlad puts his country first, Zero insults the American people.

  1. Their outrage is the perfect summation of what this election is about.

    • Latitude says:

Picture makes me laugh every time I see it.
Putin giving the death stare…is scary!

      Obama?….well it’s hilarious!!

      • cdquarles says:

indeed. That picture really is worth more than a thousand words.

About Russia and the Ukraine, where there is a history there and I think Putin schooled Obama there, though it seems that the lesson wasn’t learned. [One thing that I have not forgotten when taking ‘foreign’ language classes is that one must study the nation and its culture, which includes its history. Putin was doing what he thought best for his nation and its historical situation. O’s bluff was called. Just like Reagan did when he acted to get some Americans out of a bad situation involving a medical school. My recollection of that history is that Crimea is Russian territory and has been so for at least 1000 years.

  2. Latitude says:

    Damn good!!!

    …one other thing….culture
Putin knows the culture of the people in his country and plays by those rules…
..Obama, on the other hand, seems that he can’t stand our culture, what’s to change it by force..and blames it for all of the problems that he thinks we have

  3. Latitude says:

this bit of news is too funny to pass up…ok, well this and Wells Fargo

On poll shows Clinton ahead in North Carolina…..”But Clinton has a 4-point lead in North Carolina”

…and another poll shows Trump ahead…..”Donald Trump has taken a three-point lead”

    Here’s the kicker….both polls show ~25% undecided…how can a poll mean anything if 1/4 of the people won’t tell?…LOL

    remember, conservatives won’t poll

    • leftinflagstaff says:

Yeah- I’m thinking .25% are actually undecided.

    • suyts says:

I suspect there are millions of closet Trumpers.

      • Latitude says:

well….that’s what you get when liberals are following people home, flattening their tires, stealing signs out of people’s yards, standing out side voting places with baseball bats, rioting, screaming and threatening people….and on and on
Plus, with all the voter fraud and other fraud…no one trusts someone over the phone…it could be BLM or something.
Liberals are not threatened at all…they will poll

I’m not advertising the fact I’m voting for Trump either!

        • Latitude says:

…and I’m constantly getting phone calls and stuff in the mail to poll
The phone calls do not get answered….the mail goes in the garbage

“well….that’s what you get when liberals are following people home, flattening their tires, ”

Same with AfD in Germany. Nothing says ANTIFASCIST like incinerating the car of a AfD MEP, or throwing a frozen cake at the face of an AfD speaker like happened this week.
Well truth be told: the “Rote Garden” assassinated 200 political enemies during the Weimar republic: Communist murderers, not persecuted by the constantly changing governments. So violent attacks ARE the tradition of the left. They’re just very good at erasing it from history.

  4. Me says:

It’s funny with the Dems, leftards & AGW climate cursaiders, they all hate Putin because Communist Russia and what not, and in the same breath especially with the AGW types, pretty much all claim that same communist system is needed to Save The Wolrd! Bwaaaahahahaha!

It has been a while (due partially to the 18 month hiatus I had to take where I read your blog infrequently) since I could say I agree with you completely. But this one I can.

It also highlights the fact that a “3rd party” candidate (in everything but name) is tied for the lead in this election. Many are saying Trump is no Republican. They are correct. At least in the respect he is no Republican establishment candidate. And that is why he is getting a lot of non-traditional republican support. And those who will not vote for a republican again (until it is a separate party from the democrats). That is also why the “Republican Establishment” loves to dump on him like the democrats when he speaks truth. I do not want Putin as my leader. But I have said for the past 8 years he is a very shrewd and sharp leader (and strong). He has snookered Obama for almost 8 years now. And those who want to argue it are merely trying to prop up Obama with a rubber crutch.

Thanks Phil, it’s a great compliment. I never expect, nor seek, complete agreement with anyone, especially now, with my semi-retirement. When I get such comments from people whose opinions I respect ( which today is most readers here) I know I hit the nail on the head.
It’s a fantastic thing. I liken it to my discussions with my brothers. In many ways, they are of much greater intellect than I. Our world view is very similar, but, we disagree, sometimes, on minutia. So, when I make a statement which they wholly concur, I know I’m correct in the thought. And so it is, here. I don’t require validation, but, I consider it so when there are comments as such from the few commentators left here.

  6. Latitude says:

wow…..10’s of thousands of people show up to hear Clinton’s key note speech at the National Baptist Convention thursday night….

Yeah well, we have outrage production. They will not quote Trump’s actual words and try to create a howling dervish of outrage and hope that nobody looks at the source. It’s all very childish and I would say a campaign directed towards the illiterate slum population. People who can’t read and can therefore not research what is behind the outrage.

As the West is being pumped full of illiterates from Mexico., Arabia, Africa, expect much more of this in the future.

    • DirkH says:

I think there’s a giant business opportunity in software for the illiterate. “AI”‘s (Artificial Idiots , talking to real idiots) like Apple/Wolfram’s Siri or MSFT’s Kortana. Pictures. Tutorials in animated form etc.

    • Latitude says:

There’s no excuse for this illiterate crap….

Friend of ours just left….been here only 4 years…speaks flawless English…flawless castilian spanish…and of course his native Q’eqchi’ …he’s Guatemalan indian

….and yet, I know people that have been here for over 50 years…and can’t speak or understand one word of English

      • DirkH says:

IQ just varies wildly in human males – in all races.

        • Latitude says:

Not necessarily….We had so many Cubans come here all at one time, they setup their own neighborhoods…Little Havana, Hilaeh, Westchester, etc. If you more or less stay there, you can work, shop, function…all in Spanish..and never have to learn one word of English…and they didn’t.

…which says it all about immigration and assimilation

        • But, but….the Tower of Babel is our strength!!

These people don’t love America. They love a little bit of their country not being in their country.

        • suyts says:

IQ isn’t relevant to linguistic capabilities. Or, so I was told by a prominent psychometrist. It’s like being able to paint. But,that came from a fellow who spoke three fluently, two more to be able to get by and another couple of languages enough to order beer and fundamentally converse, going west to east.

        • leftinflagstaff says:

Yeah, the motivation to use it, is the more important variation.

IQ correlates with the G-factor, which is basically a general power metric of brain metabolism. You have a high G-factor, your brain does what Usain Bolt does in sprinting. You pretty much do EVERY brain task better. So, I doubt that it doesn’t affect linguistic ability.

        • Latitude says:

          don’t know about that Dirk….

I’m brain dead and fluent in two….and a little in three

For me it was just exposure…

        • DirkH says:

You can’t be that stupid. You didn’t even ask what a metabolism is.

        • Latitude says:

          LOL…..I”ve been outed!!!!

        • suyts says:

Yes, it seems counter-intuitive, but, consider this ….. in the US most people only speak one language, many, of course, are bilingual because of their heritage. But, throughout Switzerland and northern Italy even the village idiots are tri-lingual.

        • Language would seem to be more memorization than intellect. Remembering sounds and what they relate to. Then memorizing how the sounds string together, until it becomes second nature. But being able to make an idiotic statement in three different languages doesn’t make the statement more intellectual. ☺

Now, perhaps being able to read and write in multiple languages involves IQ…..

        • Or not. Could just be greater memorization. Back to greater effort and motivation.

        • Latitude says:

          LOL…I”m spanish fluent…and southern
I refuse to do all the spanish inflections and mannerisms

I talk spanish exactly the same way I talk english…..So I speak southern spanish

You should see the looks I get when someone hears it for the first time! LOL

        • philjourdan says:

          You speak “Hick-Spanish”. 😉

        • I bet quite a few brilliant musicians have had below average IQs.

        • Musicianship is just learning another language.

  8. Latitude says:

In the mean time….another overflow over capacity rally for Trump…Pensacola…..yawn

  9. Latitude says:

I’m a little pissed right now….bought a new filter for the Ridgid wet/dry….was putting it on and noticed Made in Mexico

  10. Latitude says:

Hysterical…..AP is reporting that Hillary “regrets” calling Trump voters “Basket Of Deplorables”…

    uh no….she regrets getting caught

  11. DirkH says:

Hillary makes it through two sentences without coughing or having a seizure.

Plus, she’s gargled with marbles. Or had a night out with several packs of fags.

  12. Latitude says:

    …in case there’s interest 😉

Amazon has sold out of “deplorable” t-shirts…
…but cafepress has a “keep calm and focus on deplorable” one I love!

  13. Fudge…..I was aiming for ‘despicable’ today.
