December 1 Scripture Selection: Ezekiel 35-36

Food for Thought: Ez. 36:7-12, 22-38

The Lord has used prophecy over and over to prove that He is Lord of all. He knows the end before the beginning. His Word is true, and every single detail of the prophecies either have been fulfilled or will be by the time everything is said and done. Evidence of His command of the past, present, and future is the prophecy of Ezekiel 36, which has been fulfilled before our very eyes (well, mostly before those of the generation that lived during and after WWII), and continues to this day!

The Lord said He would draw His people back to the land of Israel and bring life back to the land, and He has done so in a big way. Despite the immeasurable odds against Israel, with hostile neighbors on every side (and within), and inhospitable elements of climate and terrain, the Lord has converted absolute wasteland to a flourishing, prosperous society which boasts new innovations every day. All this He has done and continues to do for His name’s sake (vs. 21), as the psalmist points out in Psalm 106:8: “Nevertheless He saved them for His name’s sake, that He might make His mighty power known.”

God wants everyone to know that we can trust Him and take Him at His Word. He is not a man that He should lie (Num. 23:19), and He protects the reputation of His name. As we pay attention to the fulfillment of God’s Word in our own lives, as well as that regarding what He has promised for Israel and other nations, it brings us to a deeper reverence of Who He is and the power of His Word. His name is exalted, and more people are drawn to Him
