November 25 Scripture Selection: Ezekiel 23-24

Food for Thought: Ez. 23:40-45

We know from the Word that we should not judge people. It is not our place to judge, and besides, if we were honest, there are plenty of things people could judge us about, too. So it is best to be glad for the mercy and grace that God has bestowed on us and apply the same grace and mercy to others. However, there will be a time when the Lord will put us, His righteous chosen ones, in the position to judge as we are seated with Jesus at the right hand of the Father (Eph. 2:6).

The Lord calls all who have been made clean by the perfect sacrifice of Jesus righteous and saints (II Cor. 5:21; I Cor. 1:2), made one with and in Him (John 17:23, 26), which is what qualifies us to one day judge. Specifically, the righteous will judge the world and the angels. As I Corinthians 6:2-3 says, “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? …”

Until then, the Lord tells us in I Corinthians 4:5, “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.” And Acts 17:30-31 says, “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” Being one with Him, we will be participants—not just spectators—on that day. Until then, our role is one of mercy and grace.
