November 3 Scripture Selection: Jeremiah 33-34

Food for Thought: Jer. 33:3

Whatever you have known about God, whatever you have experienced, there is more. Much more. And the Lord desires to give you a deeper revelation of Himself and show you greater things that He has planned for you. All He asks is that you continue calling on Him and continue reaching higher so that He can take you from glory to even greater glory (II Cor. 3:18). Standing still, and certainly not regressing, will do. The Lord desires to take you to higher levels and show you more than you could ever imagine.

It would be inaccurate to assume what the Lord has in store for you based on what you have seen, heard, or even considered in your heart. As I Corinthians 2:9 says, “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’” There are wonderful surprises in store for you beyond your wildest imagination if you’ll abide in Him, maintaining an expectant heart full of faith for the things beyond the expected.

The Lord loves to perform pleasant and amazing surprises for those He loves. The apostle Paul confirms this in Ephesians 3:19-21: to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.”

The status quo, the “norm” in your faith-walk, eventually becomes quite unsatisfying, and so it should be. And unless you expect more, you run the risk of becoming numb to the things of the Spirit and just settling for the same ol’, same ol’. The Lord created you to experience marvelous things far beyond that which you already have and dream bigger than anything you have seen before. So keep calling on Him, and aim higher! He’ll still take you beyond that.
