September 4 Scripture Selection: Proverbs 15

Food for Thought: Prov. 15:24

Well, we know from the Word that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord (Ps. 111:10), and since we have received the Lord and reverence Him in the position as our King, we have a great promise that our way of life winds upward, everyday higher and higher. Things just keep getting better and better! How reassuring!

Since we walk by faith and not by sight (II Cor. 5:7), we can be assured that our path is getting brighter and brighter, regardless of the circumstances. Proverbs 4:18 says, “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” And as we observe the bright glory of the Lord, we are “transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord (II Cor. 3:18).”

Good things, even better things, are ahead because our path is getting brighter every day. As we know this by faith, we can say as the apostle Paul did, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28).” He further declared in II Corinthians 2:14, “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” With our path winding upward and brighter, it stands to reason that He leads us to triumph.

This is the day that the Lord has designed especially for us (Ps. 118:24), and it is bright. And what a bright future we have ahead of us as we keep our eyes fixed on Him. So rejoice and be glad! It’s good, and it’s going to get even better!
