Well, this part is not shocking ….
In an effort to learn more about the growing terrorism threat posed by weaknesses in our immigration system, Sens. Ted Cruz and Jeff Sessions have written a letter to DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, Secretary of State John Kerry, and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, asking for more information regarding the individuals in the U.S. who have ties to terrorism.
“Based on publicly available information, we have identified at least 72 individuals in the United States who, over the last year: have engaged in or attempted to engage in acts of terrorism; conspired or attempted to conspire to provide material support to a terrorist organization; engaged in criminal conduct inspired by terrorist ideology; or who have been sentenced for any of the foregoing,” they wrote. “We would like to understand more about these individuals, and others similarly situated in recent history, and the nexus between terrorism and our immigration system.”
The Washington Examiner has more:
In a chart, they said the suspects come from Bosnia, Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Iraq and even Cuba.
Of the 72 [individuals], 22 were shown to be naturalized citizens. The others were of “unknown” immigrant status or American-born with apparent Arab ties.
Recent legislative proposals have pushed to expand the naturalization process. Officials added that immigrants from Muslim nations are arriving in huge numbers.
Their letter sought information on all the 72, including their immigration status.
The letter was prompted by a recent hearing with FBI Director James Comey, in which he said that while the agency is “stopping [terror plots] so far through tremendous hard work … it is incredibly difficult.” He further warned that “[he] cannot see [himself] stopping these indefinitely.” One week later, five service members were murdered in a terror attack in Chattanooga.
The worst part is that while 72 people sounds like a fairly large number, we have no way of knowing how many have flown under the radar, and how many more are on their way.
It seems we’re not doing a very good job of screening who we let in this country, which isn’t surprising because we’ve millions who come here which we don’t even screen. Their immigrant status is irrelevant. The fact that they are here, and we’ve nothing to prevent them from getting here is the relevant issue.
However, it does seem that we are discerning when it comes to other peoples ……. While I can’t say I’m shocked, I will say I’m incensed.
A year after U.S. airstrikes and Kurdish fighters saved Iraq’s Yazidi population from death at the hands of ISIS atop Mount Sinjar, the historic religious enclave is facing death in its homeland and a cold shoulder from America, say activists.
Despite the ongoing threat of execution in Iraq, nearly all Yazidis, a Kurdish monotheistic community that lives throughout Iraq, Syria, Turkey and even Armenia and Georgia, who have applied for asylum in the U.S. have been rejected, FoxNews.com has learned. The reason why is not clear, but advocates say Washington is turning a blind eye on the situation.
“What we are seeing, in real time, is genocide,” said Frank Wolf, a former congressman from Virginia and senior fellow at 21st Century Wilberforce, a nonprofit that seeks to protect Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East. “To declare it genocide, that would expedite relief. You can’t allow it to go on.”
The Yazidi religion includes elements of ancient nature-worship, as well as influences from Christianity, Gnosticism, Zoroastrianism, Islam and Judaism. ….
…. Of the tens of thousands of Yazidis uprooted from their homes, only 10 families have been granted asylum in the U.S., according to Yazda, an American-based Yazidi advocacy group. None of the visas were issued due to religious persecution faced at the hands of ISIS. …..
…. The Yazidi plight is similar to that of Chaldeans, an ancient Christian population routed from its historic home in Iraq. Some 28 Chaldean Christians who crossed into the U.S. from Mexico are now being detained in a federal facility in San Diego, and nearly a dozen of them have already been ordered deported. ….
There’s so much “WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!” to this I can’t even imagine where to begin!
So, we’re going to deport the Chaldeans back to where??!?!!??!?!?!?!? We’re worried about 28 Chaldeans when we’ve 20+ million other illegals we’re not worried about? We’ve imported and given citizen status to 22 lunatic Islamists, but, Chaldean Christians, we’re going to send them back to their certain death?
And, the Yazidi, if they can’t get asylum status, who can? ……. Wait, I bet I know the answer to that question! You have to be of a religion which starts with the letter “M”. We’ll send our troops into harms way to save them for a moment? 10 whole families?
Well, sure, we might get overcrowded what with all the career criminal illegals and terrorists we import, we just prolly don’t have room for people actually being persecuted to the point of extinction.
Now, if that’s not enough to make your head explode, consider this. 28 Chaldeans made their way to Mexico and up to San Diego. Predators follow their prey.
How many ISIS lunatics are in the US, right now?
SECURE THE DAMNED BORDER!!!!!!!!! WE MUST DO IT AND DO IT NOW!!!!!!
