A California camp counselor — now charged with child molestation and distribution of child pornography— was able to maintain his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status and job prior to his arrest despite being considered a “potentially egregious public safety,” the Obama administration has revealed to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA).
In response to questions from Grassley earlier this year, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services confirm that the camp counselor charged with child molestation, Edgar Covarrubias-Padilla, received DACA status on May 22, 2013. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was aware that he was under investigation for child molestation November 17, 2014, according to Grassley’s office.
USCIS, however, was not aware of the investigation until March 31, 2015, despite the fact that USCIS said ICE “typically apprise[s] USCIS when a recipient of DACA or an immigration benefit is an investigative target.”
Covarrubias-Padilla’s DACA status was terminated six days after his arrest on May 13, 2015
In a letter to DHS Sec. Jeh Johnson dated Thursday, Grassley presses for more details on how Covarrubias-Padilla slipped though the cracks.
“Although the Director’s response letter states that “ICE field offices typically apprise USCIS when a recipient of DACA or an immigration benefit is an investigative target,” in this case, USCIS failed to learn of the investigation until months later on March 31, 2015,” Grassley writes.
“Despite both components’ knowledge of Covarrubias-Padilla’s investigation by March of 2015, and a referral to the Background Check Unit (BCU) as a “potentially egregious public safety case,” the revocation of DACA did not occur until May, 13, 2015, several days after his arrest,” he added.

And, then there’s this to highlight some people in our government who seems to have an ardent support of such criminals, this comes in response to the senseless and savage murder of a young lady in San Fran, by a 5 time deported, career convicted criminal in which authorities allowed him to roam the US with impunity.
The Remembrance Project’s director Maria Espinoza, speaking for the family members who lost children to illegal aliens, demanded that Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL)be censured for attacking an expert witness testifying to the dangers sanctuary cities pose to Americans.
Gutierrez exploded on Center for Immigration Studies’ Jessica Vaughan after she pointed out that he called the death of Kathryn Steinle ” a little thing” during a Telemundo interview — and three mothers attending the hearing walked out in disgust. Laura Wilkerson, Sabine Durden, and Mary Ann Mendoza explicitly stated their anger and disappointment in Gutierrez in stark terms to Breitbart News. Now, these mothers, along with Espinoza, demand that Democrats in Congress censure him for his cold dismissal of Steinle’s death and his bullying of Vaughan.
Espinoza says Gutierrez must be stripped of his membership on the House Judiciary Committee and personally apologize to the families attending the hearing.
The full letter, obtained by Breitbart News, reads:
I write to you in regard to a recent extreme and deliberately insensitive tirade by a member of the United State Congress unleashed in a public hearing against a female expert witness testifying on behalf of American families whose loved ones have been killed by illegal aliens.
On July 23 of this year, in the House Judiciary Committee hearing on Sanctuary City policies, Luis Gutierrez of Illinois spoke these words to Ms. Jessica Vaughn, the expert witness who was invited guest and a surviving family member whose loved one was killed by an illegal alien. View video.
Gutierrez’s public outrage, apparently provoked by a public recitation of his very own racially and politically-motivated speech trivializing the horrific death of a young woman killed by an illegal alien felon, five times deported, has caused an American outrage.
On July 16, 2015, Representative Luis Gutierrez, speaking in Spanish referred to the cold-blooded murder of Kathryn Steinle as just a “little thing.” View video. This very public display not only clearly demonstrated Gutierrez’s complete lack of compassion for this grieving American family, but also for the tens of thousands of families whose loved ones have been killed by illegal aliens.
This public servant’s extremely inappropriate and insensitive comments must be addressed swiftly and with a strong censure so as to discourage other public servants from exhibiting such vicious behavior. We demand the following immediate course of action:
1. Gutierrez be stripped of his membership on the House Judiciary Committee. ….

Gutierrez is a piece of work! He seems to think if he says one thing on the House floor, in English, that he can say whatever he really thinks in Spanish, and not be called on it. That racist a-hole doesn’t understand that there are millions of gringos and gringas who can speak Spanish.
Now, many people will try to explain these events away as rare occurrences, and some people just slip through the cracks. But, as Mrs. Espinosa notes, there are “tens of thousands of families” who don’t believe these are rare occurrences.
But, if they are, indeed, just some people who ‘slipped through the cracks’, no one in our government seems interested in filling the cracks. Indeed, just look to Rep Gutierrez’ reaction to people insisting that someone does something about this crime wave! Not only is he not interested in fixing the problem, he attacks the very people victimized by this needless problem! And, of course, Gutierrez isn’t an isolated incidence. The attack on the victims is constant in this regard. Indeed, all of America are victims of this abuse of our benevolence and good nature.
It just seems to me that our government is intentional, and if not intentionally, at the very least, knowingly, subject our citizenry with all sorts of depraved lunatics. From murderers, to child molesters, to Islamic terrorists, no one in our government seems to really care that much. People pointing out this problem are attacked, even in our own congress, and, the people proposing solutions such as securing the damned border are vilified.
This is depravity.
