July 28 Scripture Selection: Psalm 103-104
Food for Thought: Ps. 104:1, 2
All around us there are people just stumbling around in the darkness with no clear idea of where to go or what to do. They truly are in darkness and in need of Light in their life in order to see clearly. They need Jesus Christ, the Source of all light. He is the light of the world, and He promises in His Word that all who follow Him shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. (John 8:12).
The Light is the only true source of life (John1:4), and darkness cannot ever prevail against it (John 1:5). It is absolutely glorious. That’s why the city the Lord has prepared for us has no need of sun or moon to illuminate it; His glory shines brighter than any other inferior source (Rev. 21:23, 22:5). Obviously, there will be no room for even a hint of darkness, not even the slightest shadow there, for no evil can stand against His pure light. (See James 1:17.)
What is amazing is that we as believers are bearers of that great Light already because He dwells in us! In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus clearly states, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Fulfilling this scripture gives people a hint on this side of heaven of the glory of the Lord that shines beyond anything our natural minds can imagine and lights the way for those trudging in the darkness to finally find their place in Him.
So today, let us be sure that we tap into the Source of Light within us so that we shine as beacons and lead the lost to obtain the Light, as well. After all, someone along the way did that for us so that we could know Jesus as the One to be our eternal Light and end the suffering in the dark for us.
