So I Recently Had A FB Conversation With An Old School Chum About The Battle Flag …….

His view is that the flag is inherently racist and represents a vile part of our American heritage and history.  He likened waving the battle flag to Blacks as the same as waving a Swastika to Jews.

I disagreed, but, he’d have none of the reason and rationale I provided.  Sadly, before I saw what is to follow, I had already told him I’d give him the last word and leave him alone about the subject.

It would be difficult for anyone to reconcile what is to follow with his position ……….

Note the people of color, even some waving the flags ….

‘THIS FLAG’S NOT RACIST’ – CONFEDERATE FLAG SUPPORTERS WELCOME OBAMA TO OKLAHOMA

As President Obama arrived at his Oklahoma City hotel last night, he was met by a group of several dozen people defiantly waving Confederate flags.

(photo via the Associated Press)

According to reports, the group was organized by Andrew Duncomb, an African-American supporter of the Confederate flag.

The group also gathered outside Durant High School in Duran, Oklahoma where Obama was speaking about expanding broadband internet to low-income communities.

“[L]ook at these people, they all followed the black guy out here. Do you think that any of them are racists?” Duncomb asked in an interview with local media channel KFOR.

Some of the protesters explained to local media that they were there to demonstrate the true nature of the flag as a symbol of Southern heritage.

“We’re not gonna stand down from our heritage. You know, this flag’s not racist. And I know a lot of people think it is, but it’s really not,” said a man who told local media he drove three hours from Texas to join the protest. “It’s just a southern thing, that’s it.”

The White House has not responded to the protesters.

President Obama is expected to visit a federal prison in El Reno, Oklahoma later this afternoon.

The flag represents many different things to many different people.  I believe it is immoral to project what it means to you onto other people who hold it in a different light.

A note:  I would correct the protestors on one thing.  While I certainly do appreciate their view of the battle flag, it should never be waved higher than Old Glory.

An oversight I’m sure , no one noticed the short guy.

  2. Latitude says:

I don’t think the flag is any more racist…than tutus are gay
    Makes about as much sense…

But it plays into their bigger picture….reparations

    • cdquarles says:

And there are no reparations owed. 1. 600,000 or so people died in that war and 2. proportionately speaking, more free blacks owned more black slaves than whites did. So who owes whom, what, exactly.

      • cdquarles says:

Oh, yeah, whites and blacks fought on both sides.

      • leftinflagstaff says:

And US slavery was impossible without African slavery. Send Africa the bill.

        • cdquarles says:

Yes, and Muslims were heavily involved in it.

        • DirkH says:

Jews as well. (Also in the USA)

        • gator69 says:

Jews were mainly slaves in Egypt.

        • DirkH says:

And mainly slave traders in the Roman empire and in Venice. And in the USA.

        • DirkH says:

…Tel Aviv is the global centre of the white slave trade . Ukrainian girls.

        • gator69 says:

Te Aviv is a multicultural city, and it is muslims who have sex slaves as a right of their religion, not Jews. The Old Testament refers to a sin called “man stealing”, which is involuntary slavery, and punishable by death.

“Anyone who kidnaps someone is to be put to death, whether the victim has been sold or is still in the kidnapper’s possession.”
          -Exodus 21:16

The real capital of sex slaverry is Mexico…

Tenancingo, Mexico, widely considered the sex trafficking capital of the world, is the single largest source of sex slaves sent to the US, according to the US State Department.

The city was highlighted in a recent Newsweek article describing new city-to-farm sex pipelines, in which prostitutes from Mexico working mostly in Queens, New York are delivered to farms by traffickers to have sex with migrant workers.

        • gator69 says:

Historically some Jewish people owned and traded slaves. Several scholarly works have been published to rebut the antisemitic canard of Jewish domination of the slave trade in Medieval Europe, Africa, and/or the Americas, and that Jews had no major or continuing impact on the history of New World slavery. They possessed far fewer slaves than non-Jews in every Spanish territory in North America and the Caribbean, and in no period did they play a leading role as financiers, shipowners, or factors in the transatlantic or Caribbean slave trades.

        • cdquarles says:

I’ve heard that story about Jews being involved in the African slave trade. I don’t buy it. Where are the verifiable documents?

        • gator69 says:

There were Jews who owned slaves, just as there were Christians who owned slaves. Slavery was a part of the culture of the day, just as abortions are today.

The anti-semitic smear is claiming that Jews were dominant in the slave trade, which they were not.

Something most people today do not understand is that in the past, peiople would sell themselves into slavery in order to pay off debts, support there families, or because they were not capable of supporting themselves. Modern ideas of slavery are not relevant to all slavery of the past.

The Bible mentions slaves, but specifically condemns “man stealing”, which is enslaving someone against their will.

        • gator69 says:

          … support “their” families…

“The anti-semitic smear is claiming that Jews were dominant in the slave trade, which they were not. ”

And immediately I get accused of anti semitism. Happens the moment one says “Jew”. Well, if you want to find out who rules over you, find out who you may not criticize.

        • gator69 says:

Sorry Dirk, but you read and regurgitated anti-semitic literature. I am not saying you are anti-semtic.

So the innocent rule over us? Sorry but that saying rings hollow in this case.

    • suyts says:

Further, my people fought and died while freeing slaves. What do I owe? Reparations? For my nation freeing slaves? For my people dying for it? …… I’m thinking whatever debt is imagined, it was paid, in full.

      • Latitude says:

My relatives came here long after slavery was over…..I owe nothing!

I’m just sick and tired of having to hear about all these privileged spoiled brats…claiming that someone owes them something

        • leftinflagstaff says:

And your relatives are not you. They could have owned every single one. You still owned none. You owe nothing.

      • leftinflagstaff says:

And your relatives are not you. They could have owned every single one. You still owned none. You owe nothing.

        • Latitude says:

exactly…one the one hand they want to claim “no child left behind”
…and on the other, they want to blame those exact same children and put them behind

        • leftinflagstaff says:

I feel so strongly about it that I had to say it twice! ( or I just screwed up the posting) 🙂

But yes, this blaming and punishing the innocent for the acts of others, seems to be the new ‘Justice.’

  3. leftinflagstaff says:

Yeah, if we’re banning by what people think, I think PPH logo is murderous. And maybe even racist considering the color of most of its victims. Thank you in advance for its prompt removal from all locations.

  4. gator69 says:

Doesn’t the KKK use crosses? Where is the outrage over this?

  5. gator69 says:

The swastika (also known as the gammadion cross, cross cramponnée, or manji) (as a Chinese character: 卐 or 卍) is a symbol that generally takes the form of an equilateral cross, with its four legs bent at 90 degrees. It is considered to be a sacred and auspicious symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

Can we stop blaming symbols? “R”, “A”, “C”, “I”, “S”, amd “M” are all symbols connected to racism. Is the alphabet next?

  6. Ted G says:

    James.
On a point of interest, I was born and raised in Liverpool, England. It became a very wealthy city because of the slave trade. Liverpool is full of huge old mansions and wealth shipping merchants homes, Many are still there. Many now owned by the University of Liverpool and used as annex buildings) There are beautiful parks with horse sand tracks for the wealth merchants and shipping family’s to ride their horses (still there). The 7 miles of docks are mostly from that era and the 1000s of arched cellars (deep underground) that were used to imprison the slaves (with the iron loops to run the chains through them) until the final shipping voyage to the caribbean and America. Like a lot of teenages I played guitar and had a decent voice. I joined several rock groups, (Great times) A few of the old rock clubs of the day were in those same basement cellars. I use to play in some of them fairly often, all night rock sessions with 1 to 4 bands were common. One basement cellar that people throughout the world know about is the Caravan club where the beatles were discovered. Liverpool is a very historic city full of history and for me great memories.

The confederate flag is the latest reiteration of rape culture , white privilege, gay cakes and what have you, all nonsensical campaigns by the SJW’s.

taking the single campaign seriously distracts from the grander scheme of things. Will the millenials notice who their leaders are?

While I agree with most of the content of this article, the authors facts are just plain wrong in some cases. This statement could not be more wrong…

For instance, liberty proponents fight back against the militarization of police just as avidly as leftists do, if not more so.

Obama is the king of leftists, and has even said he wants a civilian police force as strong and capable as the military.

      And here…

Look at Ferguson, Missouri, where anyone with any sense should be able to admit that the government response to protests was absolutely a step toward tyranny, ignoring violent looters while attacking peaceful activists.

I have an old friend who works in Ferguson, and the police often could not distinguish between prtoestors and thugs, as they were more often than not one and the same. Peaceful people were not attacked by police, but were caught in the crossfire. Responsible human beings stayed away from the mayhem.

      And of course this…

I would suggest they keep in mind the outright fascist brothel for the military-industrial complex the Republican Party had become at that point and remains to this day. Almost every stepping stone that Barack Obama is using today to eradicate the Constitution was set in place by the Bush dynasty, including the Authorization Of Military Force, which was the foundation for the National Defence Authorization Act and the legal precedence for indefinite detention without trial of ANY person (including an American citizen) accused of terrorism by the president of the U.S., as well as the use of assassination by executive order and the implementation of mass electronic surveillance without warrant.

Unlike Obama, Bush acted with the consent of both democrats and republicans. We did not have two presidents in office when the 911 attacks ocurred, one democrat and one republican, so of course it was a republicam who responded. And Bush responded with the support of both houses of congress, bothparties, and the majority of Americans. Did we overreact? Sure. But to lay this at the feet of Bush and republicans is thoroughly dishonest, and/or ill informed.

That said, I am as anti-PC as you can get.

Well, too simple – even though they are quickly dying out, there are still leftists who despise Obama for having become the Drone and surveillance master that he is. These leftists are quickly converting as the Left has no core values left and replaced them with SJW hystrionics, they convert to Libertarianism (I don’t mean the infiltration attempts but real road to Damascus type converts – Brandon Smith himself is one, albeit an early one).

So yes, Obama is the king of Leftism – of the burnt out shell of Leftism that still roams the Earth like a Zombie. THe German partner of this zombie party, in the Progressive Alliance – is the SPD – who is wholesale being infiltrated by Turkish Muslims – becoming a hollowed out shell itself but of an Islamic character.

It will be fun to watch the future seizures of the Progressive Alliance.

Trump: “McCain will lose his primary”
GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday defended his supporters from Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), saying his attacks on the right will cost him in his campaign for reelection next year.

“They weren’t crazies — these were great Americans,” Trump responded

The Islamic State group has released one of its more revolting beheading videos to date, primarily because of the shockingly young age of the perpetrator.

In the video, a boy wearing military fatigues and a black scarf around his head stands behind a man who is kneeling on the ground, the pose seen so frequently before an execution begins.

An adult jihadist stands by to oversee the child — whose age is unknown — as he carries out the gruesome crime which involves positioning the man on his stomach, beheading him from behind with a small knife, then placing his severed head on top of his lifeless body.

I guess this is their version of “VBS”.
