Administrators Tell Student to Take American Flag Out of His Truck, Prompt All Students To Fly Flags in Cars
Here’s a feel good story of the day (I think so anyway, parents and administrations may disagree with me).
Peyton Robinson is a high school student in South Carolina. He drives a big truck and loves his country, so naturally, he put a large American flag in the back. Administrators at York Comprehensive High School reportedly asked him to take it down because someone was offended. He refused.
“I’ve been told by 2 admistrators at my school this morning that I can’t have an American Flag on my truck because other people have complained about it. Well let me tell you something, I have every right to fly an American flag,” Robinson wrote in a post on his Instagram account.” It will not be coming off of my truck. This really pisses me off. I ask that everyone that sees this post that attends York Comprehinsive flys an American flag of some sort on whatever they may drive to school tomorrow to prove a point. I will not let this go down without a fight. #America #fightforourright”
The response from fellow students was overwhelming as dozens of cars showed up to school the next day flying American flags.The administration said the concern about the flags flying was about safety, not in response to someone being offended. More from ABC News:
“We asked students not to fly flags, period, in the parking lot of the high school because it is a safety issue,” Duncan said today. “It has nothing to do with the American flag.”
The school’s principal, Christopher Black, told WSOC: “Anytime you get a flag of any kind flying, it creates a visual distraction.”
But things changed on Thursday after students, parents and veterans protested the school’s decision — with more than 70 vehicles waving flags and honking horns.
School officials eventually put out this statement: “Due to the outstanding display of patriotism through peaceful demonstration, it is apparent to us that many are not happy about this policy,” the statement said. “School officials have reviewed the standing policy regarding flags and have decided that an exception will be made for the American flag, as long as the size of the flag(s) does not create a driving hazard.”

It was originally reported that the school removed his flag from his truck, and didn’t tell him…..
The flag was the last player in this incident that needs removal.

Maybe the guy with the flag was at risk of it flying off his flagpole, wrapping around the throat of the school principal and strangulating him. Completely accidentally of course.
