Well, cool! Pretty darn smart of UKIP!
In spite of the disappointing singular seat UKIP won, the vote turn out was pretty good for an upstart party. Furthermore, I believe it will significantly increase come the next election ….. provided they continue to do what they have been doing ….. and that includes keeping Farage front and center. He resonates with common people. He’s shown calm and grace under fire.
Why will they continue to grow? ….. Because the Conservatives are in charge. It is impossible for the Conservatives not to make missteps along the way, and it is impossible that some bad events along the way will happen. People tend to blame events on the party in power, regardless if the party in power had anything to do with them, or not. UKIP is an alternative to the Conservative party. So, unless things in the UK suddenly turn to roses, sunshine, and rainbows everywhere, more and more people will become disenchanted with the Conservative party. As Conservatives will not likely suddenly join a green party or a socialist party (read Labour), many, will then, identify more with UKIP.
That’s my take on it, anyway.
