Happy New Year!!!!

From last year ——

Well, they won’t know if you don’t tell them.  Who could possibly know what it means?  So, I found a translation or two….  Smile

Auld Lang Syne Translation:

Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And days of long ago !

Chorus:
For old long ago, my dear
For old long ago,
We will take a cup of kindness yet
For old long ago.

We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the daisies fine,
But we have wandered many a weary foot
For old long ago.

We two have paddled (waded) in the stream
From noon until dinner time,
But seas between us broad have roared
Since old long ago.

And there is a hand, my trusty friend,
And give us a hand of yours,
And we will take a goodwill draught (of ale)
For old long ago!

And surely you will pay for your pint,
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet
For old long ago!

I like to play this in C.  For the younguns, just move everything up one.  D to C, A7 to G7, Bm to Am…. etc.  The pickings below this is in D, move that around as you see fit  You’ll have to move the chord switch to the appropriate places yourself, this is just how it copied to WordPress.

I got this from am old Christmas book so it's easier and more traditional sounding and on easier frets. Find the tune and this is really easy to play and sounds great! e|---------------0-----------0-----------0--3--5--5--3--0--0-----------------| B|------1--0--1-----3--1--3-----3--1--1----------------------1--3--1--3------| G|---0-----------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| [ Tab from: http://www.guitaretab.com/m/misc-traditional/337154.html ] e|---0--------------------5--3--0--0--------------5--3--0--0--3--5-----------| B|------3--1-----------1--------------1--3--1--3-----------------------------| G|------------2--2--0--------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| e|---5--3--0--0--------------0-----------------------------------------------| B|---------------1--3--1--3-----3--1-----------1-----------------------------| G|------------------------------------2--2--0--------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

My friends, I’ll be back later, but, I’ve some old acquaintances to see in a minute, but, you, my friends, will never be far from my thoughts.

Later, if I’m able, I’ll post on the past year, and hopes for the new one.

May God bless you all, and may this next year see you happy, peaceful, and prosperous!!!!

Happy new year to Dirk, who just celebrated it, and to Kelly, who celebrated it long enough ago he should be recovering from his hangover. And happy New Year to all you who have yet to celebrate it! Or as my daughter says –
Feliz Año Nuevo (Venezuela is 1/2 hour ahead of EST).
