September 5 Scripture Selection: John 10:22-42

Food for Thought: John 10:28, 29

The Jewish leaders had noticed the popularity of the Jesus and wanted to put an end to it so that the people would continue to follow them instead of the Lord. But it was too late. There were sheep already in His hand, and nothing could snatch them away from Him, no matter how much pressure the leaders would apply. The ones who believed could not be pulled away as if they were in some kind of tug-of-war.

The Lord must have felt that this is a very important concept for us to grasp, as He said it twice. There are many jealous, religious people who would attempt to pressure and force people to go their way, but it won’t work. Once people know the truth, and receive Jesus in their heart, the Holy Spirit seals them (2 Cor. 1:21, 22; Eph. 1:13, 14), and the enemy cannot penetrate. What is done in the spirit cannot be reversed with natural means, no matter how severe, and there is no spiritual means that could be stronger than the grip of the Lord. (The only thing that could cause one to leave the hand of Jesus is one’s own will. Jesus will never obligate anyone to do anything.)

In John 10:28, and 29 , Jesus was serving notice to those religious leaders that they could not have His sheep! Nothing they could ever do would snatch them from His hand. And that is still true today.

Isn’t it wonderful!!! Our own personal and spiritual body guard! And all you have to do for it is to say “yes”, and accept Him!

  2. Thank you. I went out and played some music last night.
    I sang this song.
