US President, On 23 Americans Being Mass Murdered …..

Detached.  Uninterested.  And, doesn’t give two shits about the Americans, or anyone else, who were murdered on the 777 which was shot down over the Ukraine.

Townhall has this ….

As Ukraine Crisis Unfolds, Obama Presses Ahead with Burger Photo Op, Infrastructure Speech, Dem Fundraiser

And now, a short, tweet-based summary of our Commander-in-Chief’s actions in the immediate aftermath of today’s developing disaster in Ukraine:

Guy Benson @guypbenson

Meanwhile… MT @markknoller: “I’m starving,” said Pres Obama as he sat down to lunch…He order a cheeseburger and fries. (Medium well)

President’s schedule unchanged – he’s now at the Charcoal Pit near Wilmington where he ordered the “Pit Special” – burger & fries.

The advice POTUS evidently never received, or chose not to heed:

Guy Benson @guypbenson

“Mr. President, 23 Americans appear to have been murdered in the Ukraine conflict. Perhaps we should cut short this burger photo op.”

Remember, we were just told that this president disdains photo ops…such as surveying the current border crisis in person. Following lunch, Obama proceeded to make a (very) short statement, which included an odd formulation, and a behind-the-curve comment:

Obama says they’re trying to determine if any Americans were on on plane, segues to prepared speech.

1:12 PM – 17 Jul 2014

One ought not fault the president for the brevity of his remarks in the earliest hours of a confusing and fluid crisis. But hundreds of deaths as a result of a (likely deliberately) downed airliner “may” be a terrible tragedy? An NBC analyst ripped the State Department for lagging far behindnews reports of 23 American casualties. Minutes later, the president said the government was still attempting to determine if any US citizens were aboard. At which point, he quickly pivoted and launched into hisregularly-scheduled speech on the pressing need for more domestic spending on infrastructure:

Matt Viser @mviser

Obama, in sum: A plane crashed. It may be tragic. We’re trying to see if US citizens were on board. Hey, great to be in Delaware!

In case you were wondering, yes, he’s been giving basically this exact same speech for years. Even some of the president’s ideological brethren were deeply unimpressed with today’s performance:

President Obama massively dropped the ball just now. 23 Americans killed and he says ‘it looks like a terrible tragedy’ then back to jokes?

Let me help, Mr President – it IS a terrible tragedy, and it’s more probably mass murder of your citizens & many other nations’ citizens.

President Obama attended a political fundraiser in Las Vegas the day after the deadly Benghazi terrorist attacks, did the same immediately after delivering his eulogy for the Fort Hood victims, raised a toast to “happy hour with the Democratic Party” minutes after issuing a statement on Russia’s invasion of Crimea, golfed through the shutdown crisis, and led a conga line through the White House at his lavish birthday party in the midst of major economic upheaval — just hours before Standard & Poors downgraded the United States’ credit rating for the first time in history. I’ll leave you with the punch line from today:

Leadership.

Indeed. When you’re plainly even a bigger douche than Piers ………

THERE WERE AMERICANS MURDERED!!!!!  PUT DOWN THE F’N CHEESEBURGER AND FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED AND WHY!!!!!!  DO YOUR F’N JOB!!!!

Wait…. scratch that.  Given that you’re the world’s biggest SCoaMF, just keep doing your idiotic photo-ops, while more and more Americans die.

I don’t believe it’s too much to ask to at least pretend to care.  You scumbag.

  3. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Being criticised by Piers Morgan, of all people, for a limp response is going to be pretty painful.

OTOH to only briefly mention the tragedy then jet off to a fundraiser is not a good look:

President Barack Obama provoked fury in the U.S. on Thursday by casually devoting less than a minute to the deaths of 295 people aboard a Malaysian airliner, as he began an often jokey 16-minute speech about the need to expand America’s transportation infrastructure.

The president’s next stop after Wilmington was New York City, where he headlines a Democratic Party fundraiser Thursday evening. Tickets for the cozy event go for as much as $32,400.

If I’m mischaracterising his response I apologise, but the performance so far has not been especially Presidential in my rather distant Aussie view.

  5. DirkH says:

Can we call it the MH 17 Lusithania already?

Or how about MH 17 Franz Ferdinand?

    • philjourdan says:

I would call it just another Sudetenland.

      • DirkH says:

Had Putin occupied a territory that analogy would make sense.

        Lusithania fits the best.

        • philjourdan says:

Lusitania started a war (or brought a country into an existing one). Sudetenland was where they backed away from a war to allow the other side free rein. And that is what Obama has given Putin. He is on record as telling him that in 2011.

        • DirkH says:

It took 2 years from the sinking of the Lusitania to make the US enter a war that was already raging when the Lusitania sank. The war in the Ukraine is already raging.

You are referring to the “I’ll be more flexible after the election” remark. I think that was just one hollow phrase from Obama to Medvedev; just like he would assure the pope that the Virgin Mary is holy, just say what works best.

Why should Obama be accountable to a Russian? He’s never been accountable to anyone. Maybe to his handlers, because they can blackmail him.

        • philjourdan says:

Dirk, you miss the point about Obama. Accountable? Who is talking accountable? Obama is the antithesis of accountable! But the comment made by Obama was clear to Putin. He took it to mean “You can have the Sudetenland”. So Putin took it! It has nothing to do with accountability. It has nothing to do with what Obama may have intended it to mean. Obama has proven himself to be an idiot in every facet of the word.

It only matters what others take what Obama says to mean. And Putin has eagerly demonstrated what he took it to mean.

  6. Larry Geiger says:

“I don’t believe it’s too much to ask to at least pretend to care.” This represents a big part of the problem. I don’t care if the president cares. Ok, there I said it. The president can’t care about every single American. When something happens around the world, should the president skip lunch. No. Should his lunch be reported as news. No.

The point is that it really doesn’t matter too much how much he cares. What matters is whether or not he’s competent and doing his job. That’s the issue. That’s really the one issue. Tragedies will happen. All. The. Time.

The whole “caring” thing is the liberal redirection away from competency. “Oh all will be well if we just elect someone who cares.” Baloney.

Do I want the president of the 16,000 employee company that I work for to care about me? No. Do I want him to do his job competently? Yes. How likely is my future employment based on his caring about me. Not too likely. How likely is my future employment based on him being competent. Very likely. And that’s the issue.

The problem is that Obama is not doing his job. He has a couple of jobs. Administration of the executive branch (which by the way is way too big, but anyway). Direction of foreign policy through the instrument of treaties and managing the armed forces. Appointments of folks to important jobs. Enforcing laws through his management of the executive branch. He has totally failed to perform his duties in any kind of a serious manner. He’s incompetent.

So what happens if he is incompetent. Well then it doesn’t really matter whether he cares or not because it just doesn’t matter. If the general is incompetent and gets all of his soldiers killed, it doesn’t matter if one of them was his brother and another one was his best friend. They’re still dead.

The LSM spends way too much time speculating about who cares about what. Spread the subjectivity around and they can spin up anything. It’s the deeds and facts that bother me.

    • cdquarles says:

Agreed. ‘Caring’ is not in the job description of the POTUS. That’s in the job description of husband, wife, etc. His job is to faithfully Execute the laws (has he ever done this? /sarc). His job is to FOLLOW the Constitution of the US AS WRITTEN in order to that job of faithfully executing the laws. Not transforming America. Not ‘redistributing’ stuff (not wealth, you can’t really redistribute brains and drive and talent). Not squawking about non-issues like ‘income inequality’, as Utopia is Greek for no such place, income equality is Econ-speak for no such state of being.

    • suyts says:

I treasure both of you guys. Your comments are always welcomed, and I almost always agree with them. But, in this case, I don’t believe you’ve thought this through.

Why does one become competent? It is true, some people are blessed with an affinity towards one thing, or another. But, that doesn’t make them competent. They have to care about their job.

What’s the president’s job? Sure, part of it is being a competent administrator. Is that all to being the president of the United States? The leader of the free world, or, just the US? Being a cross between Warren Buffett and Bill Gates? That’s what we want in a president? That’s all that’s required to be my president, and yours? God forbid!

The last I heard, 23 American souls died in that act of terrorism. At what point, do we decide we should, or shouldn’t care about American citizens dying over and on foreign soil? If 23 is NBD, then why in the heck should we care about the 4 who died in Libya? Or, is it that we should only care about agents of our government? And not, private citizens? What’s the job of the president, again? What makes him competent?

This nation has 3 parts of it’s construct. Our constitution, which is towards the protection and for the people of this nation. Our land, which is occupied by the people of this land, and then the PEOPLE of this land. That is to say, our nation is an aggregate of the the Constitution, the people, and the land. Both the Constitution, and the land, is for the support of the people.

Can an American president be “competent” without caring about the people? I don’t see how that’s possible.

      • Latitude says:

if Bush had shot the plane down…he’d care

      • cdquarles says:

I hear you James, but with leftists, ‘caring’ does not mean what you mean by it. Those folk trashed GW Bush because he ‘cared’ enough about the people doing the job of rescuing people and dealing with the aftermath of Katrina to not interfere with the work by doing a ‘drive-by’ photo-op. Yep, flying over the area to survey things while relying on your citizenry meant far more to me than that Christie-O hug-a-thon.

      • leftinflagstaff says:

But usually, the way government shows ‘caring’ is too have too much involvement in people’s lives. And their wallets. Forcing others to bear the burden of their ‘caring.’

Currently, the POTUS’ ‘caring for women’ means he wants employers to pay to end human life. Caring for one at the expense of another is exactly what the Constitution forbids government to do.

      • Larry Geiger says:

My point was, it’s a leftist ploy. Obama “cares” about everything, or so they say, but really cares only about himself. I totally agree with CD about Bush going into a disaster site. Ridiculous. It’s more leftist posing. Don’t go for photo ops. Don’t go because you care. Do your job. Do the job that you said that you wanted (which obviously you didn’t want).

I guess that I just get tired of all the useless blathering about leftist/socialist stupidity. We didn’t use to have to listen to this stuff. We got things done. Christians didn’t stand around poking each other in the eye and “talking” about how much they cared, they got together, raised a bunch of money and built a hospital for the sick people. And then improved those people’s lives. We did stuff. Yeah, we cared, but we did stuff. Now we just sit around and poke each other in the eye and whine because the government doesn’t “care” enough. It’s pitiful.

Maybe I didn’t say it right because I’m not the most articulate guy in the sandbox. I just know that we are being sucked into their world and their way of talking and their way of framing stuff. And it’s extremely frustrating. Having said that, I didn’t mean that folks shouldn’t care.

Lastly, about that last sentence. Caring about law and the constituition is caring about people. I believe that if the president cares a lot about following the law and running this nation according to the constitution then he would be caring about people. He would be enforcing the good laws that we have instead of letting his DOJ run rampant. He would care about how the IRS does it’s job for ALL Americans. He would care how the VA spends it’s money and he would care more about medical care than some $150,000 a year beaurcrats bonus. I could go on and on.

I know for an absolute fact that our current president does not care about me. Period. He has absolutly no use for me. There is nothing in my life that he can use to advance his “agenda” or his personal aggrandizement. I’m a little tax paying machine that he will use and abuse me in any way that he is able to. The things that I care most about, faith, freedom, family he has no use for and will seek with all of his will to undermine and destroy those things.

      • suyts says:

Yeh, I think it was the word “care” and the difference in the way I used it, and the way the left uses it.

Caring about law and the constituition is caring about people.

        100% agree.

  7. Jim Masterson says:

    From a Huff-n-Puff article:
“At least 189 of the dead were from the Netherlands. . . . In addition to the Dutch, passengers on the plane included 29 Malaysians, 28 Australians, 12 Indonesians, nine Britons, four Germans, four Belgians, three Filipinos and one person each from Canada, New Zealand and Hong Kong, according to the airlines and those governments.”

Assuming 298 is the correct count of souls on board, that leaves about 17 more whose nationalities are not identified. I don’t see many Americans on that list.

    Jim

  8. DirkH says:

Obama very busy NOT talking about the plane.
    http://twitchy.com/2014/07/18/glad-that-plane-thing-is-over-obama-discusses-his-love-of-guacamole/
Something in the entire operation must have gone wrong.

    • DirkH says:

MH-17 should not even have been there:

““During the combat actions in Donetsk’s airport the communication tower, a part of the united air control service was blown up,” he said adding that “planes cannot fly there.””

“On July 8, Ukraine’s State Aviation Service banned all flights over the Donetsk and Luhansk regions aiming to provide “adequate safety and security for all flights of civil aircraft in favor of state aviation.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council took a decision to close the airspace over the area of the so-called anti-terror operation to commercial flights three days ago, Rosaviatsia reported.”

      http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-07-18/final-moments-flight-mh-17-russian-side-story

So what made them fly over a whole battailon of Ukraine’s BUK SAM launchers?
Too many sevens for an accident IMHO…

So it looks like this is done to make Obama look incompetent and Hillary competent in the eyes of the Dem voter, to have a smooth transition. While at the same time pressuring EU pols into submitting to the American empire.

Currently an above average number of Social Democrats in Berlin are caught doing kiddyporn and Methampetamine. Tit for tat, for the CIA spys kicked out of Germany. This might accelerate and start to involve Merkel’s CDU. (Go for it Langley!)

so she can run her mouth off with any opinion she wants

If she were president, it would be a completely different story….she would be huffing and puffing…and the rest of the world would be ignoring her….just like they do Obama

      • philjourdan says:

Not quite. She can say anything, but there are penalties. As her “dirt poor” comment clearly showed. We can hope she continues to “say anything”. As she does have a taste for shoe leather.

    • philjourdan says:

Yes, but the simple fact is that when all is said and done, neither Obama nor Hillary were around to get the 3am call (that came at 5pm eastern time). The faithful buy Hillary’s schtick. But the rest of the population does not, and that is why her book tanked so badly.

    • philjourdan says:

Put another way – one would ask – do you want a leader who follows poorly? or one that leads? Hillary is following poorly right now. Following – by a wide margin – the leaders who have been on top of the Russian situation for a much longer time. Crimea/Ukraine is as much Hillary’s fault as it is Obama’s.

  10. DirkH says:

First members of Merkel’s CDU – leader of Foreign Affairs Comittee in the Bundestag Norbert Röttgen, and vice leader of CDU Bundestag faction Schockenhoff – demand German mitlitary in Ukraine, under UN command or whatever goes; following the wishes emanating from the empire. Because MH-17. Hey Panzers in Kiev!

I hope that their team (Merkel & friends) soon finds itself out of a job. And I’m actually optimistic about that.

  11. kelly liddle says:

I am wondering when the retraction will come about 23 non existant Americans (one dual national only who didn’t use his/her US passport to board plane). Goes to all involved including those who post stuff such as this and the quotes of those public figures above, best to wait for official figures.

    • DirkH says:

The “Dutch” were probably all Malaysians with Dutch passports and their offspring.
      The “Americans” maybe as well.
The four “Germans” probably as well.

A few days ago two “Norwegians” tried to run over German policemen in their SUV. Yeah right Norwegians. Probably Arabs with Norwegian passports.

That’s how the media report these days.

    • suyts says:

I’m not sure one vs 23 would be all that meaningful in this context. It was an act of terrorism. Hundreds of people were wantonly destroyed.

      • Me says:

You are all missing the point here, it is a war zone, why would anyone expect this wouldn’t happen.

the Russkis say the plane shouldn’t even have been there.
Somehow I have the feeling this message will not get a lot of traction in Western media.
The Lusitania was also intentionally steered into U boot infested area. And the British escort withdrawn before.

        • Me says:

That’s not what I’m saying, but it’s too late for that flight, probably for the Lusitania as well as they were just following orders. There is wrong and right and then there is dead right but it doesn’t do you any good to be dead right unless that was the intent to be a martyr for a cause.

        • Me says:

If you want to be that, then step up and be the leader and do it for the cause if that is what you believe, but don’t put others that don’t know what they are in for in peril.

        • DirkH says:

You said “why would anyone expect this wouldn’t happen.”.
I pointed out that the area was devoid of airliners before MH 17 arrived.
We would have expected that every airline would avoid a war zone, and they did, until MH 17 flew over it.
It is empty now again of course.

So the question is, who directed MH17 there. Someone did.

        • Me says:

And that’s why I mentioned about following orders, the pilots of that had to take those instructions\orders, same with the captain of the Lusitania.

        • philjourdan says:

Maybe not. Where is MH 370?

          <<

I guess Me, that you’ve never had to file a flight plan. Even military pilots have some leeway as to which routes to fly. One of the things you’re suppose to check are NOTAMs. Those would have warned about the war zone and recommended flying elsewhere. My guess is that the pilots didn’t do that–just a guess.

When the Soviets shot down KAL007 in 1983, the pilots apparently didn’t put in their way-to points correctly and unintentionally flew over Soviet airspace. There are lots of things to screw up when you’re flying these advanced airplanes.

          Jim

        • Me says:

You are correct Jim, I never had to file a flight plan.
          1. Whose mistake was it?
          2. KAL007 wasn’t a hot war it was the cold war.

They would have known it’s Delta from Atlanta to Hawaii

It wasn’t normal…..they didn’t have everything that goes with that StoAir

I know politicians are scared of Putin…..I’m just shocked people are not out in the street screaming their heads off about this

Agreed Obama is not the total government. But he appoints the heads of the agencies. The heads of the agencies make the decision for the agencies. And they are all more stupid than he is! Proof? Boston Bombers! While he was butt sniffing every conservative group in the nation, those clowns waltzed in and blew up a marathon! It takes a special kind of stupid to be that incompetent.

THey did hunt down two Chechens, that much is true. And one of the runners got so scared he tripped over his own feet. I saw that.

I get the feeling that I’m not that welcomed here anymore? Is that right?

Post has expired. It’s moved below the “more post below” line. Blog posts have a way doing that. Sort of neat effect that is just an attribute of how most blogs work. Kind of a self limiting medium. I kind of like that. I like finding new blogs and then reading back. It’s fun to see how things develop over time. But since no one is probably going to read this comment anyway, have a nice day.

Calm down. Even I have to sleep occasionally.
Me, I’m reading all comments on suyts including yours because we have this international bunch here.

Jul 28th is 100 year anniversary of the start of WW I! I just looked.

Good that the Panzer divisions are in Bulgaria and Rumania already. Doing exercises. Waiting for something… MH 17 was the cattle prod for the Europeans. One week of propaganda ramp up now.

Me, don’t be silly. You’re always going to be welcomed here. The whole point of the blog is to get other people’s perspectives, and you offer yours freely.

I try to read all the comments, and respond to as many as I can, but, time is a SOB. I just don’t have as much of it as I used to.

Another theory that makes sense, from a commenter at ZH.

“Listen to this starting at 1:07:00 for the explanation of what happened: http://mp3s.nashownotes.com/NA-636-2014-07-20-Final.mp3
Summary: Ukrainian military jet flew next to MH17 and jammed the MH17 transponder. Separatist BUK missile system picked up Ukrainian jet as a legitimate military target and fired. Military jet moves away and MH17 is hit instead. ”

I have not checked out the mp3 myself.
