Well, the more things change, the more things stay the same.
A Polish magazine said Sunday it has obtained recordings of a conversation in which Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski says the country’s strong alliance with the U.S. “isn’t worth anything” and is “even harmful because it creates a false sense of security.”
In a short transcript of the conversation, a person identified as Sikorski by the magazine Wprost tells former finance minister, Jacek Rostowski, that Poles naively believe the U.S. bolsters their security. Using vulgar language, the person argues that such beliefs are nonsense, and that the Polish-U.S. alliance alienates the Russians and Germans. ……
Well, I’m not sure I understand the part about alienating the Germans. They have an alliance with us, as well.
But, thanks to the nonsensical foreign policy of president Zero, our allies have no idea which way we’ll go if our help is needed.
In the early years of this nation, George Washington warned us about making alliances and treaties. This is something we typically should not do. Presidents, such as Zero, (I pray we never see another like him) only compound the problem.
When Zero started his presidency, he sounded like a non-interventionist. But, since then, his words and deeds have been all over the board. Knowing he has no respect for our laws, you can imagine what he thinks a treaty obliges him to do ….. nothing ….. or something, depending on the polling.
I wouldn’t trust the words on an old parchment, especially when you have Zero as the US president.
