So, we see this from Breitbart …..
It took Dave Brat’s shocking victory over House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) for Chris Matthews and Chuck Todd to understand that the Tea Party movement is a state of mind and not a fad or a flash-in-the-pan movement.
A day after Brat ousted Cantor in a race that blindsided the often conventional and lethargic mainstream media in their backyard (the mainstream press missed the biggest upset of their political lives in a district that was a two-hour drive from them), Matthews declared that the elites in the media had to stop looking down on the Tea Party movement.
On MNSBC on Wednesday, Matthews said he was listening to Brat, a college economics professor, speak after the race and felt, “he’s certainly up to the ranks of most politicians I’ve ever dealt with. He speaks in a speculative manner and an intellectual manner. He can handle any debate on this program or my program.”
“This looking down our noses at tea party people has got to stop,” Matthews said. “They have a message, they’re as American as any liberal is, and they’re really angry about the failure of the system.”
He also said working Americans are frustrated at the “complete corruption” of government just like workers in Eastern Europe were against corrupt communist regimes before the Berlin Wall came down.
“We can’t control the deficit, we can’t control the debt, we can’t control the border. What is government good at?” Matthews said. “And that’s the question that’s happened on every issue we’ve covered on our show.”
Chuck Todd, NBC’s political director, conceded that it is going to be difficult to pass amnesty legislation when the economy is leaving many American workers behind. Todd said that American workers who are not insulated from the economic downturn are not going to want a flood of cheap labor pouring into the country who are going to compete with them for the few jobs that are available and lower their wages.
It took Messrs. Matthews and Todd five years to understand the disconnect between American workers and a permanent political class far removed from their economic troubles and a mainstream media that helps insulate those in “Boomtown” or “This Town.” If Messrs. Matthews and Todd spent more time listening to former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s words to understand her appeal instead of mocking and taking cheap shots ……..

I think there’s a couple of things at play, here. No, I don’t believe Matthews has come around, nor, do I believe he ever will. But, I think Breitbart nailed it when they said, “… the Tea Party movement is a state of mind and not a fad or a flash-in-the-pan movement.”
As we know, Brat received support from Tea Party types, but, he’s not officially part of any Tea Party. But, that’s the way it is with the “Tea Party”. There really isn’t a Tea Party, but, a bunch of organizations which cater to a specific mindset, a specific group of people. They are conservative, with a libertarian bent, who are sick of our politicians.
Matthews seems shocked that Tea Party types would back someone who is intellectual. It demonstrates how out of touch he is with the American people and specifically Tea party types. It’s dawning on the imbecile that there’s actual and significant depth to our positions.
Further, I think Matthews realizes a couple of other things. Ratings. He knows MSNBC and his show’s ratings suck. He has to say this to allow for Tea party type guests. Without them, he’s going to remain in the basement. The other thing Matthews will encourage, the division of the Republican party.
For the last few years, I’ve cautioned the Tea party types, and, I will continue to do so. This is a fine line we have to toe. We have to toe this line! Timing is everything.
What this nation cannot afford, right now, is to split the Republican party. We simply cannot have another eight years of Democrat rule. At some point, a few years from now, this nation may be ready for a 3rd party. But, we simply can’t do it now. There is also, still a possibility the Republican party will move towards the views of the Tea party types. I truly hope they do. But, for now, at least until the 2016 elections, after the primaries, Repubs need to come together and realize this moment in history.
On a near daily basis, the ruling Democrats cause harm to the fabric of this nation. Matthews only mentions 3 specifics. And, I share the concern of those three. But, I’m more concerned with the flaunting of the US Constitution and US law. I’m concerned that Dems don’t understand equal protection and equal application of the law. Well, I’m beyond concerned. I know they don’t give a damn about the concept, they prove it every day. They’ve also proven they don’t care about having legitimate elections. They don’t understand, nor care about a representative form of governance. For them, it’s damn the rules, damn the laws, damn the Constitution, and to hell with what the people want, we know better and will force our view of better on this nation.
We simply cannot allow another eight years of this.
So, go, fight the good fight, but, after the fight, come together and defend this nation!
