May 28 Scripture Selection: Romans 8:28-39
Food for Thought: Rom. 8:29, 30, 32, 33-35, 37, 39
Every human being seeks to define his identity, especially as it relates to others, and more importantly, as it relates to God. Today’s scripture goes a long way to help with that.
First, we are made in the image of God’s Son who is the “firstborn among many brethren.” As born-again believers, we are brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ. To continue, scripture tells us that we have been predestined, called, justified, and glorified. These are powerful words and well-worth taking the time to meditate on to grasp the depth of what the Word is saying about us.
Verse thirty-three goes on to say that we are God’s elect, the ones He chose, and that there is no one who could bring a charge against us because He has justified us. He did all that for us because of His immense love for us that never would leave us. We are loved. And through Him and His love, we are more than conquerors.
Throughout the Bible there are even more scriptures that assure us of who we are, but if these scriptures don’t elevate your self-esteem, then I don’t know what will. Sometimes our perspective is entirely earthly, and we lose sight of the more accurate picture from God’s point of view—the only one that matters. I pray we all gain a deeper understanding of today’s selection so that we proceed on our journey of life with our heads held high in confidence of who we really are.
