Keep Your Shield Up November 30

Scripture Selection: Psalm 28:7; Proverbs 30:5; Ephesians 6:16

Food for Thought: Ps. 28:7

What would you do if you saw someone throw something directly at your face? Your instant reaction would probably be to hold up your hand or duck behind something to protect yourself. It’s only natural, and right.

And so it is in the spirit realm. We should have our “reflexes” of faith in God and in His Word so keen that our shield of faith raises and remains around us as protection from danger, a measure so very necessary in this world to defend against the constant, harmful flaming darts of the enemy who comes to kill, steal, and destroy.

Often the only thing between you and the devil is your shield, so do not let it down, no matter what. Some lower their shields, or never lift it up in the first place. And then when a destructive or harmful event happens in their life, they blame God. God is not in the business of bringing harm to His people. In fact, He has done everything necessary to keep us safe from harm by giving us His Word and showing us how to use it. The rest is up to us.

The key is to remain strengthened by the Word and by our complete confidence in Him, and to aggressively use our shield of faith. Then our hearts fill with joy and our mouths with songs of thanksgiving, all because our shields are up and our trust is in the Lord.
