Yahoo/AP Decide Now Is A Good Time To Lie To You About Sea Ice

Will it ever stop?  Will the babbling lunatics ever bother to take a look at reality?

10,000 walrus come ashore in northwest Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — An estimated 10,000 Pacific walrus have gone ashore on Alaska’s northwest coast and are bunched along a beach near the village of Point Lay.

The National Marine Fisheries Service says 1,500 to 4,000 walrus were counted Sept. 12 and numbers had swollen to 10,000 on Friday.

The animals are counted using aerial photographs.

Walrus historically use sea ice to rest as they dive for clams and other food on the ocean bottom.

However, sea ice in recent years has receded far beyond the shallow outer continental shelf. Chukchi (chuk-CHEE’) Sea walrus in 2007 began showing up in large numbers on Alaska’s shore in late summer. Last year, there was enough remnant ice to keeps the mammals from going ashore.

Walrus in such numbers are in danger of being crushed in stampedes caused by airplanes, human hunters or polar bears.

Hmm, last year there was enough remnant ice ….. except …..

We’ve got over 350,000 km2 more sea ice this year than last.

But, this is what passes for “experts” and “climate science” and “climate journalism” for the nutters.  Notice there are no references.  No quotes.  No accountability for this misinformation.

They just continue to lie to the populace.  And, most of the ignorant masses, rather than looking up stuff for themselves uncritically accept this nonsense.

I don’t know why the walruses do what they do.  Apparently, neither does anyone else.

Isn’t that always the case? Open a new outhouse and all the redneck (walruses) come running!

Yahoo is the MSNBC of news websites anyway; from what I’ve seen.

What about them poor Polar Bears? Shouldn’t we see whiny articles about poor Polar Bears 2 months before COP19 in Warsaw?
Ah, here. A wonderful fairytale and a new climate change-induced tragedy for the poor (thriving) polar bear population.

    Ohhhhhhhhhh NOES!

Built for the extreme conditions of the Arctic Circle, walruses spend about two-thirds of their lives in frigid waters, and the other third on frosty land. They are strong and graceful swimmers, able to dive down to 260 feet to feed on the ocean floor. Generally, they forage underwater for 2 to 10 minutes at a time, then haul out on ice or land to rest. They use their tusks and flippers for traction on slippery surfaces.

Walruses migrate with the pack ice, traveling south during the Arctic winter and north during the spring. Gregarious creatures, thousands can be seen packed right up against each other on ice floes and beaches. Except for during breeding season, these herds are usually separated by sex, so mothers with calves stick together, and adult males stick together.

Forget the Climate Change Carp at the end – LOOK AT THE PICTURE…any ice there?

  4. Walruses and polar bear are increasing in numbers, winter is coming – IPCC is becoming more shameless and irlevant

Let me see if I got this right. As the article says, Walruses dive for clams and other things to eat on the bottom. They are disappointed that the Arctic is not completely frozen, which of course would make it very difficult if not impossible for Walruses to eat. And further, they are also disappointed that there isn’t enough ice to stop the Walruses from making landfall?

Are you f@cking kidding me? Who are these stupid people? Sounds to me more like they are advocating for the annihilation of the Walrus community. My God man…. Very sick people indeed…
