Constitutional Law Professor Doesn’t Know The Difference Between Republic And Democracy

Sigh, Zero, you’re such a dumbass.

So Zero has realized he’s not emperor of the world.  So he’s turning to congress for approval to use force in Syria.  In his speech he states ……

“I have decided that the United States should take military action against Syrian regime targets,” the president said. He added: “I’m also mindful that I’m president of the world’s oldest constitutional democracy.”

Where did you Dems get this clown?

In a true democracy, he’d be asking the people of the US for permission.  In a true democracy, the people would elect the president.  But, we don’t live in a democracy.  We have a constitutional republic, instead.  We democratically elect our representatives, in turn, they and our constitution (as determined by our judges) rule the people.

The president’s role is to execute the laws of the land passed by congress, within the constraints of constitutional authority.  Yes, he’s commander-in-chief, but, he’s constrained in the use of the military.  US interests must be imminently in  peril or he must come to congress.  That’s why Reagan didn’t need congressional authority in Grenada, there were American citizens there, and in danger.  That’s why Bush went to congress for action in Iraq and Afghanistan.  And, that’s why Obama’s involvement in Libya was illegal.

Know your role, dumbass!  Or, at least try to understand the form of government you’re supposedly leading.

    by why?….there’s never any repercussions
Obama has gone around the rule of law so many times already….and other than a bunch of whining from republicans…nothing is done about it

    • squid2112 says:

That is a good question. It is painfully obvious that this turd can do absolutely anything he wishes and nothing is to be done about it. Republicans are pussies and won’t stand up and fight for anything. Republicans seem to enjoy being led around by the nose by Democrats. They fall for every gimmick and trap, they don’t stand firm to their principals. It is just disgusting. The POS occupying our White House should just go right ahead and do anything he pleases, as nothing will ever happen to him.

      • leftinbrooklyn says:

Don’t lay it on the Repubs. They’re really just more of the government. It’s really always been more our duty to put an end to this. We’re born with that job description. We’re just no longer qualified for the job.

  2. play nice says:

Obama’s mouth wrote and check his ass can’t cover .He hopes the congress says “NO” so he can back down without losing face. It’s all about his legacy from now on.

  3. Bruce says:

I suspect he has realised two things:

    1. A strike on Syria is massively unpopular with the voters, especially Democrat ones
    2. The evidence he has been basing his position upon has more questions about it than first met the eye

From what he’d said this last week it made me think that the original intention to strike Syria was based on the intel reported in the Times of Israel, since he used some of the same phrasing as in that report. But just afterward the leak about the Saudi discussions with Russia was noticed by the MSM. I suspected at the time that the thing which tipped the Administration into a war footing was a backdoor confirmation by the Saudis of the Israeli intel (or whatever it was that was reported in TOI).

So if Obama has been spoofed by the Saudis then this move to call in the Congress makes a lot of sense. He cannot now get out of a strike on Syria because of his ‘red-line’ speech and his histrionics this week. He cannot denounce the Saudis (if they are behind this) because that would be catastrophic to pretty much everything. So someone in the Administration has probably pointed out to Obama that the UK vote offers him an out: if Congress as expected votes down a strike then he can say to the press, well my heart was in the right place but those dastardly Republican’s wouldn’t let me make Butcher Assad pay for his terrible evil. Obama could actually come out of this rather well.

And if through some unexpected insanity Congress actually votes for a strike then if later down the track it is found the evidence was bogus Obama can just blame Congress for the war.

And that is why I think he has done a triple backflip with pike and has gone to Congress.

I guess he is proving he was nothing more than a quota kid. No wonder he refuses to release his transcripts. 4F is not something you want people to see.

  5. kelly liddle says:

James you are just playing a bit of semantics here. Of course Obama knows what government he is in. I’ll correct for you just so you understand, “the US is one of the oldest nations that has a vibrant democracy built into the constitution.” Your president is human and as such will make mistakes when talking as do you and I. I hope you live in a democracy but question that at times LOL. You live in a representative democracy, yes even if you think the politicians don’t seem to represent you and your ilk.

    • DirkH says:

Obama is insane. He constantly “misspeaks”. He called the US military “my military”. I can easily imagine the howls from the left if say Merkel had called the Bundeswehr “my army”. Obama is delusional ALL THE TIME.

    • kim2ooo says:

Sorry, Mr Liddle, there is nothing you can say, or do, to protect, or excuse, this nutter. 🙂

I don’t think there is any point talking about what seems to be minor mistakes. Another point is under your system he is not even a political contender any more. Worry about actual actions and the actions of like minded Democrats. Assuming you don’t like Obama’s direction you would want to change the minds of the majority of voters who might vote for a Democratic President again (at least in the next term) I am guessing, not alienate them by worrying about little things and convince them based on Obama’s actions. I will bet you or anyone even money that Hilary Clinton will be your next president with 2 exclusions making it null and void. Those exclusions are Hilary runs and Chris Christie does not run. With Dirks comment about Obama it does seem strange to say my military especially if it was directed towards Americans. If I was him I would say our military to Americans and the US military to foreigners.

        • kim2ooo says:

He TRULY thinks he is a king – AND he tries by his goofs [?] to make people see him – as he sees himself. I do NOT think they are “goofs”…. It is deliberate.

“I don’t think there is any point talking about what seems to be minor mistakes.”

They are a window into a dysfunctional mind.

” Another point is under your system he is not even a political contender any more. Worry about actual actions and the actions of like minded Democrats.”

They are socialists and therefore a hivemind. Obama and the rest of them are warming up for the 2014 congressional elections already.
“Actual actions” are the kids dropping Sarin bottles in tunnels in Damaskus.
“Actual actions” that are reported in state media including the bought private media are mostly lies and hoaxes.
Even the congregation of destroyers off the Syrian shore is a hoax. Maybe the goal is just to burn some Diesel. At some point, I think it already happened, expect the Pentagon to say, uh, this operation is SO expensive we need another trillion, at which point the yearned for new debt can be created. Well for now the operation cost a fiver; but don’t tell anybody.

I did read your link and it seems as plausible as any other information I have seen except I don’t believe that Obama is using this as a distraction, just as I don’t believe Bush did. They both are or were over-reacting on their beliefs not looking for convincing evidence. In other words some evidence or information supported their already held belief and they act on it.

        • kim2ooo says:

Mr Liddle, Mr Obama has been waiting for an excuse to more soundly assist the rebels, for some time.

          He got caught “False Flagging”.

AND it was so bad an attempt kids can see it.

        • kim2ooo says:

The “false Flagging” – the “goofs” – The lies … ALL play to his Narcissism.

According to the ‘Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, there are eight conditions to Narcissistic Personality Disorder, of which half must be met before the disease can be consider to be incurred. Following are the pertinent factors in this diagnosis.

          Look at me…I’m Sandra Dee!

President Barack Obama ‘expects to be recognized as superior and special, without superior accomplishments.’ This was evidenced immediately upon his election to the Presidency by his unearned peace prize from the pulitzer committee.

Furthermore, Obama President Barack Obama obsessively desires constant attention and admiration. That’s two of the seven items.

President Obama is preoccupied with fantasies of success and great power. Three of the characteristics necessary for this disease.

President Barack Obama is arrogant. This is manifest in his attitudes and behavior. Four items.

He has expectations of being treated special, and these expectations are unrealistic. Five items, and we have more to consider.

Believes that others envy him. Six.

President Barack Obama lacks any true feelings of empathy with the feelings or desires of others. This is true specifically for any who don’t agree with his self-perceived greatness, or his goals or agenda. Seven.

Thus, President Barack Obama displays a full seven of the eight items necessary to qualify for the Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

        • kelly liddle says:

          Kim
Do you hold the same opinion of Bush?

        • kim2ooo says:

          President Obama and…Antisocial Personality Disorder?

There are six major factors to be considered in the diagnosis of the Antisocial Personality Disorder. Only three are needed to mark a person as an antisocial personality, and it should be noted that a person may have three such factors and not manifest violent behavior.

The three specific factors that President Obama suffers from are 1) callous unconcern for the feelings of others., 2) Gross irresponsibility for social norms, rules, and obligations. 3) incapacity to experience guilt, which actually ties together with a number 4) readiness to blame others or offer rationalizations for conflict.

As to number one, in the world of Barack Obama only one person matters, and that is Barack Obama. He has no feelings for others, as he does not even recognize others as human beings worthy of existence. Proof is his attitude towards persons of a conservative political viewpoint.

Number two, President Barack Obama feels no responsibilities for rules, as evidenced by his callous disregard for the Constitution of the United States. Indeed, he has attempted to pervert it at every step, issues his own Executive Orders to bypass it, and has even set up a secondary government so he will not be in a position to have to deal with it.

Number Three (and four), President Barack Obama does not feel guilt for his own actions, and cannot take responsibility for them. For instance, he is continually blaming the Republicans for his own failures to get his agenda implemented. Further, when any emergency happens, such as Benghazi, the IRS scandal, and so on, if he can’t blame somebody he falls back on the simple phrase…’I don’t know.’

          ………………………..

          Slowly, they awake.

We’ve seen George W. Bush and conservative American politicians pledge tens of billions to save the lives of Africans with HIV—think of all the love, think of where we’d be without it,” John said last Monday to participants of the International AIDS Conference, which took place in Washington D.C. from June 22-27.

Actor Matt Damon, who supported Barack Obama in 2008 and has since become a critic, due largely in part to what he deems insignificant action in the cause of poverty and disease in Africa and elsewhere.

In a news conference during the Clinton Global Initiative in New York earlier this year, the actor praised the former president for his work with PEPFAR (the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief).

“I would kiss George W. Bush on the mouth for what he did on PEPFAR,” Damon said.

PEPFAR originated in 2003 under the Bush Administration, is a “U.S. Government initiative to help save the lives of those suffering from HIV/AIDS around the world,” according to pepfar.gov.

      • suyts says:

Kelly, I don’t believe one can characterize that as a minor mistake. For a layperson, perhaps, although I think it important to make the distinction. But, Obama was elected, in part, because he was characterized as intelligent, and professorial. We find that he’s neither. Also, this goes directly to his utter disregard for the frame work of our government, which was supposedly his area of expertise. Just as it is important for electricians to know the difference between amps and volts, so too, would it be important for a constitutional law professor to know what sort of governance the people of the US are suppose to have.

As to your bet, both will run. I don’t think either will make it. Certainly not Christie. I don’t believe Christie can make it through the primaries, but, if he does, the base of the Repub party will, once again, stay home. Hillary simply has too much baggage and the last impression people have of her in public service is Benghazi. True, she is a Clinton, but, she’s not slick Willie. She doesn’t have that disarming capability he has, nor does she have his moderate temperament.

    • philjourdan says:

Sorry Kelly, but he has done this to himself. By proclaiming himself infallible, his gaffs become that much more pronounced.

And you are still wrong even trying to rephrase for him. He made 2 errors, not one.

There’s so many examples….don’t you remember Obama and his entourage went to the climate conference…and didn’t check first….made a total fool of themselves when China, Japan, etc won’t meet with them and walked out on them

Made a complete fool of themselves with Putin…over and over

    • DirkH says:

Good example. My coworkers though , even the ones who call themselves conservatives, are all Obama arsekissers; and all our media are here in Europe. It’s very bizarre. So, all this socialist-realist idolatry has totally captured the EUSSR.

I think they are very good at forgetting every blunder of him to maintain their own bias. The EU is one large cult.
