Speak Up! July 31
Scripture Selection: Psalm 60:4-5; Proverbs 31:8-9; Acts 2:14-40
Food for Thought: Acts 2:40
Have you ever experienced a time when you should have said something, but didn’t? I sure have. There are many situations when we should speak up.
For instance, we should most definitely speak up when we see the innocent, defenseless, and poor abused. Keeping silent goes entirely against the will of God. We need to ensure that justice is done on their behalf. He expects us to stand up for them, and not turn a blind eye.
Also, in times of pressure or attack, we should honor God with our words, being led by His Spirit. It’s vital that we do so, because as we honor Him, He raises up a standard, a banner, and delivers us.
Possibly the most significant of all times to speak up is when God directs us to boldly share the truth of the Gospel—even when we think that the listeners may reject the message. Speak up anyway! Better to speak up than to live with the regret of not having obeyed God.
Prayerfully ask God to nudge you as the Holy Spirit identifies the right time for you to say something throughout the day. Speak up!
