LOL!!! The Precipitous Decline In Our North Polar Ice Cap!!!

Well, instead of tracking our global sea ice increase, I thought it would be fun to check the numbers of our NH Sea Ice Extent.

Much is written and will again be written this year about how the northern hemisphere ice has been all but destroyed and that we’re head to an ice free north pole.  The new normal and all of that.

Here we see the historic ravaging of our north pole……. poor, poor poley bears.

What’s that?  You mean there’s evidence that the polar bear thrives better with less ice?  Oh, who knew?  Okay, well forget that.

It’s really hard to get too excited about that gentle slope, but still it does seem to be declining.  And before anyone asks, the reason why I put the start time at 1988 is because the daily records prior to 1988 were not daily and it squirrels up the graph.  In sine waves frequency is as important as amplitude

But, if one looks at the graph above, we can actually see a new normal!!!  Because I’m pressed for time, without further ado, I give you the demise of the arctic sea ice…….  Here are the last 10 years 22 May 2004 to 22 May 2013.

Freaking nutjobs wetting themselves all these years!  Rolling on the floor laughing

Data source for the graphs.

And yes, going back to 2003 shows little change, as well.

I’ll be back shortly.  Maybe our more articulate people can explain this to our more incredulous friends.

Bottom line…. all the ice in the Arctic could completely disappear (as it has done before in the distant past) and it would not make one crappolla difference to anything. So who the hell cares?

I happen to agree, but the whiners will look at this info and say that it influences the Rossby waves or some other happy horses**t.
Also they are fond of pooh pooing the extent and switching the subject to volume which they claim is down 80%.
You can’t win with these math-y ideologues.

In the past, it was a solar eclipse that drove primitive men into unreasonable hysterics. Today, Arctic ice. In the future? Maybe still will be Arctic ice. But maybe too much of it.

Actually, what I see is that the sea ice extent seems to be loosely mirroring the “global” temps. They have flat lined in the last 15 years, and so apparently has the extent. But you cannot convince the crew of the Northwestern that. They called last winter the worst in memory for ice in the Bering Sea.

Right, but think back to all of the pronouncements of our doom and the doom of the arctic from 2004 to the present. Hilarious stuff!
