New Study!!!  Humanity is screwed!!!

Objectives: The objectives were to estimate the GHGEs associated with the consumption of self-selected diets in France and to analyze their relation with the nutritional quality of diets.

Results: MAR was positively correlated and MER was negatively correlated with diet-related GHGEs. High-nutritional-quality diets contained more plant-based foods, notably fruit and vegetables, and fewer sweets and salted snacks than did low-quality diets. After adjustment for age, sex, and energy intake, the consumption of sweets and salted snacks was negatively correlated with diet-related GHGEs, whereas the consumption of animal products and of fruit and vegetables was positively associated with them. After adjustment for energy intake, high-nutritional-quality diets had significantly higher GHGEs (+9% and +22% for men and women, respectively) than did low-nutritional-quality diets.

Conclusion: Despite containing large amounts of plant-based foods, self-selected diets of the highest nutritional quality are currently not those with the lowest diet-related GHGEs.

    I’m told that holding your breath stops you from emitting evil planet killing CO2.

    Not eating anything also works. Perhaps people concerned about their carbon footprint might like to try these innovative ideas.

      It’s why I hurry up and drink it real quick before too much gets out in the air!!! I’m just worried about the stigma we’ll get as being so concerned about our enviro-eating. They’ll be calling us hairshirts and tree huggers and what not!!!

    Parents, are you being environmentally responsible in raising your children? Remember the two important food groups are sweets and salty snacks. Everything else must be eliminated for Gaia’s sake else the EPA will come for your children. šŸ™„

    Actually it basically says eat what you want because it is neutral. Either you will fart or the animal you eat which has eaten plants will fart but left to its own devices the plants will produce methane as they decay naturally in any wet environment. Things are getting silly. That is unless you want to go all out and have an unhealthy plant based diet with lots of sugars and vege oils and things like pasta and white bread I suppose.

      Kelly, you should reconsider your assessment of vegetable oils.

      I use Olive Oil, Rapeseed oil (contains Omega 3 fatty acids), and Sesame oil (contains Methyonine and is an optimal addition to beans, which lack it, but contain all other amino acids).
