Benghazi —- What Difference Does It Make?

Well, we knew it would be a circus and Clinton wasn’t going to give us any answers, but there’s some notable statements.

Clinton, in what may be her final set of testimony as secretary, pointedly challenged Republican Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson when he claimed the department could have “easily” determined what happened that night by interviewing staffers who were evacuated.

He was referring to the administration’s initial claim that the attack sprung out of a protest. It was later determined there was no protest on the ground in Benghazi. Diplomatic security agents said as much to the FBI during interviews on Sept. 14, despite administration claims to the contrary two days later.

“That was a piece of information that could have been easily — easily — ascertained, within hours if not days,” Johnson said.

“We were misled that there were supposedly protests and something sprang out of that. … The American people could have known that (there was no protest) within days, and they didn’t know that.”

At that point, Clinton began to raise her voice.

“With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans,” she said.

“I understand,” Johnson said.

Clinton continued to speak, raising her voice and gesturing: “Was it because of a protest or is it because of guys out for a walk one night and they decide they go kill some Americans?

“What difference, at this point, does it make?”

So, let me get this straight.  The Administration/State/Intelligence didn’t interview the evacuated staff of Benghazi?  And that’s why they didn’t know there was no protest?

Clinton, lowering her voice, then said it is the administration’s job to “figure out what happened” and prevent it from happening again.

If what Clinton is asserting is true, then they can’t possibly figure out what happened.  The administration is too stupid and incompetent to ask someone who was actually there.

Later in the testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Clinton acknowledged the administration did not have a “clear picture” of what happened in the immediate aftermath. She said perhaps officials didn’t do a good enough job explaining that they “didn’t have a clear picture.”

Well, no, you wouldn’t have a clear picture, because you’re too stupid and incompetent to ask the people who were there.

Then, in probably what is was her most callous display of her lack of ethics and her demonstrable indifference to the events said this….

“As I have said many times, I take responsibility, and nobody is more committed to getting this right,” Clinton said, later choking up when describing how she greeted the families of the victims when the caskets were returned.

But, a bit later said this…..

Clinton appeared to agree that the terrorist threat is far from diminished, but said that she never saw the requests from the Libya team for more security.

“I didn’t see those requests, they didn’t come to me,” Clinton said.

Beautiful.  She takes responsibility, but notes that it wasn’t her fault.

This is an incredible defense of the failures of this administration.  You see, it wasn’t their fault that they lied to the American people, they were simply too stupid and incompetent to get the right information.

But, no one seriously believes this.  And then she told us some more egregious lies.

“I directed our response from the State Department and stayed in close contact with officials from across our government and the Libyan government,” she said. “No delays in decision-making. No denials of support from Washington or from our military.”

We know that’s a lie. Because Ramstein Is Less Then 5 Hours Away — There Was No Time

The fact is, no personnel, from outside Libya ever set foot or flew over Benghazi during the attacks, even though air support and personnel were close enough to get to Benghazi before the people in Tripoli had arrived.

Fox points out, among other things…..

Further, there are questions about the perceived delays CIA officials — stationed in Benghazi — encountered that night and their frustration that air support was not sent from nearby Sigonella air base. In recent weeks, Fox News has learned that the rescue unit that left Tripoli was told that air support would be above when they landed in Benghazi. It wasn’t.

Hillary, it makes a difference.  The people of this nation send our loved ones into the service of this nation.  We, the people, have to believe our government is operating in the interests of the people.  Nothing in this entire sordid episode, in neither actions nor words, can lead us to believe you people were doing so.

We want to know why those people were left to die!

Looks like somebody really pissed off Hillary, and it wasn’t Bill this time!

I was wondering what sort of distractional theatrics we would see today. But I was really hoping for a faux (or not) seizure or fall. 😉

Maybe when she testifies at the House.

    • miked1947 says:

That was most probably an act on her part!

Wow! Got to see the video last night, and what a piece of crap Hillary continues to be. Her faux anger over her strawman argument was disgusting and transparent.

The issues are why our people were there on the anniversary of 9/11 in the first place, why there was not a team on standby, why security requests were denied, why they chose to use a facility that had been repeatedly attacked in the months leading up to the murders, and who thought any of this was a good idea.

You used a lot of words to basically make the same 2 points I did on another forum.

    What difference does it make?

One of integrity and competence. Integrity in accepting it is indeed your fault (she still denies it). And competence in the fact that competent people do not put convicted child molesters in charge of a Day Care. And yet you are still SOS.

Neither of those 2 concepts can be understood by you, Mrs. Clinton. You are incompetent and lack integrity.

    • cdquarles says:

That, Phil, is the nature of today’s ‘Democrat’ party. They are the party of slavery and death (some 1 million homicides each year that occur as the result of one of the Democrat party’s sacraments). From their own point of view, Sec of State Clinton is competent and have integrity, if you understand their religion. For the rest of us, particularly those who are ‘conservative’ in the US, it is apparent that traditional American values are those that define competence and integrity; and thus, ‘Democrats’ are incompetent and lack integrity.

      • philjourdan says:

I will disagree slightly. As conservatives, we hold Competence and Integrity to be important attributes of man. But conservatives do not own a monopoly on that belief.

        • cdquarles says:

Agreed. I will still maintain that the things that define those attributes will be different if you have a conservative/traditional Western/Christian outlook compared to someone who has a socialist/’humanist’/statist (a statist puts the government up on a pedestal to be worshipped, in a sense) outlook. I recommend reading ‘Vision of the Annointed’ and ‘A Conflict of Visions’, both written by Dr. Thomas Sowell (read as many of his other books as you can for his insights into general human nature, history, culture, and economics).

Didn’t Al do something similar with his climate hearing? 😆
