Good Heavens! Is this man really this ignorant or is he simply a babbling evil monkey? Spewing nonsensical hate?
One can almost forgive Morgan’s ignorance of American values and respect for our constitutional rights. He is, after all, a foreigner.
But, his latest foray into the depths of stupidity probably isn’t inexcusable. From The Blaze….
During a discussion on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” on Monday — Christmas Eve — with Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren, Morgan argued that there needs to be an “amendment to the Bible” for same-sex marriage, because like the Constitution, the Bible is “inherently flawed.”
“Both the Bible and the Constitution were well intentioned but they are basically, inherently flawed. Hence, the need to amend it,” Morgan told Warren during a conversation where Morgan emphasized the need for America to separate Church and State.
“My point to you about gay rights, for example, it’s time for an amendment to the Bible.”
“Uh, no,” replied Warren, in a conversation that remained civil between both parties. “Not a chance. What I believe is flawed is human opinion, because it constantly changes.”
First, let’s discuss the Constitution of the US. Apparently, Piers isn’t familiar with some of the aspects of our Constitution.
He’s specifically addressing the Second Amendment. I’m not sure why he doesn’t have command of the English language, but simply by it’s title one can understand that the founding fathers understood that the American people would find certain circumstances where the Constitution required changing or was insufficient in one aspect or another, hence, the ability to amend (read alter or change) our Constitution. They made specific provisions to alter the Constitution as required. The US constitution is inherently flawed, but not for the irrational reasoning Morgan thinks it is. If the American people want to change or repeal the Second Amendment, all they have to do is pass an amendment towards that end. How is it that Piers Morgan is too stupid to understand this? The American people have altered the US Constitution 27 times.
But, this brings me to the question of flaws. The US Constitution is, obviously, unique to the United States. So, Morgan’s stupidity and ignorance about the US Constitution may be, in part, forgiven.
However, the Bible is not unique to the US. I don’t know Morgan’s religious beliefs, or if he has any at all, but, most certainly, he grew up around Christians and should have at least a passing familiarity with the Bible.
Yes, the US Constitution is flawed. The reason is because it is a product of man. Man, in the views of Christians, is flawed by the Original sin. Any product of man, would therefore, be flawed because we are imperfect.
While there has been a great many theological discussions about the Bible, it’s origins, and authenticity, and interpretations of certain passages, Christians hold that the Bible is the Divinely inspired Word of God. It isn’t flawed. One doesn’t amend the Bible. The Bible is the everlasting Word of the Omnipotent God.
Apparently Morgan’s position is for Christians to tell God he was a bit wrong in some of his works and because we feel differently than what was written, we, as Christians should change what is written to fix God’s mistakes.
This, of course, is beyond any Christian faith I’m aware of. In fact, it would not be a Christian faith if one hold’s to altering the Word of God.
6The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. 8The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted. —-Psalms 12:6-8
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations. —–Psalms 100:5
Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth. —–John 17:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. —– Matthew 5:17-18
Truth doesn’t change, man’s view of truth does. Surely, even a non-believer can see that proposing to alter the Truth is contrary to the beliefs of Christians.
