NFL Sunday Picks

Well, last week I was considerable more accurate on my picks than the week prior.  We’ll see if I can’t keep that up.  Some picks this Sunday are a bit more difficult.  The first one for instance…..

Dolphins (3-3)  The Dolphins are coming off their bye week so they should be healed up a bit and ready to play.  The Jets’ passing game continues to struggle.  Look for a resurgent running game for the Fish.

  Jets (3-4)

Chargers (3-3)  This is about the time of year the Chargers start to get it together.  The Browns, quite frankly, are not a very good team.  Look for the running game for SD to be highlight material.

Browns (1-6)

Colts (3-3)   This is a hard game to pick.  But, each game rookie phenom Luck plays, is another bit of experience he can draw upon.  I look for the Colts to edge the Titans

Titans (3-4)

Patriots (4-3)  Another tough game to pick.  The Pats aren’t as good as we’re used to seeing, and Rams are better than what we’re used to seeing.  It will be interesting to see the tough D-front of the Rams react to the quick pace and running game of the Pats.  Pats take it.

Rams (3-4)

Jaguars (1-5)

Packers (4-3)  This should be win for the Pack.  Rodgers is a little banged up and Jodie Nelson is questionable, but, that’s not going to matter enough for the Jags.

Falcons (6-0)  This is a trap game for the Falcons.  In spite of the 3-3 record, the Eagles are a very strong team.  Vick should be especially motivated against the Falcons.  Still, the Falcons are firing on all pistons.  If they don’t overlook the Eagles, they win.

Eagles (3-3)

Redskins (3-4)

Steelers (3-3)  One can almost feel sorry for the Redskins.  Almost.  They always seem to be on the bubble of success, and it always slips away from them.  RG3 is one of the most exciting players in the league today.  And the Steeler D is banged up.  That’s not going to be enough.  Steelers take this one.

Seahawks (4-3)  The Seahawks are learning what it’s like to be the team people gun for.  They are one of the most improved teams of the year.  The Lions aren’t.

Lions (2-4)

Panthers (1-5)

Bears (5-1)  I would call this a trap game, too.  I mean why wouldn’t you look past the Panthers?  I understand the Panthers are going to try to focus on their running a bit more.  Won’t help.

Raiders (2-4)  What can you say about this game?  In years past, this would be the game of the year!  The Chiefs/Raiders games were always something to watch.  They are playing at KC which has made a difference in days gone by.  This game will come down to who doesn’t try to lose the game the most.  I think the Raiders have a very slight edge in that dept.

Chiefs (1-5)

Giants (5-2)

Cowboys (3-3)  Okay, yes, I admit it.  I’m biased for the ‘boys!  Any sensible person would pick the Giants.  But……  this is a must win for Dallas.  If they win, they’re in the hunt.  Lose, and the season is all but over.  Look for them to come up big.

  Saints (2-4)

Broncos (3-3)  The Saints are looking better recently, so this isn’t a cake walk.  But, the Broncs seem to be improving each week as well with Manning at the helm.  Mile high will be too much for the Saints

49ers (5-2)  This has all the makings of a great game.  This is one vs two for the division rivals.  After a great start, the Cards have dropped 3 in a row….. after Monday, it will be 4.

Cardinals (4-3)

Buccaneers (3-4)  Thursday the Bucc shellacked the Vikings.  Who knew?

Vikings (5-3)

Well, those are my picks for the week.  Think I’m wrong?  Tell me why.

  1. Philly and Detroit both need to win. They better play like it or they are in playoff trouble. Detroit may already be out of the playoffs.

I don’t think Dallas can beat NY. But I know what it’s like to pull for your team in a must win. Maybe they will pull it off. But NY has something to prove too. They are in a real race now that Washington is better.

  2. Wash v Pitt is on local tv here. It’s one of the games I wanted to see. I am very interested to see for myself where both teams are, instead of hearing someone on tv tell me.

  3. Them Patriots really like to run up the score.

  4. Jim Masterson says:

The Seahawks didn’t come to play today. You missed that one.

    Jim

  5. SD loses 7-6 to Cleveland? WT…..!

    Bye Norv, sorry, but bye.

  6. Troy Aikman announcing the Dallas game? Come on FOX!!

  7. That deep pass to Randle was completed because of the value of Cruz. The safety stuck like fly paper to Cruz and left Randle open to the middle of the field on the turn in.

  8. That was a crown of the helmet to the jaw of Romo!

I really do think some penalties should be 25 yds, that being one of them—and it should be called.

  9. It’s basic—the QB watches where the safety goes. It’s unbelievable that the safety didn’t even try to fool Romo. He simply backed into his zone.

    AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

  11. Umm, I know you want to say something about Dez B

  12. Ouch, JPP

    Orton, paging……….

  13. earth to Dallas coaching staff, earth to Dallas coaching staff: quit trying to long one up the sidelines.

  14. suyts says:

A great series for Dallas!!! They got off the field w/o turning it over!!!

  15. Wow, looks like some arguing on the sidelines.

    • suyts says:

Yep. If you look at the recent history of Dallas, all one has to do is realize their success begins and ends with Witten. I don’t know why they try so hard against this.

  16. It could be worse, you could be a Jets fan.

  17. Youd think they would cover Bryant. The things you see.

  18. suyts says:

Not good for my blood pressure, but, I’ll take it!

  19. Ummmm, Tony, how about throwing the ball so it could be caught in the end zone. Jus sayin.

  20. Wow, Oregon fell to 4th in the BCS. And like I thought, K St is #2

    http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings

Ala vs LSU has big meaning. K St could be #1 next week. But #2 is just fine too, isn’t it?

  21. PhilJourdan says:

Not as good as last week, but still not bad. You got to stop leading with your heart about Dallas however. 😉

    • suyts says:

Ahh, a weakness. But, did you watch the game? They could have easily won it. Execution and mental mistakes.

      • philjourdan says:

I get the Red Zone, so when the Raiders are not on the regular games (usually), I watch that, so yea, they showed that game more than the (as you indicated, stinker) KC-Raiders game. As my dislike of the Cowboys is not news, I was not happy to see that last minute touchdown, so the reversal was welcome.

But the Cowboys did win the game – in every category except one. Final score. Your analysis on the game (in all honesty) would have been spot on – if Romo had not been color blind when passing.

        • suyts says:

True, but, it was a team effort. If Bryant had run proper routes, had he not fumbled, had Jones not fumbled, had …… etc.

I do, on occasion, pick against the ‘boys. It’s hard to do given their talent. As one of the broadcasters pointed out, top ten in offense and defense. Hope springs eternal. 😉

      • philjourdan says:

BTW: I never pick against the Raiders – that is why I do not win football pools. 😉

  22. Jim Masterson says:

MNF isn’t much of a game, unless you’re a 49ers fan. I think you called this one correctly

    Jim

  23. Will anyone be watching Ala vs LSU, or Ore vs USC?
