The Next President Of The U.S.

To the majority of Americans who now believe that the future will not be better than the past, I can guarantee you this: if Barack Obama is re-elected, you will be right.

I am running for president to help create a better future. A future where everyone who wants a job can find one. Where no senior fears for the security of their retirement. An America where every parent knows that their child will get an education that leads them to a good job and a bright horizon.

And unlike the president, I have a plan to create 12 million new jobs. It has 5 steps.

First, by 2020, North America will be energy independent by taking full advantage of our oil and coal and gas and nuclear and renewables.

Second, we will give our fellow citizens the skills they need for the jobs of today and the careers of tomorrow. When it comes to the school your child will attend, every parent should have a choice, and every child should have a chance.

Third, we will make trade work for America by forging new trade agreements. And when nations cheat in trade, there will be unmistakable consequences.

Fourth, to assure every entrepreneur and every job creator that their investments in America will not vanish as have those in Greece, we will cut the deficit and put America on track to a balanced budget.

And fifth, we will champion SMALL businesses, America’s engine of job growth. That means reducing taxes on business, not raising them. It means simplifying and modernizing the regulations that hurt small business the most. And it means that we must rein in the skyrocketing cost of healthcare by repealing and replacing Obamacare.

=========================================================

At some point, Mitt will say these words or something very similar.  I’ve other obligations tonight.  Can someone give a little play-by-play while I’m gone?

  1. I just saw the Clint Eastwood speech. It made me forget about all the crap in life and feel good about America again.

If only life was so simple. What is cheating and how and who will determine that? Is the US cheating with farm subsidies for example. Is GM cheating by being propped up by the government. What is dumping? If there is an oversupply of any good it will often be sold at a loss and this is a normal part of business. The US is still the most powerful nation economically and can and does push it’s weight around. The Australia US FTA favours the US but it is good for Australia and better than not having it even if it is not entirely fair. So I hope the US does not go down the path of any more protectionism.

That’s what WTO arbitration is supposed to be for. But, you never joined the WTO.

Oh sorry, Kelly, I forget you’re an Australian. The emark is of course directed to the US readers.

        • philjourdan says:

Before Obama, there was a distrust of the WTO. Since Obama, there is no need since he does not appear to want to negotiate any trade treaties.

    • philjourdan says:

IN the real world, Cheating is an objective verb. In politics, it is subjective. The easiest way to determine cheating is to check to see if the treaty was violated. When that does not work, then you call in the lawyers.

As for your specific questions, the answers are all yes. But one man’s cheating is another man’s job protection boondoggle.

Video: Young Marxist cites Marihuana slum Christiania in Copenhagen and Somalia as examples for Marxist success stories. (I thought the Danish hippies have to pay for their dope! But what do I know.)

Developing American energy supplies is about the best you may get out of Romney. The rest of it regarding, debt/deficit, getting out of the way for small business is total nonsense and won’t happen. I have yet to see Republicans repeal anything; we are still waiting for the department of education to be abolished.

sth, we’ll just have to see. Unlike the Dems, there will be millions out there to make sure Romney/Ryan match their political rhetoric to their performance.
