Between Parents And Teachers, Do Our Children Have A Chance?

Any frequent reader of this blogs would see that I’m highly critical of our education system.  The educators, bureaucrats, and politicians make a high quality education for our children nearly impossible.  But, this isn’t to say that other people aren’t equally responsible, if not more.  The ultimate responsibility for a child’s education is the parents.  It seems like on a daily basis we see parents more concerned with senseless issues other than educating their children.  Today is no exception……

A Tucson mom has accused her daughter’s teacher of bullying after the teacher presented the girl with a “catastrophe award,” MyFoxPhoenix reports.

8-year-old Cassandra Garcia was reportedly given the “catastrophe award” for being the “one student with the most excuses for not having their homework done” in front of her entire third grade class at Desert Springs Academy.

All the children were laughing at her,” the girl’s mother told MyFoxPhoenix.

The teacher, who was only identified as Ms. Plowman, reportedly said she saw the award as a joke. Cassandra’s mother says she sees it as bullying.

MyFoxPhoenix reports it is unclear if the school plans on punishing the teacher.

Here’s an idea …… Mom, why don’t you do your damned job and make sure your child does her homework?  Then you don’t have to worry about your child being embarrassed about not doing her homework.  BTW, public ridicule and peer pressure are very effective motivational tools.  Teachers of old used to use “dunce caps” in a similar fashion.  At the very least, this shows that the teacher actually cares or at least keeps track of who does and who doesn’t do their homework.  Cassandra’s mom, can you say the same?  Even about your own child?

If the parents don’t care, the child is lost.

Escape From New York? High-Taxing Empire State Loses 3.4 Million Residents in 10 Years

    By Elizabeth Harrington
    May 29, 2012

    – New York State accounted for the biggest migration exodus of any state in the nation between 2000 and 2010, with 3.4 million residents leaving over that period, according to the Tax Foundation.

Over that decade the state gained 2.1 million, so net migration amounted to 1.3 million, representing a loss of $45.6 billion in income.

Where are they escaping to? The Tax Foundation found that more than 600,000 New York residents moved to Florida over the decade – opting perhaps for the Sunshine State’s more lenient tax system – taking nearly $20 billion in adjusted growth income with them.

Over that same time period, 208,794 Pennsylvanians moved to Florida, taking $8 billion in income.

Cali has the same problem. What concerns me about this is the dimwits never really seem to understand why they’re leaving their states. So, now both left coasts are infecting the rest of the U.S. with their brain-dead idiocy.

Mom is probably as stupid as a stump as well.

  3. So, what’ they’re getting at here is that being correct or actually teaching someone is bullying. Thank goodness we’re free from those ugly constraints of “words” with “definitions”.
