Wow! Retirement In My Future?

Lol, well, I’ve still got a ways to go before I can cash in on all of this fame and fortune this blog brings me.  Open-mouthed  I was going to give the nice readers and commenters a thanks.  Actually, I was going to do this last night.  I’ll explain.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote this post, “I Can’t Stand Success!”.  It’s basically lamenting the fact that this blog had been gaining small but sure momentum and I was afraid I was going to lose said momentum because of a couple of road trips I had to take.  As everyone can see, we’re nowhere near some of the more popular blogs.  This is the momentum I posted about in mid April….

Here we are now.

As you can see, the growth is still coming.  Again, exceptional for this small blog, but compared to Steve’s or even the much busier Anthony’s, this is nothing.  Yesterday, a couple of things happened which I thought a bit odd, but gave Suyts’ space a record breaking day!  The reason for the record was two fold.  Oddly enough the largest factor was because of a bit of rancorous debate on a nearly 3 week old post of mine, Anti-Bullying Bigot Bullies Christian Children.  While the conversation wasn’t all that civil, it did turn to a rather emotive subject or two.   Our friend, PhD, probably had more to do with the record than anything.  But, there was something else stirring as well.  Another post which I had written a week ago caught the attention of some meeting attendees which were essentially attacked by the Huffington Post and the Guardian in their regular delusional manner….. BIG OIL CONSPIRACY EXPOSED!!!!  It turns out, at least one of the attendees writes.  And, she’s picked up by many.  Marita Noon linked my post to her article and around the world it went! Here are the places…….

I’ve checked out most of those sites, it would be nice if the regulars here went there and said “hey” in a show of support for them.

So, this morning, I’m wondering what on earth could I possibly do to sustain that sort of momentum?  The answer clearly was nothing.  Our friend PhD was up and at them again, bright and early this morning.  Throw in a shout out from Anthony, and I was drinking water from a fire hose.  We didn’t just break yesterday’s record, we’ve already entirely surpassed it and may perhaps double it!

Which leads me to my apology.  I take a bit of pride in this blog because it is interactive.  We’ve all been to blogs that put out some information and when you comment or ask a question there is no response.  I hate that.  So, I make every effort to answer questions, ask questions myself and exchange thoughts and ideas, not ignore the participants.  Today, I’ve discovered my limitations, at least during the day.  I simply can not.  I wish I could and perhaps one day after retirement I can.

Oddly, like yesterday, the spigot turned off right at the time I when I have more available time.

To the newcomers to this blog, I’d like to welcome you.  It has been my experience that after a sudden spike of interest in one particular post or another that most don’t come back, but some do.  So, I’ll explain a couple of things.  First of all, opinions are welcome.  This isn’t an echo chamber, though sometimes it appears so.  This is because of the adage “birds of a feather flock together“.   That’s simply the way it is, and I’m glad it is so.  Secondly, while I try to remain objective in most things, I make no pretenses that I’m unbiased.  I am biased and opinionated on just about everything.  Lastly, while I cover many aspects of the climate discussion, this isn’t exclusively a science blog.  The topics covered here are a bit of everything.  Climate gets included because it is such a significant factor in what is occurring in the world.  Again, welcome.

congratulations!….your blog is doing better than you thought

someone sent pHd over because they considered it a threat

Congratulations. You are hitting the tender spot at just the right time – election.

    • suyts says:

Heh, I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge your role in this number bump. You stoked PhD the most on the day prior!

But, yes, the elections was one of my reasons for starting this blog.

Your blog is one of my top 5 that I like to check out. Even at that, I do not catch all your entries. Thanks for the roundabout link to the Dendro one (I went to WUWT, and then followed it back).

      • suyts says:

Thanks! That’s really great to hear!

    Hi James,

Haven’t visited in a long time…mostly been laying low lately. Actually decided to go completely without CAGW blog checking a few months ago. Then I checked a week later and I’d stopped looking at stuff something like 1 day before Fakegate erupted, LOL. Still read stuff now and then, but it’s such a time consumer and my family deserves more time from me than they get. I glanced over at the super busy thread with Ph.D. and, wow, his arguments are a joke. Makes me ashamed to have a science background. Don’t know if I’ll comment on that thread or not.

Anyways, congrats on your recent traffic. I don’t follow politics hardly at all (no cable/satellite/broadcast, nor do I get the paper), so it’s kind of depressing to see how poor the world is doing when I catch it here.

I miss the “Global Warming Hoax Weekly Round-Up” from the Daily Bayonet.

    • suyts says:

Scott! It’s great to hear from you! Your comments on any thread are always welcomed, but I wouldn’t waste your time on that one.

It is time consuming. And it is depressing. But, there is always hope things will get better. In fact, I assume that they will, we just have to relearn some lessons about totalitarian Marxists.
