And Now The Attention Moves To Nat Gas

Surprise!!  Who knew?  In the first part of February, I wrote that the Nat Gas was a bit antsy about the wild animals they kept and fed, the Sierra Club.  Well, the chickens are coming home to roost.  We know of $26 million given to the Sierra Club from one of the leading companies in the industry, but I believe it would be more accurate to add a zero at the end to get a feel for the Nat Gas industry wide support of the Sierra Club’s war on cheap energy.  Now that the EPA has effectively killed the coal industry, the misanthropists’ eyes have turned to their next target.

The Sierra Club is intensifying its natural-gas reform campaign and renaming it “Beyond Gas,” a spin-off of its decade-old “Beyond Coal” campaign seeking the phaseout of coal-fired power plants.

“As we push to retire coal plants, we’re going to work to make sure we’re not simultaneously switching to natural-gas infrastructure,” Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune told National Journal in an interview on Wednesday. “And we’re going to be preventing new gas plants from being built wherever we can.”

The name for the campaign was actually decided about two weeks ago but hasn’t yet appeared prominently on the group’s website, Brune said. “Beyond Gas” represents a significant expansion of the group’s ongoing efforts against increased natural-gas production and will be integrated with campaigns against the other major fossil fuels, oil and coal.

It won’t be integrated.  It will be highlighted.  Here is how effective the anti-humanists were in shutting down coal……

By galvanizing and harnessing local opposition to coal, the Sierra Club takes credit for retiring 106 coal plants and preventing 150 from being built. “We follow business-development plans,” Brune said.

Of course, the reasons that a coal plant is retired or not built are debatable. “What causes these plants to be approved or rejected—everybody is speculating at first,” Brune said. “Sometimes it was economics that prevailed and that’s what helped defeat the plant.”

Yes, sometimes it was economics.  It was the economic condition created by a marriage of convenience between the Sierra Club and the Natural Gas industry.  Now the lunatics have turned their ugly head towards natural gas and we’ve one less ally to help fight the fight.  I am in awe of Natural Gas’s fantastic stupidity and their entire disregard for the economic condition of the average citizen.  It is a small wonder why people are conflicted about what is right.  No worries, gas, we’ve got your back……. just quit helping.  Imbeciles.

Natural Gas is the Gingerbread man, and the Sierra Club is the Fox. Some people never learn. You cannot make a deal with fanatics.

Exactly. These people strengthened and fed this animal which they had to know would turn on them.

So, are they part of it or are they just stupid?

Evil. They played a game and gambled with your electricity. In all likelihood, the gamble will pay off. Nat gas industry will have succeeded in killing coal, and the void will be filled by nat gas.

In spite of the econuts protests and whatnot, the populace will not tolerate sitting in the dark waiting for the wind to blow. And, of course, energy will become more expensive because of the elimination of one of the U.S.’ most abundant energy source.

Having the heat and cooking market all but sown up wasn’t enough for the gas industry because of all of the new found wells we struck.

Now, if the loons succeed in getting fracking banned, that’s a whole new ball game.

Sometimes I really wonder if “they had to know”. Common sense tells us that, but that seems to be lacking from many who do consume oxygen on this planet.

GAO: Recoverable Oil in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming ‘About Equal to Entire World’s Proven Oil Reserves’

The Green River Formation, a largely vacant area of mostly federal land that covers the territory where Colorado, Utah and Wyoming come together, contains about as much recoverable oil as all the rest the world’s proven reserves combined, an auditor from the Government Accountability Office told Congress on Thursday.

“The Green River Formation–an assemblage of over 1,000 feet of sedimentary rocks that lie beneath parts of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming–contains the world’s largest deposits of oil shale,”Anu K. Mittal, the GAO’s director of natural resources and environment said in written testimony submitted to the House Science Subcommittee on Energy and Environment.

“USGS estimates that the Green River Formation contains about 3 trillion barrels of oil, and about half of this may be recoverable, depending on available technology and economic conditions,” Mittal testified.
