These songs are emblematic of the US in the early 70s. Today, music like this would be played on country stations. In fact, I’ve heard pale imitations of these songs on supposed country stations. But, it surely was Americana back then ….
Great song!
I watched these guys… and yeh, they were old, but, I saw them back in the early 2000s ,,,
They sang it pretty much like the video. Well, done.
‘Chevy Van’ was constant reminder of my newly raging hormones…over and over again…
All I had was a VW Bug.
I was too young to even own a van. But boy that song made me wish I did. 🙂
Hm, what about Janis Joplin – Summertime?
Child, your living’s easy.

Certainly is essential for this genre! Thanks!
I remember that one 🙂 and it has been remixed/remade a few times since then.
My Brother has a lot of these in his collections. It’s hard not to hear some of them on the weekends etc.
Boo! Never could stand that song.
Bruppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp 🙂
I guess fingernails on a blackboard sounds good to you? 😉
I remember this one too. My most favorite 3 Dog Night song (you do know what a three dog night means, don’t you? :P)
I’m a country girl…. It’s been cold enough for 4 dogs on the bed. 🙂
Good. I though you youngun’s wouldn’t know what cold and snow is any more :P.
😆
OOOOOOOOOOOoo Very nicely done!
Reblogged this on Climate Ponderings.
The eagles were really soft country early on… sort of…
That pic is…………… 🙂
The Eagles, like so many others, had to find the genre they fit in. David Allen Coe sings about this.
I remember Willie having a crew-cut. Waylon tried to be clean-cut looking C&W singer, and DAC tried to be everyone he wasn’t.
I think music is much better off when they let the singers define themselves, as the Eagles, Willie, Waylon, and DAC did.
I loved the Eagles, back in the day.
Lyin Eyes is one of the top 10 songs of all time.
