I’ve been trying to think of a way to articulate this but, I just haven’t found a good way to be clear and concise, so hopefully, a commenter or two will be able to form this thought into something people can pick up on. It’s probably because I’m tired. I think I was a bit overly ambitious in my desired renovations prior to my move and now I’m burning at both ends, but, that’s for another post.
We’ve recently heard a bunch of chatter from the nutters about a carbon tax in the US. The other day, I pointed out that even if one believed the nonsense about CO2, the US doesn’t need a tax to limit CO2 emissions. Our CO2 emissions will decline to 1994 levels without one.
Similarly, the nutters in the EU are crying about the price of the carbon permits being on the floor ( as low as €4.09 yesterday).
To paraphrase the nutters……’ Oh, this is horrible!!! We’re all going to die!!! The evil companies aren’t paying enough to limit their carbon emissions!!!! We’re all hotting up!! We’re having extreme moreless snow!!!! We’re being devastated by warmcold!!! Droughtflood is killing us!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!! OMG!!!! We have to get our companies to decrease their carbon emissions!!!!’
Well, this is another case of either lying or stupidity. The fact is, both the US and Europe has significantly decreased their CO2 emissions. As noted earlier, the US is expected to lower emissions to levels the same as almost 20 years ago. The graph I’m about to show doesn’t reflect that decrease, but it does reflect what the US has actually been doing with projects to 2015, as it does Europe.

You see, most of us thought that the purpose of the CO2 taxes and schemes was to limit our CO2 emissions. Now, myself, and millions of others see this a senseless and wrongheaded, but, that was the expressed purpose of Europe’s scheme and the US’ proposed carbon tax. But, as we can see, our CO2 emissions have already dropped! And they’re not expected to increase any time soon.
So, this begs the question, what is the real purpose of the proposed US carbon tax? And, should the carbonphobes in Europe be claiming victory? Didn’t the trading scheme accomplish it’s purpose? What do they care about the price of the carbon permits as long as the CO2 emissions are lowered? That was the purpose, right?
Of course it wasn’t, and it isn’t. It’s about the hatred of the western civilization and wealth confiscation. The graph above proves this to be the case.
The people advocating an increase in the cost of CO2 emissions, (which already is a cost) are simply Malthusian Marxists hell bent on increasing human misery.
Reblogged this on Climate Ponderings and commented:
“So, this begs the question, what is the real purpose of the proposed US carbon tax? “
We must limit our already self limiting CO2 emissions!!!
