Retail sales growth slows as higher taxes kick in
The story is instructive. Not only does it note the increase in taxes, but it notes the cost of gasoline. Because of our idiotic energy policies, we’re stuck in a catch 22. Because oil is a global commodity, the oil producers can decide to shorten supply to keep the price up. Demand can increase because of anticipated economic growth. Then any gains in the economy are offset by the increased cost of fuel. Add a little tax increase in the mix and voilà! We have a stagnant economy incapable of lifting itself out of the morass! No worries. Once they figure out the global economy isn’t going anywhere, the price will drop again.
3 years, 8 months ago the recession ended. We have had a stagnant economy since then, until now. Now we are in the double dip.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WJZ)—A shooting in a police academy class gravely injures an officer and has led to a halt to all training.
Mike Schuh reports a number of training academy members have been suspended pending the investigation.
At the family’s request, the injured trainee has not been named.
The 40-year-old just joined the University of Maryland police force this summer. He was in training with city police. His training class was using an area with abandoned buildings when his instructor accidentally shot him in the head.
