I don’t know why they bother with these hearings. THEY SIMPLY WILL NOT BE TRUTHFUL!!
The Senate is grilling Panetta and another serial liar Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey.
Their BULLSHIT is exuding from their orifices.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., disputed testimony that the difficulty in dispatching assets to the scene was “a problem of distance and time.” He suggested the “light footprint” in the region and a failure to respond to threats left the military ill-prepared.
“For you to testify that our posture would not allow a rapid response — our posture was not there because we didn’t take into account the threats to that consulate, and that’s why four Americans died,” he said. “We could have placed forces there. We could have had aircraft and other capacity a short distance away.”
He continued: “No forces arrived there until well after these murders took place.”
As well documented, here, no personnel were ever dispatched to Benghazi from anywhere other than a security detail from Tripoli. In spite of the fact we had military assets equidistant from Benghazi. The detail from Tripoli was delayed for hours because they had to charter a plane from Tripoi. We had many more military assets closer than Tripoli in relation to the time it took to get the security detail to Benghazi, which arrived after the murders. (refer to the link above)
Shortly afterward, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., pressed Panetta again on why no forces were deployed until after the attack was over. Dempsey and Panetta said they talked to President Obama one time that night, but Graham questioned why there weren’t subsequent follow-up conversations.
“It lasted almost eight hours … did the president show any curiosity?” Graham asked.
Panetta said there was “no question” Obama “was concerned about American lives.”
“With all due respect,” Graham responded, “I don’t believe that’s a credible statement if he never called and asked you, ‘are we helping these people?’”
He didn’t have to call and ask because someone told them not to.
Here’s a question. What would have happened if the attack lasted longer? NO ONE WAS COMING!!!!
Sure, there are time constraints. It takes a while to gas up a plane and get the boys on board. But, the order for that to occur should have been ordered the moment we heard there was trouble at Benghazi. And, no one is going to get me to believe we couldn’t have sent ground support aircraft in the air on location after 8 hours. I know better than that. I’m not talking slow C-130s. (which was only 5 hours away from Ramstein, we had many more assets much closer) . Again, no one was coming. If the attack was maintained and reinforced, we would have had no survivors.
Panetta, in his testimony, detailed the military response on the day and night of the attack.
As Fox News has previously reported, he said an unarmed, unmanned drone was positioned overhead the Benghazi compound.
But he said armed aircraft like AC-130 gunships would have taken too long to get there — “at least nine to 12 hours if not more to deploy.”
“This was, pure and simple … a problem of distance and time,” he said.
But, they never got the order to deploy. How did Leon know the attack would only last 8 hours and not 9? The C-130s weren’t in route, they weren’t one hour away or 4 hours away, they weren’t coming!!
There have been questions about the perceived delays CIA officials — stationed in Benghazi — encountered that night and their frustration that air support was not sent from nearby Sigonella air base. In recent weeks, Fox News has learned that the rescue unit that left Tripoli was told that air support would be above when they landed in Benghazi, but it wasn’t.
And it wasn’t going to be. No one was coming. So, the only question is…..

Amazing. This would be a great sitcom running gag. Maybe the world turns into a giant sitcom; sitcom economics, sitcom politicians.

One of the few times I have agreed with McCain recently. We should have had assets available JIC something went awry, that is standard military planning. There would have been no need to gas up or charter a jet. The compound had been repeatedly attacked, the security detail warned of trouble even before the shooting started, and it was September 11th for God’s sake.
This was criminally stupid, and why Barry and Hillary are saying they just had no idea what was going on.
I find it difficult to believe they were that stupid.

It was intentional. No one can be that unfathomably stupid, much less a collective of such. All of them are claiming stupidity. They can’t all be that stupid.
It was intentional AND stupid. Obviously Stevens was on a covert mission that Obama Inc did not want We The People to know about. That is why he was traveling in an unarmored car in the most dangerous city in Libya on September 11th. If they had put assets on alert, it would have brought unwanted attention to this dirty business.
The lies are piling up. It is clear that Obama knew, and approved of the non-action. They are having difficulty making their lies plausible.

These meetings / investigations OF TOP OFFICIALS should have been called by Congress no later than Sept 15th – AND done under oath.
No doubt…. here it is in February …… it’s sad and sick.
They were thinking about the election. They didn’t want to appear to be ‘political’ so they punted them into 2013. Now had this have happened in, say September 1972, does anyone here think that the Congress of the time would not have called for an investigation and held hearings?

This is the Watergate of this era. Where is today’s Deep Throat? Where is today’s Woodward and Bernstein? Where is today’s Major Television Media? We know, they are deep in their hidey holes because their guy has ‘screwed the pooch’ and they do not want the world to know it. Indeed, Nixon would have loved to have had this kind of Congressional and Media response.
“Deep Throat” is out there, but “Woodward & Bernstein” do not want the story.

So, exactly what assurances for their safety, where given to the American personnel before they perished at the hands of an organized mob of extremists? And what contingency plans were they told were in place?
IMO what they were told and what was is place were two entirely different things.
“I gave three very clear directives. Number one, make sure we are securing our personnel and that we are doing whatever we need to. Number two, we are going to investigate exactly what happened and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Number three, find out who did this so we can bring them to justice. “ -Obama [ President Obama’s own claim to have issued “three direectives” as soon as he learned “what was going on” in Benghazi. As he told a Denver reporter in October: ].
But if those directives were indeed given–and proof has never been produced–they were given long after the attack, not while the attack was going on, during which time the president did nothing.
