Free from Fear February 3
Scripture Selection: Psalm 34:4; Proverbs 3:21-26; Romans 8:15
Food for Thought: Rom. 8:15
While I stepped out of the classroom to speak with someone the other day, my students dealt among themselves with a “Bring It On” question, a question reserved for Fridays regarding any topic having to do with the Word and their walk with Christ. By the time I returned, they had already settled on the answer, which amazed me.
The question was, “Why is it bad to watch horror movies?” When I asked what their answer was, they readily responded, “Because fear pleases and activates Satan the way faith pleases and activates God!” What a deep revelation for teens to have. In addition, they all agreed that those movies have an effect on them long after they’ve seen them.
Why would anyone want to deliberately expose themselves to such things that glorify evil when Christ has freed us from fear at so great a price so that we could become the sons of God. Because of His ultimate sacrifice, we can also be free from “real-life” fears. We can face ANYTHING confidently as we walk in Him and His Word.

WHOA! I never thought of it like that.
I like mysteries, such as Sherlock Holmes. I got the Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett collections for Christmas.

Save your soul!. Give them to me.

I like a good mystery, too. I think the best way to go is to avoid books or movies in which their sole intent is to exalt evil and produce terror.
Reblogged this on Climate Ponderings.
Fear is also addicting…..just ask any news media
No doubt. I do think that much of the unwarranted fear mongering is done simply because many are faithless.
well…..when you have nothing else to fall back on
Exactly. If they don’t really believe in anything and have no Rock, no foundation, then the winds of the world will blow them to and fro. And, they end up afraid of every breeze or gust.
