Elected Officials Men Of The Year Nominees!

imageSometimes I get a bit disheartened by all the crappy news we see on a daily basis.  We see men and women of no honor, no sense of compunction about the oaths that they take.  And a zealous desire to control every aspect of other people’s lives.

So, when I see some people moving contrary to the dismal spiral others embrace, I think it’s worth noting.

Jim sent us this…….

You can read the story here.  But, the long and short of it is that a licensed concealed carry fellow showed up to a city council meeting which was discussing various ways to grab people’s guns.  One of the gun grabbing council members, Rick Almberg, asked if the carrying citizen was armed at the time.  The citizen, Lucas Yonkman, didn’t have to answer the stupid question, but he did in the affirmative.  Yonkman is a disabled Army vet, struck by an IED. The attack left Yonkman with injuries to his neck and back.

After the response to the affirmative, the gun grabber tried to pass an illegal ordinance to strip anyone of their weapons at the council meeting.  It was eventually defeated by a vote of 4-2.  Immediately after the vote, gun grabber Rick Almberg apparently shat himself and left the meeting.  At that point, Oak Harbor Mayor Scott Dudley apologized to Yonkman for Almberg’s behavior and made it a point to note the oath of office council members take to uphold the US Constitution, state constitution and the laws.  Of course, vows, oaths and promises mean nothing to totalitarian nutjobs.  They have no sense of morality.

In another story about an elected official, and probably my vote for Elected Official Man of the Year, is Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. He’s got a short radio ad out……

The story is here.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. set off alarm bells Friday with a radio spot some view as a call for citizens to arm themselves.

In the radio ad, Clarke tells residents personal safety isn’t a spectator sport anymore, and that “I need you in the game.”

“With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option,” Clarke intones.

“You could beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back.”

Clarke urges listeners to take a firearm safety course and handle a firearm “so you can defend yourself until we get there.”

“You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?”

I find that this is the point of an armed populous.  You can fight back.  You may not survive the struggle, but, at least you have the option, to make the choice.  I choose not to spend my life on my knees.

The gun grabbers are crying about this calling the ad a call for “vigilantism“, comparing Clarke to Dirty Harry, as if it would be a bad thing.   Clarke gets my vote.

Thanks again to Jim Masterson.

For non-elected man of the year, I nominate Phelim McAleer…

Watched the doc over the weekend and it is fantastic! Completely financed by small donations from private citizens – brilliant!

One of my favorite scenes is outside the main antagonist’s home, who claims contaminated water, even though the EPA has ruled out any issues with his well water. Sitting in his driveway is a work truck he obviously brings home each day, and on the side is “Palmeri”. It appeared to be a heating oil delivery truck and a quick search of Google shows “PALMERI & SON FUEL OIL INC” in a nearby town. High NG prices are all that makes heating oil competitive. Surprisingly the doc never mentioned this.

Be sure to spread info on this documentary widely.

It is my estimation that these videos are representative of most communities with the possible exception of a few that are heavily leftist, predominantly Democrat. I’ve been reading about numerous police departments that have gone on record as being unwilling to execute any Federal mandates to grab guns as well as states passing recent legislation to protect gun owners’s rights to own and carry.

Anyway, these videos just warmed my heart. Thanks for posting them.

In today’s climate, an honest lawman is hard to find. Especially in a city as radically liberal as Milwaukee.

How about the Judge who quoted Mr. Franklin in the TSA case?

Thanks for the H/T. I remember my first post here (http://suyts.wordpress.com/2012/05/27/id-logical-fallacies-divisiveness-and-poetic-license/#comment-11513), and you’ve been very hospitable since.

I enjoy your site and hope for your continued success in the future. 8-)
