LMAO! France Eating Their Own!!!

From the London Evening Standard

Nicolas Sarkozy is preparing to move to London to set up a billion-pound-plus investment fund, it was claimed today.

If the move goes ahead, the former French president could escape a planned top tax rate of 75 per cent in his home country. …..

Details of the planned move were uncovered in a raid by fraud police on the Sarkozys’ Paris home last June. Mr Sarkozy lost his immunity from prosecution after being defeated by Socialist rival François Hollande in the May presidential election.

Well, it’s tabloid stuff, but nothing would surprise me from France.  And, why wouldn’t he move?  France rejected him.

..!. or .!.. For France! maybe even ..!. and .!..

  3. kelly liddle says:

If there is any truth to the first part of the story then if he is corrupt would he be wanted in the UK? It would not send a very good message.

    • DirkH says:

So a free country should send back immigrants from socialist countries when the socialist government investigates them?
Sounds like FDR sending back the jewish refugees on the St. Louis to Germany.

      Interesting ethics there.

    • kelly liddle says:

      Dirk
Huh! Are you suggesting that France is now a dictatorship?

      • DirkH says:

You mean Hitler wasn’t a democratically elected leader?

      • kelly liddle says:

From my understanding Hitler was democratically elected. I don’t think you can compare the current French government to Hitler though.

        • kelly liddle says:

Well they are not going around trying to take over Europe or killing millions. Otherwise it is the greatest cover up in all history.

        • philjourdan says:

I am not 5’10″, do not have brown hair, and brown eyes. So since that is the average of a man, I cannot be a man?

That is your logic. The comparison was not to the German military adventures. Which in reality was but one aspect of Germany at the time. So since one thing does not match, you now state that no comparisons can be made?

The comparison was to how a party attained control over a state. Not how many countries it conquered.

        • kelly liddle says:

Phil then it is reasonable to state what the simularities are. If you do not the immediate image is that of a violent dictator. I am sure if you are talking about the role and extent of government some comparisons can be made. I don’t know much at all about Nazi Germany other than the well known stuff.

        • philjourdan says:

Kelly, those who dismiss history because they do not like it, are doomed to make the same mistakes that were made. Germany was many things back then. And we SHOULD study it and learn from it so that the same mistakes are not repeated. Your dismissal of a valid comparison means the next Hitler (and no one is saying he is alive now) will use the same methods to accomplish the same ends.

Dirk’s comparison was showing that a claim of “democracy” is not a safeguard against evil gaining power. Hence it was valid. He never said the French were nazis, or they were like Hitler. He merely rebutted your point that Hitler was not born a dictator, and was freely elected at first. It is a valid comparison taken in the context of the thread. Indeed, 1933 Germany SHOULD be used as a comparison for anyone lulled into a sense of complacency thinking that just because elections are held, we are immune from evil despots gaining power.

“Well they are not going around trying to take over Europe or killing millions. Otherwise it is the greatest cover up in all history.”

          You have just compared them.
You said they can’t be compared.
Thus you have done the impossible.

        • philjourdan says:

Well, Many say that Aussies do the impossible every day! ;-)

        • kelly liddle says:

          Dirk
You got me I did compare. LOL

In relation to the last part of Philjourdan’s comment “Germany SHOULD be used as a comparison for anyone lulled into a sense of complacency thinking that just because elections are held, we are immune from evil despots gaining power.”

I don’t think it should be or not used alone because with time comes the idea that things have changed. Many things do not change.

Just quick quiz relating to present day Thailand and Germany.
          1. Who knows of the Brownshirts? Who knows of the Redshirts?
          2. Were either of the groups violent?
          3. Was political extortion used as in “if you don’t vote for me you will not be looked after like the others?”
          4. Did vote buying take place (cash before the vote not government handouts)?
          5. Were there extrajudicial killings when in power?
          6. When overthrown was that government given significant support by a foreign power?
          7. Have there been highly questionable decisions in the judiciary?

The answers for Thailand are as follows
          1. The Redshirts were formed as a protesting (militia) group to attack protestors in a violent manner when Thaksin was Prime Minister.
          2. Yes
          3. Yes
          4. Yes
          5. 1500 in the war on drugs and possibly 1000 in the war on terror.
          6. Yes the US government said that it did not support the overthrow of that government.
          7. Yes Former PM Thaksin Shinawatra had all of his wealth held in Thailand confiscated despite only being convicted of a corrupt deal involving maybe $20 million (total wealth confiscated would be in the region of $1 billion). This is an issue that the US could have (should have) questioned, the harseness of the penalty.

          Phil
I very much recognise when something is wrong but as far as France I haven ‘t seen any of the above. I am a long way from the action so if anything like the above happens let me know.

        • philjourdan says:

Kelly, hindsight is 20/20 vision. However foresight is much worse. The people in Germany did not “see” it until it had occurred. So I have no doubt that most will miss it – and even worse, those who do will be denigrated, derided and humiliated. As an example, lets take your “Thailand/Germany test” and apply it to the US.

          1. OWS was created by the left/Obama as a counterweight to the Tea Party.
          2. OWS – over 600 incidents of violent crime (not arrests as they numbered much higher)
          3. Want to talk to the Black Tea Party member in St. Louis? How about the Governor of Michigan or Wisconsin
          4. Want to check out the documented cases in Wisconsin, Virginia, and most other states?
          5. Google Anwar Al-Awlaki
          6. TBD
          7. Obamacare, NBPP, Cutter, Napolitano, etc.

Are you scared yet? I do not know the criteria for your questions. But as you see, the US is mirroring some very bad HISTORICAL examples. Yet go to the media and show them the result of this. If they do not beat you to within an inch of your life (they have threatened to do so), they will certainly destroy you in other ways.

        • kelly liddle says:

          Germany before that is.

        • kelly liddle says:

          Phil
I have comments or questions regarding your answers if was about US.
1 If Obama was involved in the creation of OWS that is of great concern but if not then nothing.
2 Crime that took place inside OWS is different to if they attacked a Tea Party gathering violently. This is what happened in Thailand on a few occasions.
3 That is a really big worry and hope that whoever tried that did not get voted for.
4 If the documented cases were investigated by authorities then don’t have to worry too much yet but it is of great concern it even happens if it is somewhat widespread. In Thailand there are very few if any investigations and it is endemic.
5 That does concern me about the US.
          6
7 This is of concern and don’t know how you can deal with it. Again I would still say that the level is different though because politicians found to be corrupt would be treated equally regardless of the party they used to belong to and who is in power. At least I really hope that is the case. If you have overstepped this one I would say this is a sign of very big trouble. It is the method used in many countries to remove opposition figures. Doesn’t have to be about corruption can be the use of any law.

On this same subject another Ex PM and his deputy in Thailand is facing charges of murder at the moment. I find this comment interesting and a bit about what I was talking about.

“The DSI, prosecutors and police last week said Abhisit and Suthep authorized soldiers to use weapons to disperse demonstrators backed by former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra who were calling for an election.”

You might think why do I invest in Thailand then. Well the economics is good regardless who might be in power and it is my belief that the best way to remove oppressive politicians and corruption is a large enough middle class. So I don’t have any moral problems about investing there even if some of the companies I invest in might do corrupt things.

        • philjourdan says:

          Kelly
#1 – Will you find a signed order from Obama? Of course not. Not all criminals are criminally stupid. However we do know that OWS was a child of Soros, and many were paid to protest (they admitted it, no secret there). Obama has plausible deniability, but it was done at the direction of the left, and Obama endorsed. You will never find a direct link between the Brown SHirts and Hitler once he rose to power. But that only shows how to use the shell game.
#2 – The Tea party and anyone else they were given orders to attack. Yes, those 600+ violent crimes were more than was “ordered” by the left, but nevertheless, they did encompass the goals.
#3 – not voted for? How about not even prosecuted! It was not a hate crime, since it was not a protected class (a conservative black) and the “prosecutors” never could find the perps.
#4 – Not worry? Why? They are documented because the Feds will not prosecute! I saw it myself. The payment is not overt (here’s $5), but more subtle (ah! The poor wino is thirsty – here’s a bottle of MD80).
          #5 – Good!
#6 – HBD – Check out the latest court ruling
#7 – And it just gets worse.

I am not saying we WILL become another Nazi Germany, but there are valid comparisons. This all started by denying that ANY comparison with Nazi Germany is invalid. Let’s take out the Holocaust for now (although the current regime has declared that conservatives are a terrorist threat by virtue of their political philosophy). What else do we know about that country? They democratically elected a government, who then manufactured crises, forced the Judiciary to hand down questionable rulings, and became a dictatorship.

And that is the comparison that is valid. Can anyone doubt that they are using Sandy Hook the same way the Nazis used Krystal Nacht? In both cases, the wrong people are being blamed, the the real culprits are running free. In a week, as many children die in Chicago as did at Sandy Hook. But that is EVERY week, not a one time event. And so who is crying about those children?

Simply put, their vision for the country is Chicago, and they then manufacture (or utilize) a crises to do the same thing the Authorities did 80 years ago in Germany.

This is not a conspiracy theory. It is happening. It is not Jews this time, it is those that have a different political view point.

          Phil
Well I hope your general feeling is wrong. (Not because I like to see you being wrong but that what you say seems a bit on the depressing side)

        • philjourdan says:

Kelly, I WISH I was wrong. But after so many years of experience, I no longer “hope”. I think of it as my magician training, Never look at the hand in motion, look at what the other hand is doing. Or in this case, ignore what is said, look at what is being accomplished. Evil thrives because it always cloaks itself in good intentions.

    • kelly liddle says:

      Dirk
I have also thought of a funny way of looking at your comment. Name a country in the OECD which is not socialist. Are you advocating open borders? The only difference about France might be the current scale which in a historic perspective is how many countries were not so long ago including US and Australia (talking about the tax rate bit).

      • DirkH says:

Socialism in the UK suffered a serious setback end of the 70ies. New Labor tried its best to recover ground (doubling size of govt; setting child abduction targets for social services etc.); Cameron does little for now to unwind it again. Still, less socialist than France. The conservative Sarkozy managed to increase pension age from 60 to 62 ! That’s how bad France is.

And don’t come to me with the historic perspective; outbreaks of socialism wreak havoc in the here and now, and France has a serious one.

@Kelly – In support of my comparison, I offer this. A random act of Journalism by an American newspaper:
