Fulfilling all the worst expectations of the tea party, Republican Party leaders today came out of the woodwork to celebrate the false bipartisanship touted by President Obama – a faux bipartisanship that will soon be used as a club against Republicans who dissent from the Obama agenda.
Some Repubs opted not to pretend and simply be honest about where they stand with Zero. Mike Steele, the architect of the Repub thrashing in 2006 and 2008 is angry that some Repubs see politics a bit differently than this comfortable loser.
“Shame on those Republicans who had to ‘leave town’ and were not here to be part of this day,” said Steele, apparently between visits to lesbian bondage clubs. Steele continued, saying that Republican failure to work with President Obama was a “best laid plan … more of mice than men.” The talking heads at MSNBC grinned along. Joan Walsh of Salon.com tweeted, “Thank you Michael Steele.”
I think Steele has a masochistic fixation. In what was entirely predictable, the Dems on hand showed their usual tact and classless behavior to the Repubs who did show up to extend a hand good will and respect for the office. Paul Ryan was there and made a statement……
“The president and I were political opponents. We had strong disagreements over the direction of the country—as we still do now. But today, we put those disagreements aside. Today, we remember what we share in common.
“We serve the same country, one that is still in need of repair—and is still the freest on earth. We serve alongside men and women from both parties, who govern in good faith and good will. Finally, we serve the same people, who have honored us with their charge.
And, for his efforts, he was roundly booed by the crowd. With even less class and a display of crassness unbecoming humans, after a case of mistaken identity, they cleared it up with ….. yes more boos……
“There’s Jill Biden!” one attendee remarked, looking at the live feed of the event projected on the jumbo screen put up in front of the Capitol building. After a moment of getting a better look at the woman on the screen and seeing that it was actually Callista Gingrich, wife of former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, the attendee and a few others laughed then booed loudly.
Just because Steele is into that stuff doesn’t mean the rest of the people should subject themselves and their loved ones to such behavior. I wouldn’t. If I thought for a moment the typical Dems attending could possibly show a modicum of decorum, self-restraint, and general human behavior, then it would be different, but they can’t, we saw how they treated even the elderly and cripples in Michigan.
I don’t get this pandering to the left that so many Repubs seem to want to do lately. And, I certainly don’t share Steele’s near(?) fetish idea that Repubs should subject themselves to such flagellation. Screw him and his loser ways. Throw him in the same chum bucket with Christie. Be sure to put a lid back on it, the stench will become unbearable soon without it.
