LMAO!!! Should Have Read The Damned Thing, Shouldn’t Have You? A Win With Obamacare!!!!

CNN is reporting a little known provision in the Obamacare law that was shoved up our behinds in 2010.  The provision, Senate amendment 3276, Sec. 2716, part c. (I’m looking for the actual link to this), according to CNN states that the the government cannot collect “any information relating to the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition.”

Harry Reid snuck this in!  Reid has to keep the NRA happy to stay as senator of Nevada.

Here’s the link to the CNN video

Well, okay, so much for gun control.

The EPA. Totalitarian politicians. Snakes eating their own tails.

    Harry Reid, no less. Excellent.

As a Canadian I have despised Harry Reid he is the epitome of every wronge in a sneaky Socialist politican, he is poison to the well. Then CNN come up with this. OMG I sort of like him – On second thoughts I’ll move to intense dislike, A sort like not!

LOL, this is rich irony. For once and probably the only time, Reid did something I approve of. It will be interesting to see what the liberal gun grabber backlash will be to this.

    • suyts says:

      This is a beautiful irony.

The gun grabbers are already stating that this pertains only to Obamacare.

      • HankH says:

True, an amendment to a bill must be germane to the subject of the bill. However, the heading of the amendment to Obamacare is “PROTECTION OF SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS.” So one must ask what constitutes an infringement to our Second Amendment rights in context to health care? The answer is right there in the wording – collecting information about gun ownership and ammunition from law abiding citizens. So if it is a violation of Second Amendment rights in conjunction with healthcare it stands to reason it would be a violation in any other context as well, except in the case of a criminal investigation. I don’t think the gun grabbers have much of a leg to stand on.

      • suyts says:

True enough, it is stated as such. :)

  4. Bruce says:

Oh wow! Cue heads exploding from NYC to Westchester and Rockland counties to every other progressive run fiefdom in the country.

If they feared the NRA before this, they’ll fear even more the NRA’s lawyers coming with delete and desist orders.

I’m glad I’m far away ‘tother side of the Pacific, the manure has hit the fan and is going to be spead far and wide from this one.

After Gore sold out to Arab oil, now Reid has been caught undermining Obama and Biden on guns for his own electoral gain? Oh, oh, wwwowww!!!

    • HankH says:

Being a Nevadan with Reid as my senator, I don’t like most of his liberal policies. In the context of Nevada culture what Reid did makes sense.

Nevada is a little bit like the wild wild west. We have always enjoyed the right to open carry a firearm in public without a permit (some limits apply). Most people like myself holster a handgun for protection against some of the animals that might be encountered in rural areas. We’ve got plenty of nasty ones to contend with. It’s really not uncommon to see someone holstering a handgun or slinging a rifle or shotgun over their shoulder in a rural setting.

Reid, being born and raised in Nevada, respects our way of life as most Nevadans own guns, him included. I didn’t think he had a big enough pair though to slip this into Obamacare. That was simply amazing and unexpected.

To me this is just really bizarre what does healthcare have to do with gun laws. Who knows what other obscure legislation may exist outside of the stated reason for a particular piece of legislation.

    • suyts says:

It is a horrid practice our legislators engage in. It’s a game most Dems are deft at and some Repubs as well.

They learned that one can throw just about anything on a specific bill if the purpose of the bill is liked by the public. For instance, our senate recently passed an aide bill for the hurricane Sandy victims. The total comes to something like $65 billion. But, 1/4 of that doesn’t have anything to do with the storm, it’s just crap they added because they figured no one would vote against it. Repubs in the House have delayed voting for it because some will vote against it because of the crap they’ve added. But, the headlines will read, “Repubs against aid to storm victims!!” The practice is so common place now, people simply expect it.

In this specific instance, some people were concerned that Obama would use health care as an excuse to take the guns for our own safety, (shooting one’s self and other people isn’t very healthy) …… Reid knew and understood that if the NRA became involved in the issue that many legislators, including himself, would have to answer to the gun owners come election time. So, he snuck it in to keep the NRA from getting involved in the fight.

I think if someone ever gets around to reading all of the crap that’s in that law, they’d find many more examples of “riders” in the law. The law, BTW, has very little to do with our health care. It simply mandates insurance, what policies will cover, taxes and other methods of wealth confiscation.

      Very fast lead poisoning?

    • philjourdan says:

See my comment below. With an oppressive government, everything has to do with everything. It is all about total control.

  6. philjourdan says:

It actually was not “snuck” in. It was placed there due to the gaining popularity of some pediatricians to inquire about guns in the parents house. That was enraging not only gun owners but non-gun owners (It was a big thing a few years back). The provision was merely a soothing balm for what they hoped was conservative support of Obamacare.

The law of good intentions bites you every time.

  7. Bruce says:

Tracking gun ownership is apparently unhealthy, at least it is for Mr Reid, but has Obamacare got anything against registration of precious metal ownership?

You evil capitalist you, you own gold? How can you be such a unpatriotic wealthy bourgeoisie fat cat!

Got to keep an eye on those gold owners, they could all be terrorists. Or worse, Republicans!

If this sort of silliness continues Mr Obama will have to build a wall on the Mexican and Canadian borders to keep the people in.

  8. Scott says:

Given what Hank just had in the tips and notes about caption contest…I present my caption for this post:

We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it.

    :-D
