A New Speaker? I Doubt it.

For those that don’t know, there’ll be another US election tomorrow.  It’s for the Speaker of the House.  It is probably the third most powerful office in the US, behind the Chief Justice and President.

There are many conservatives unhappy with John Boehner.  Republicans, the majority party in the House of Representatives, will elect the next Speaker.  Technically, all of the representatives will elect the Speaker.  But, it takes a majority to hold the seat.

So, who would the Repubs put as Speaker in place of Boehner?

There are two names which have surfaced as possible Speakers.  Majority leader Eric Cantor, and former VP candidate Paul Ryan.

Cantor has issued a statement of support for Boehner, even though Cantor voted against the fiscal cliff deal.  Paul Ryan voted for the fiscal cliff avoidance bill (sorry I don’t have a better term for it).  So who else?  Well, there’s no one.  Sure, Boehner has done some things which have made me unhappy.  But, so has Cantor and Ryan.  The fact is, no one is going to give us much difference, and the Republican representatives know this.  This is all political theater.  I would support a change if there were someone to step up and convince people that they could do a better job.  But, there isn’t anyone who is stepping up and making this assertion, much less convincing people of such.

To the Repubs crying, STFU, and pull your heads out.  Bitching is easy.  If you’ve got something better, then get on with it and put it out.  If not, quite acting like a bunch of whining leftists.

    Sorry – Off Topic!

Enjoy your blog! Have been reading for past year+! Please continue
Hate to say it but You have just been preaching to the choir.
The only way change happens is to instill conservative principles in our children.
The lifestyle of the 60/70′s is manifesting now. We are seeing its fruits and are having to
deal with the aftermath. Our children will see what policies we inact and their effect.
and THEY will inact policies to correct them. It will not happen quickly
it will take 1-2 generations to change…. We are just the beginning — our kids/grandkids will
make the difference. All you can do is set an example for your family = hold to your family
values – and pray they listen. Its not our future – its Theirs!

Maybe that won’t work either. Our children have been brainwashed by violent video games, tv that is controlled by left wing politics,, and government. There is only a dark future coming when they grow up and this brainwashing come out of the Trojan horses of their minds.

The only hope for America is God. There’s people intent on dismantling what America is . The are vicious for power. Unless and until America turns to God there is no hope to stop that tide.

gaspasn, I agree. Most of this is “preaching to the choir”.

But, I think it is important to let people know they’re not alone. More, I think it’s important to try to articulate why things are wrong. Hopefully, through discussion, we’ll discover some of the reasons.

Yes, set the example, and teach, explain, instruct, the young people. Setting the example is the most important thing one can do. But, we also have to give them an explanation. Why do we do what we do? Why is it better than what the other people are doing?

It is my sincere hope that someone may glean something useful from this blog, keep it, and then pass it on. It is why I write everyday. It isn’t for me, it isn’t even for the people who come and read it. As you’ve noted, this is “preaching to the choir”. It is for me to learn and grab the wisdom and knowledge of the readers and pass it along. And visa versa.

I do not see it will make any difference. Cantor is the same as Boehner. Cantor voted to tax wall street over 100% of their income. Because the press thought it was a good idea.

Boehner or Cantor, frick or frack, mutt of jeff. There is no real choice. Just dykes in drag.
