Today, New Years, is the traditional day of our college bowl games. Sadly, this tradition has become so bastardized, that it’s hardly recognizable from many other days. In fact, many bowl games have already been played. Of course, those were all meaningless also ran bowl games. Still, we have some good ones coming up, so I thought this would be a nice time to post an end to a pretty exciting College football season. Here are the upcoming matchups.
20 Northwestern 13 This game is already underway. This is the Gator Bowl. I’m one of those who don’t believe the SEC is as strong as they’re purported to be. So far, Northwestern is showing people exactly that. I look for them to finish strong and beat the Miss. St. Update: NW is up 27-13!
7 Georgia Okay, in spite of what I said above, I think Georgia is a good team. So is Nebraska, but, they’re not as good as what they’re rated. I’m not sure the “Capital One Bowl” game is appropriate for these two teams, but this is what they got. The game has already stated, but no score so far. Georgia wins this one. ….. oops before hitting post, Georgia has already scored twice! They’re up 9-0 will be 10-0 before I post. Update: Georgia is up 23-17!
16 Nebraska
10 South Carolina Another SEC team. SC should have been matched up with a better opponent. They’re up 7-3 right now. I look for them to win the prestigious Outback Bowl/sarc Update: SC is up 21-13
18 Michigan
6 Stanford Really? The best the Rose Bowl could come up with is Wisconsin? Still, this should be a good game to watch if you like running backs. Wisconsin’s Ball is a great RB, Stanford’s Taylor is no slouch himself. Stanford wins the Rose Bowl.
15 NIU
12 Florida State Sigh, the Orange Bowl. Time was…… well, no use dwelling in the past. This is an interesting matchup. ACC vs MAC. I’m going with FSU.
21 Louisville
3 Florida Another matchup that favors the SEC. Louisville? This should be an easy Sugar Bowl win for Florida. This game will be played tomorrow.
4 Oregon
5 Kansas State Finally a good matchup in a bowl game!!! The Fiesta Bowl! This game will be played on the 3rd. It’s a great pairing. Still, I wonder how many players on each team will be up for this game? Both teams had the national championship in their grasp, they just let it go. If both teams come to play, this will be a heck of a game! K St’s QB, Collin Klein would have been my choice for the Heisman trophy, but, the media market being what it is, he wasn’t going to get it. I doubt he would have won it if K St. went undefeated. But, I think he’ll be too much for Oregon.
11 Oklahoma The Cotton Bowl will be played on the 4th. I like this game because it gives an opportunity for OK and the Big (whatever) to show what they’ve got. Both teams are 10-2. A&M lost to Florida and LSU. OK lost to K St. and Notre Dame. I think Oklahoma can get up for this game. A&M gets to show that Manziel deserved the Heisman.
25 Kent State What the heck is the GoDaddy.Com Bowl? Why is it being played on the 6th? I hate this matchup, this bowl game, and the day they’re playing it. I’m not watching it.
2 Alabama This is the game we’ve all been waiting for. It’ll be played next week on the 7th. Notre Dame has consistently surprised me this year. Every time I thought they had a challenge too much for them, they’ve responded. This is no different. I think Alabama will be too much for them. I hope I’m wrong. I’ll be rooting for Our Lady.

I’ll have to hold my nose and root for the Ducks (Stanford’s already won the Rose Bowl). Yea PAC-12!

Most of my teams (that I was rooting for) lost. However the best game was the Michigan Game. Tough loss there! But the only thing a prevent defense prevents is a winning (usually).
I am going with ND as well. Bama has enough trophies.
