A Happy New Year To All —- A Look Back And Forward

It’s been an excellent year. I can’t tell you all how honored and proud I am to have learned from you all, to have gotten to know you, and to have a small part of our lives intersect here. I’m privileged beyond words.

Wow, it’s been quite a year!  It seems like just a few weeks ago I was posting about the the progress of Suyts Space for 2011.  To look back, “WordPress stat monkeys” as they call them, put together a little summary of what happened for the year on new years eve.  Here’s part of what they gave me last year……

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 19,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 7 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

In 2011, there were 212 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 218 posts. There were 346 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 34 MB. That’s about 7 pictures per week.

The busiest day of the year was October 30th with 712 views. The most popular post that day was BEST Proves that the Earth is Warming!.

At the time, I was quite please with the results.  Rather than simply providing you all to a link for the report, I thought I’d give a little more detail than what the stat monkeys would for this year.

My very first post on this blog was March 16, 2011NH Snow Spring 20yrs.  Yes, the formatting was something to overcome.  The very first comment was from GregO.  By the end of the month Suyts Space had amassed such a following that we were getting 3 views a day!!  That was March 2011.  By March of 2012 we had grown to 250 views a day.  For the year 2012, we’re averaging 523 views a day.  For the most part, we’ve just simply gown.  We don’t take great leaps, just steady growth with an occasional pause for decrease.  This month we’ve taken a bit of a step back, but, we didn’t increase our views last year, either.  Here’s where we’re at now……

I believe if we see the sort of improvement next year as we did last year, people will be quoting the commenters here.  Smile  Yes, we’re that cool!  cool

Here’s the summation from WordPress….

About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 190,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 3 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!

In 2012, there were 1,548 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 1,760 posts.

The busiest day of the year was November 6th with 2,315 views. The most popular post that day was The Night And Morning Long Election Post!.

Last year, the most commenters were…..

I’ve got to say, for a couple of commenters, it’s nice to have them back.

Of course, this short little list doesn’t begin to cover all those who regularly contribute to this blog.  And, I can’t possibly list all of you guys and gals.  But, I have to say I’m quite honored and humbled that so many would come and help contribute to this blog.  I’m constantly in awe of the many people who do.  The knowledge and insights displayed by the readers and commenters of the many topics covered here is simply amazing.

Here are some of the posts which got the most views this year…..

I feel like a piker! Alas, there will be no Dallas A Day blog. I would much prefer that to the idiots (radio hosts no less) talking about the Deadskins going all the way!

    Congratulations on your blogs success!
